Really great job!

Very sad to see that not even one delegate would like to respond. I hope they are as active as when they are asking for votes...

When a working client comes out, I will gladly do it.  It takes hours of wrestling with the client to do anything at all.
Just get an SSD, they're not that expensive.. Unless you're happy to just use the light client you'll probably be unsatisfied for a long time..

But it used to work fine, then on a new release it broke and never worked again.  How can it be a hardware problem if a few months ago it was working?

Great episode.

Everyone is on mumble.

General Discussion / bitshares mentioned in venturebeat

A quick mention of BitShares alongside ethereum and ripple:
http://venturebeat.com/2015/01/27/colu-raises-2-5m-to-use-the-blockchain-for-something-other-than-bitcoin/

Also I noticed that Google of BitShares shows a "news" section now, which is good.

Don't worry, at this very moment we have Brian Page bringing in some large "whales" from St. Marten. It's super hush hush though. Don't tell anyone.

If you are joking then thanks for the helpful post.

If you are not then it would be smart of Brian to share what convinced the pockets to buy in so that others can replicate his success.

It turns out, the "whales" he "brought" in were actual whales he bought. Apparently he spent $100,000 on black market whale blubber to burn the massive piles of bullshit he sold I3.

ROFL, right you are.
Can you imagine going out on a boat to sell bitshares to real live whales.  Drop a laptop in the pacific, see if anyone uses it to buy.  'laptop drop' on real whales.  :P

Month 1 update:

I've been working closely with Frank (fran2k).  So far we have achieved:

- BitShares 101 translation. View on cryptofresh
- Frank gave a long talk explaining the whole of BitShares at the first BitShares meetup in Buenos Aires to 30+ attendees.  This video recording was made of the event - see photos here and the BitShares Argentina google+ page
.  A bitUSD giveaway was done too and the cost covered by elmato.
- Shorter talk by Frank to 60+ attendees at this Bitcoin + BitShares meetup.  Video coming soon.
- Paper wallet's designed and ready for upcoming giveaways (better looking versions coming soon):

Link builing - I obtained a link with keywords to bitshares.org from the homage of politicalcortex.com.  View my article
"Open Letter to David Cameron on Freedom of Speech, Government Surveillance and What to Do" at the top of the featured section on the homepage.  This article is 2k words and has been submitted to other sites and awaits publication.

Only approximately half of my first month budget has been spent and I have not paid myself back the registration fee.  I'll probably do that in the third month as I'd rather get fb ads running asap than pay myself back.  General grass-roots marketing I've done includes a couple of Bitcointalk threads here and here.  I've played an active role in commenting about BitShares on articles and I made a bitshares homepage digital sketch to help with the design process.  I'm part way though creating an SEO keyword list - view here.

Expenses spreadsheet.

Month 2 Plan:
Frank has agreed to start working full time for BitShares for $100bitUSD a week.  Frank will be working on:  Written translations, video voice overs for cn-members videos + riverhead's tutorial videos, broschure creation and street giveaway, giving talks at the meetups, organising more meetup events, basic meetup video editing and networking, making connections and other tasks.

We are also looking at sponsoring an impressive speaker who travels around Argentina talking about bitcoin, to talk about BitShares.  This is not yet arranged but conversation has started.  Talks with a local bitcoin exchange is also set happen too within the next couple of weeks.

A tracking method is being worked out for paper wallet + brochure giveaways.

Facebook ads will launch and send traffic to a Spanish version of rgcrypto's awesome http://bitshares101.net funnel to build an email list and promote the book.

I will increase my article output this month, now that BitShares.org is (very nearly) up and running.

That's it for month 1!  Total expenditure $641.  I hold all my personal pay in bitassets ($200 a month).

I'm very much looking forward to month 2.  Things can really start, with the book + website to promote we will start seeing new users.
 :)

Edit:  Just want to add I've been paying from my personal account due to having trouble with my client - as you can see all the delegate pay is still with my delegate wallet (in case anyone was wondering why it's still full). http://bitsharesblocks.com/delegates/delegate?name=argentina-marketing.matt608

In the sidebar click "vote/edit submissions"
My submission is the newest at the top, "an open letter to David Cameron on Freedom of Speech". Click "vote" on it. Then scroll down to the bottom of the article and designate it as a "Top-Rated Submission". Enough of these will get it posted on to the front page where we'll get a valuable backlink.

It's 1 vote per IP per day, it needs a bunch of them!

General Discussion / Re: User Issued Asset Market Fees
« on: January 28, 2015, 02:35:57 am »
We are going to allow gateways to set a market fee just like they do today on their internal exchange.  This fee will have a rate between 0.000% and 10.000% of every trade.  This will help us get gateways to issue IOUs on our chain because they could keep the SAME business model they have today.

Is there documentation that explains the range of features involved with these features?

I get that an exchange can use a UIA in BTS's DEX, but what is the mechanism that they tie that UIA to something of value?  Are there transactions where I can create an Asset and have it pegged to BTS.

The part that is not clear to me is where is the collateral stored?  How do we know that the UIA can be redeemed?  Is there a quality in-depth example including the RPC calls that would walk through this process?  Can Bytemaster make such a document for his blog?  (Maybe it has been written?)

You will get adoption be either cold-contacting exchanges or by writing something quality that explains a typical usecase of how an exchange would create these assets. This serves as documentation which will help people implement things, but it can also be written in such a way to be spread on Social Media. I believe Bitshares.tv may have covered this but thats not my preferred media for technical things. There is no doubt there are others like me. (ie future potential partners of Bitshares)
