General Discussion / New Gateway Tutorial/HowTo?
« on: June 06, 2015, 04:58:53 pm »
Do we have a tutorial or information for creating a gateway. I know we have some info on what a gateway is and how it can be profitable, but I don't know where to look for help on setting one up. Also are some of the pieces already open sourced/open to the public for use.  I would like to learn more about the process, and figure I can try to aggregate what I find into some form of tuturial. Thanks

I can run the delegate. I have had a standby delegate for several months now, and I am currently running delegates for the other dpos based chains. I could set something up this afternoon if that is soon enough and would be happy to answer any questions or concerns.

This sounds cool. Would your company be involved/ licensed for regulatory purposes(ie money transmitter, AML,KYC) or would that fall on the customer/atm owner?

Nice, with the current Note supply from bitsharesblocks and the price listed on CMC it looks like #23-#24 already, $1.36 million. Good for free advertising. Plus it is probably even higher when you consider the stake not included in that supply number.

I can put in 50k but I won't have access to my wallet until tomorrow night.

Look at this statistics..about 250k CNY outflow from BTS this week..

I'm wondering if that could have anything to do with the dacx completed funding rounds. Not sure when they ended but one would expect that they would have to withdraw the bitCNY at some point to buy the actual stock. A quick estimate looks like > 300k in fully funded campaign/offers. So this may not necessarily be a bad thing...

If people wanted to cash out DVS couldn't they sell them for TRADE.BTC and exchange that for BTC at Blocktrades.us

I like the blockchain download progress bar in the gui. The bar started in the negative numbers though, and reached zero at the halfway point before starting to count up. Otherwise a nice little feature that should help the experience for new users.

Also, with Bitshares market pegged assets, you can directly transfer the asset without having to convert to bitcoin. This has the potential to save steps (and fees) in the payment process if the recipient is also interested in holding the same stable asset.

General Discussion / Re: When BitGOLD takes the world by storm...
« on: March 07, 2015, 09:29:43 pm »
Yeah there is always lots of gold smuggling going on but these people want the physical form, I don't think bitGOLD appeals to them much, rather I see bitGOLDs biggest potential with the average joes like myself that just want easy exposure to the price.

You're forgetting about the bitSILVER and bitGOLD to gold and silver coin offramps that are being set up as we speak.

I'm not, these places still need physical form though right? From that blog BM posted about it I got the impression one day you could go into a pawn shop for example and trade bitGOLD to real gold and vice versa, so say this pawn shop was in Bangladesh and they are short of physical form they might try smuggle it in. Maybe I'm just being dumb, its 5am :/

He is referring to http://cryptosmith.info/index.php which lets you take bitsilver and bitgold and redeem it for its physical counterpart.  Under construction

Excited to see it is coming along. If combined with the in progress reddit tip bot, we might have something to market to the prepping community of reddit. A way to express appreciation in a currency they can appreciate.

Technical Support / Re: How are Short Sell Orders Executed?
« on: February 23, 2015, 05:10:37 pm »
If you think it might be the APY offered you can look at the list of competing shorts to see where yours falls(it show up as a box under the Sell Orders box in the gui). If there are some big shorts offering higher APY then there is a good chance that is why it didn't get filled. The other condition too look for is if there is any demand to buy BitUSD at the feed price. When BitUSD demand is low, you will probably find less or no demand to buy at the feed price and have a tough time getting a short filled. Hope this helps

So I sent from bitcoin QT to the pre-sale address, how do I find the public key for that transaction?
You can get the transaction id from your list of transactions and use that to lookup your public address on a blockchain explorer. If you donated in more than one transaction you might have to repeat this several times.
