General Discussion / Re: Kevin Harrington and St. Martin
« on: August 01, 2014, 12:54:55 pm »
I heard a baseball bat crack...but I don't see the ball.  Did Brian hit it out of the park?

Brian, Dan, and I each got about 2 hours to brief the mastermind group.  Counting dinners, probably a total of 8+ hours discussing BitShares and its applications to their interests.  We were very impressed with everyone we met and came away from the event invigorated and inspired.  But we are far too profoundly humble to describe how inconceivably well our interactions with them went.

This trip we secured solid marketing partnerships.  I wouldn't expect anything visible for a few months.

These guys have proven track records and will get us where we need to go.

Brian's talent is finding the best and I am very impressed with the work these guys have done.

+5% Glad it's been well presented & explained to these kind of investors and that it's now on their radar.

Well it has been changed.  I am not entirely sure.  There seems to be some varying opinions on this.  Feedback is welcome as usual.

Oops, I copied the image from a thread in marketing, I didn't know how to copy it off the current page, I skimmed it briefly but didn't notice the differences.

Just saw some of the photos on FB! Looking forward to the updates.

The skills, capital, experience and contacts that a couple of these guys can bring to the table is pretty priceless!

Great work guys!

Instead you throw out a number that isn't even feasible and appears to be created for FUD.

Big news coming up in the BitShares Music world.

http://wiki.bitshares.org/index.php/Why_choose_Bitshares%3F is quite good.

The table in the link also gives quite a good comparison for people that don't understand these things too well.

Edit: Removed table image, which has since been updated, one at the link is correct.

Am I right in thinking you control more than 40% of the total supply?

What specific information makes you think they control more than 40%?

Because they have been accepting PTS for AGS and buying AGS with their own funds since day one.  Their employees are not only paid in PTS but are known to reinvest them in AGS.

The token is their primary monetization, I don't have specific information but doing some calculations in my head I think that's the ballpark, which is why I'm asking.

OK, so you haven't looked at the PTS & BTC transaction logs from AGS?

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AqTwk-e7yzJydFZ3bVVWT0o1OUwzXzdESHFBY0FkUWc&usp=sharing#gid=0
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AqTwk-e7yzJydDFnQmlkTVlkbWpubnJBbzR2UG5ucnc&usp=sharing#gid=0

You can see very little funds were taken from AGS through PTS & BTC during the time BTSX was allocated. (Up till 28/02/2014)

Obviously anybody can do what they want with their payments and I really hope they invested them back in AGS but the amount they can own via that process you are suggesting seems incredibly limited unless I'm missing something.

My personal concern is that some of the talented developers might not have enough equity. (Even taking into account the 10% Toast references above.)

Anyone having the same problem? Just wanted to check there's nothing wrong with current download from dacsunlimited as far as anyone knows.

I lost access to my desktop on a restart the other day, and just in case it was virus related I ran an aggressive removal tool which removed BitShares, so it may be blocking subsequent downloads because of that.

Very strange, check if you download from official source:
https://github.com/dacsunlimited/bitsharesx/releases

Here the report from https://www.virustotal.com:

BitSharesX-0.2.3.exe:
https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/c0a78690a89bc6b1eed89ded3987470021c4852b271a29feb06aa76134e8e04f/analysis/

Extracted BitSharesX.exe:
https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/7307ce2c9bd067bcbf44b4bd7f0644bc6740629120baa32ad5d8e0357ae116a6/analysis/1406819724/

Yes I downloaded it from the official source, and just tried your link (to the same source)  and I got the same result.

I guess it must be my anti-virus recognising I already removed it.

(The aggressive scan recommended I remove it the other day, but there was no label/threat associated with it, so maybe it is just the anti-virus recognising I am trying to download the same thing I have previously chosen to remove.)

Sorry, I'm terrible with PC's. Thanks for the help. I'll just tell my anti-virus to restore it. Thanks.

This makes Bitshares, arguably, the first functional iteration of what’s known as a Distributed Autonomous Corporation – essentially, a distributed, centreless system much like the Bitcoin network, but able to execute commands more complicated than ‘buy’ and ‘sell,’ and with a wider variety of resources. That could mean this counts as a victory for Bitshares over its main conceptual competitor, Ethereum, a DAC platform that is still in the proof of concept phase.

Nice :)

Did you read the rest of it? It practically criminized Bitshares.
I would say not a very strong article as calling Bitshares a bucketshop is a cheapshot.

+5% thanks for pointing that out.

I just happened to type DACsunlimited in google, this came up in news section. Just copied the first paragraph which seemed good and the link.

Most excellent Brian & Dan!  :)

There's another thread where Stan talks about he and Dan down in St. Barts Martin meeting with some heavy weights from the marketing field. Plans are brewing.  I'll post the link if I can find that thread again.

Edit: Since been pointed out the article is bad. If I'd read more than 1 paragraph.

Did you see this post? The last line especially could be relevant -

We are working with some of the best marketing gurus in the industry and are planning the assault.

This is the primary focus of our trip to st marten.

All I know is some people with serious money are about to buy into btsx and market the hell out of it.

Hi freeworm,

It would be nice if you could increase daily withdrawall limit as 100000BTSX=1.37BTC per day is very low.

Thank you
aloha :)
