General Discussion / Re: New Wallet is Coming Along Nicely 0.6.1
« on: February 10, 2015, 12:23:41 pm »
Yup, works like a charm, just like most previous ones. I don't see what the big deal about stability is. Out of all the releases I've had maybe 3 that were crashing, the rest were rock solid to the point that I've been leaving the client running for days and forgetting about it.

Now, someone could say that not everyone has a "powerful" machine (i5 with 16GB RAM and an SSD) but the way I see it there will soon be separate light/mobile BitAssets wallets for our clients. The full Bitshares platform is a tool for shareholders and traders and how can anyone be an "investor" in anything when they can't afford a modern PC?

25% of the people here rarely use their wallet due to poor performance.

I've not tried the new wallet yet though, maybe i'll re-poll in a month when everyone has upgraded.

recurrent payments have to be a feature of the blockchain and thus need to be independent from an actual "client" ..
a proper question instead would be: once recurrent payments are implemented on the blockchain, will I be able to "define" them using a LW client ... I'd say, yes :)
also possible, once mail is reliable, is to send out bills over bts-mail and have the user just "confirm" the bill

Any idea what the eta is for it?  I don't see it in the milestones on github, it's an important feature.

I'm drawing up a plan for a marketing project which will need this feature, so knowing roughly when it will be up and running in the mobile wallet would be useful to me.

Will recurrent payments be able to be set up from the light wallet and/or mobile wallet?

The use case I'm thinking of is for mobile phone contracts paid for with bitUSD from the mobile wallet

It's not bitUSD, bitUSD/BTC has a tight peg

General Discussion / Re: Cass deserves a second delegate.
« on: February 09, 2015, 10:07:54 pm »
There are lots of people working full time who are being under-paid and some part timers getting no pay at all, should all the devs be given an extra delegate?  Of course cass deserves a second one but if we vote in second full pay delegates for every full time worker we'll be broke.  I'll just say yes, he does deserve one, and leave it at that.

Many of the developers are huge BTS holders so they can / should sell some of their shares to pay for whatever lifestyle they're acclimated to. Perhaps a good compromise for Cass would be to publicly state "I will retire delegate number 2 when market cap reaches X for Y time".

That sounds reasonable, I was thinking it largely depends on the size of the individuals BTS holdings, the earlier they were here the less they need now.

I'm curious about the differences in your approach with and without the delegate positions.  Without them would you still use BitShares to issue the UIA?   Would there still be a bitUSD prize without delegate funding?

Thanks for the interesting proposal.

Rate your user experience for the full client.

Very impressed by your accomplishments and glad that I voted for you. Is there any way of knowing how many Bitshares users we now  have in Argentina?

Thanks.  There's isn't a way to find that out, but the next paper wallet giveaways at events and bitshares 101 book funnel will have tracking for new accounts built in.

There is a bts thread on Hashtalk that is gaining followers, I have posts on there but do not have the expertise concerning bts that many of you do. If someone would signup on Hashtalk that can help generate
interest and give them good solid information as some are looking into the various bitshares like options out there like nxt etc. It could bring many people into the bts arena. Someone that can handle this professionaly without gettting into the anti-paycoin mode would be appreciated and these are people that are looking for a shelter from the btc price declines and some new opportunities.

I'll head on over, thanks for the heads up.
