General Discussion / Re: BitShares 0.6.1 Feedback
« on: February 17, 2015, 03:44:39 pm »
Finally had a chance to upgrade!

It's a really big improvement, it's working very smoothly for me.  Great work everyone!  I've had a lot of problems with past versions but this is working super-smooth.  I have 8Gb ram btw.

It's looking very nice and I the layout is much better too.  It is exciting to see it working so well!

It just looks and works great, I'm so pleased.

Experience:
Took about 1 hour to load while it said "replaying the block chain", but it did it smoothly.
After opening still had the last 6 days worth of syncing to do.  It synced the first 3 days in a few minutes then said "not connected" for a few minutes,, then synced again to completion.

In the "transfer section" the familiar bug of accounts not showing up happened again, but this time, the trick of "control-click - reload" worked and they appeared.  Still, it needs to not appear at all.

No other problems!

:)

General Discussion / Re: Light Wallet Beta Release

This is awesome!   Registering a new account, all very smooth. I tested sending 1BTS to my new account on the light wallet from the full client and it worked like a charm, appeared a couple of seconds after sending.  I sent it back again to the full client, worked great.  Tried it with 0.1 bitUSD, same great experience.  It's just about the most easy thing to use in the world, way better than multibit which I used to use for bitcoin.

Great wallet! Very encouraging.

A couple of tiny things:

When sharing the link on Facebook the image doesn't show up (shows a question mark, when presumably it should show the BitShares logo).

On the twitter share I suggest putting a link to BitShares.org and on the Facebook share post link to bitshares.org rather than the faucet.

Technical Support / Re: Account registration faucet for new users!
« on: February 17, 2015, 02:10:42 pm »
Hi I downloaded a bts wallet and bought a few thousand coins on bter I tried 3 times to send coin to my public address, but none of them arrived in wallet! I just want to know where I have gone wrong as I haven't had this problem with any of the other wallets I use! I have tried registering using the faucet nothing happened so I tried again and it said name has been taken but I dont know if it is me who took it or not?  :-\

Is your BitShares wallet synced?

I think I need it explained a bit more.

If I am understanding this right.. you want to build a wrapper into the GUI of bitshares to connect to all the centralized exchanges without any real connection with the BTS network?

I think the idea is about gateways, and organising their IOUs in a more user friendly way.  I really like it, a big list of UIAs will never attract big gateways.  But maybe "sub-names" as @Troglodactyl is the answer? I don't know.  But I get the idea, some types of UIAs, such as those issued by gateways need to be grouped for easy use.  One way would be for gateways to buy a "folder" that contains as many UIAs as they want.

are there threads on btt and hashtalk on this ?

Yeah.. think these updates should have their own thread in these places as well.

This is great work.. I have 100% of my miners pointing there.. I'm always one of the TOP 5 miners... for now. ;)

 +5%

The advertisement of this should be mainly or also outside this forum. Where do you advertise something like this??

I can post updates here, or anyone can:

https://hashtalk.org/topic/31799/mine-usd-at-minebitshares-com-payout-in-bitusd-most-profitable-multipool-bonus-payouts

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=950460.0

Once the pool is optimised getting listed on the mining sites like coinwarz and others should get lots of interest, though I don't know about the technical requirements to get listed.  Also ads on those sites may be quite cheap and effective, but the pool needs improving first before ads are spend on it.

To all those of you have large amounts of BTS on Bter, you get what you deserve. You could have been trading BTS:BitBTC on our own system.

hardly, cryptohedge was/is performing a valuable service enforcing the peg on exchanges.
Also true .. sucks .. maybe @Rune can tell us how much btc may be lost

word, this sucks, which is why we need to expand our selection of bitAssets to include everything on coinmarketcap100 (because that's what all the crypto traders are trading) before we create feeds for BitSteel, BitCorn, and BitPalladium (where it's difficult to have an accurate 24hr feed).  Wouldn't it be easier to make BitDODE because it trades 24/7?

To have market pegged assets in the current way for anything there has to be enough demand for the peg to work and with altcoins there almost definitely isn't enough, and it harms them by taking demand away for the original coin.

My non-technical self wonders if that could be done by burning the original coin to get a bitWhatever version of it, which could be traded against anything on bitshares.

e.g. someone sends 1LTC to a burn address and recieves bitLTC in return which can then trade against anything on BitShares.  Is that useful?  You can't do that for bitUSD because you can't provably burn USD but with crypto's you can.  It could be a stupid idea... thought I'd say it anyway.

We don't want to be relying on donations, the delegate system is there to be used.  If 50% is enough to cover it I say go for it, although if you could put a 100% delegate to good use, then I am all ears.  You've done a great job so far.
