They should all be bitUSD. :)

My lasting contribution to the Bitshares community for all time:

Coming up with the name Bitshares Genesis. :)

FounderShares sounds exactly like some "unfair" thing that a new person cannot buy into anymore.  ;)

Bitshares Seed is a good name, imo.  Or possibly Bitshares Genesis?  Because it gives you a stake in the Genesis block of future DACs?

I like the idea of converting to a BTSX asset!

Right now there is low volume in all of the BTSX assets: bitUSD, etc.
Daily volume in all of them combined is a few thousand dollars.

Having PTS as an asset in BTSX could multiply that amount by a factor of 10.

(Of course, in the future we expect and want to see a lot more bitUSD use.  But for now, PTS would be the biggest asset on there).

End result, convince a single credit union to invest depositor funds this way and bring in millions of dollars to BTSX.
+5% +5%

Migration of PTS to BTSX asset is what I think is called for.

That would be great. As long as anyone is still able to buy and sell it as desired.

Also, if we make PTS an asset inside BTSX, then instead of just being the #11 or so coin on coinmarketcap currency page, it can be #1-2 on the asset page.  We will have a something Bitshares related near the top of both lists! :)

I'll come back to my argument and extend it to : If you this now, you'll see the price of btsx go down Lots (with a capital L), more so, NOT, for a short term

Edit : PTS has been live for a year.... for us...not for your average user! You'll kill the party without even starting it. People are VERY MUCH vary of btsx today. Believe me when i say so. I have 5 converstaion everyday convincing people btsx is good for them. Do this now and see that number of people that don't understand btsx and bitUSD grow

I agree.

The amount of FUD that is going to appear out there as a result of this is way beyond what any of you are imagining.  We are all going to be posting 24/7 on every message board trying to fight it.

The price of BTSX will probably crash back to 1 cent USD, at least temporarily.  All our momentum that we have achieved since the release of bitUSD in august will be dead.  Everyone will see BTSX as a pump and dump that already got dumped, and they wont wont to buy back into it again.  It will look like we had a huge pump when we released bitUSD, and that it is back to where it started because "it doesnt work and there is no volume".

That is what the narrative would be, unless you guys put up a huge buywall of tons of BTSX under the current price or something like that.

On a large monitor I see a lot of empty space until I scroll and it fills in.
Obviously BM has a bigger one than you and me?!  ???

We all have monitor envy of Bytemaster. :)

It doesn't have to been seen as shutting down, but rather upgraded to a better technology and simplified genesis distribution model. The new asset could be called Seeds which combines AGS/PTS

Bitshares Seeds
SeedShares
BitSeeds
SeedShares

I've had this idea too, except I would just call the one proto unit a BitShare

I really like this idea, and its easy for new people to understand.  (Which is a complaint about bitshares - there is too much complexity).

You buy a BitShare, and you get some of every Bitshares <whatever> DAC that comes out.

why start a new thread?
https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=10104.0

Because I dont think you guys realize how terrible of a decision this it, and the prevailing sentiment in that thread is to end PTS.

Its dangeorusly close to looking like a decision that I feel would kill our future community growth potential.
It's not decision yet, it's discussion.  :)

I really don't see why would anyone be opposed to ending PTS.

Because it permanently shuts off anyone new from being able to buy a stake in all future DACs (at once).  It tells newcomers "nope, this opportunity is forever closed to you.  You never get to be one of the special people who gets shares in every new DAC."

And then they get upset and leave, instead of becoming bitshares supporters.

Imagine you are are new to bitcoin/cryptos, and you have just heard about bitshares for the first time.

You begin investigating it, and you discover the idea of DACs, Distributed Autonomous Corporations.  This is amazing!  You love the idea that a cryptocurrency should be more than just a coin, that it should be a company that makes money, that it should be profitable!

You find that you can buy Bitshares PTS, and in doing so, you will be given shares in all future DACs that are created by the bitshares community.  Forever!  This is amazing, you go buy some.  Its almost like a mutual fund of future DACs!

You investigate the current DACs in existence: BTSX, DNS, etc.  You buy some of the ones that interest you.

This is how we grow our community.  This is how we gain new people who are interested in the bitshares ecosystem.

***********

Now imagine that it is November 6, and you and you have just heard about bitshares for the first time.

You begin investigating it, and you discover the idea of DACs, Distributed Autonomous Corporations.  This is amazing!  You love the idea that a cryptocurrency should be more than just a coin, that it should be a company that makes money, that it should be profitable!

And then you discover that Bitshares PTS closed Nov 5, and now you can NEVER AGAIN buy into the ability to get shares of all future bitshares DACs.   You are shut out forever from this opportunity.

Disgusted, and upset that there was such a great opportunity open to people in the past, but that they are denying you the opportunity to join them, you do not buy bitshares.  You do not become a member of the bitshares community, helping to spread the word about DACs in development, telling your friends about how they buy into a crypto which actually makes a profit.

Instead, you sit on message boards and whenever the topic of bitshares come up, you complain about how the distribution of their coins is unfair.

I feel it is ESSENTIAL to the health of our community, that there exists SOME token which newcomers can buy, which then gives them a piece of EVERYTHING the community makes.   I plead to you not to deny this opportunity to future newcomers, those who will be part of our lifeblood in the future.

Crypto is still in its infancy, and new people are coming into the space every day.  We need to capture some of those people and make them believers in Bitshares, we need to grow, we need to gain more people working on more projects.  We will not succeed in that task if we forever divide the community into special old timers who are privileged enough to hold AGS/PTS pre snapshot, and newcomers who are prohibited from ever doing so.

Please do not do this.

Yes, please make PTS DPoS.  Or combine it with AGS into a new, tradable DPoS token.  Or whatever else you want to do to fix it.  Just do not deny newcomers the ability to ever buy it, because if you do, they will walk away from bitshares when they see that, and we will not grow the way we should.

Thanks for reading,

- A newbie Bitshares community member who would have walked away from bitshares instead of buying, if PTS had been closed.

This is perhaps the most compelling argument.  I love watching PTS run up the coinmarketcap flagpole to announce the birth of an new DAC.

Absolutely this.

And the opposite effect will occur if you cause PTS to die and go to 0.
