General Discussion / Re: Bitshares price discussion
« on: June 10, 2017, 09:25:59 pm »
What's the reason for BTS price finally rising to where it belongs? Any news?

Now, this is very interesting question! Is this @Stan and Hero thing preparing for launch, is it CHbtc with its pump and dump machine or something else? Maybe someone will do proper analysis. Anyway welcome to first 10 market cup club. This is best marketing campaign for Bitshares, ever.

Stan? Are the Larimer's even involved with this project anymore? Thought they jettisoned BitShares after moving on to Steem. Sure felt that way.

After digging around it seems like Stan's back to promote Dan's next thing. The tech is interesting but I personally don't have much faith in the Larimer's business acumen. But who knows, this space is still so young they may not actually need it.

Anyway, as best I can tell the rise is probably a pump based on EOS and CHBTC hype. Or certain people have insider info about BitShares and its development. Wouldn't be the first time.

neat, looking forward to this project. I think esports betting could be pretty popular but ive yet to see a platform that does it right. Best of luck

I personally don't think that CNX has any idea how to market their product(s). Stan promising the moon and consistently under delivering is getting old and has damaged the BitShares brand. Half baked, incohesive marketing efforts have achieved next to nothing. Messaging has been mixed and inconsistent from the inception of this project. I understand that some of these changes have been necessary to maintain or expand the capabilities of the product, but changes have never been communicated in a simple way that does not scare off bag holders or potential users.

Ethereum (our biggest competitor at present, despite what some people might think) is eating our lunch with minimal effort. What's even more telling is that BTS is failing to track BTC following our 'massive' relaunch.

I still have a little bit of faith in the spin-off projects (Music, VOTE, PLAY), but I think BitShares is in a pretty bad spot right now.

Thanks for uploading the chain folder, fixed my syncing issue!

Just reread this thread and realized chryspano had already answered my first question - thanks!

You're good with steps one and two. Once your machine is reset and Bitshares is reinstalled simply launch the client and select File->Import Wallet and select the .json file on the USB stick from step 2. You're good to go.

Oh cool, can't believe I didn't check the file menu ><

Selecting 'Export Wallet' in the file menu should function the same as wallet_backup_create <json_filename>, correct? Doing it this way generated a .json file and it looks good to go, but I just want to be 100% sure!

Also probably a silly question but here is goes: the client does NOT need to be fully sync'd at the time the export/backup is created, right?

Thanks for replies guys, I'll give an update when I'm all set (or if I make a mess of things)!

I'm using the 0.9.2 client on Windows 8 and I don't see a wallet.dat anywhere in appdata\roaming\BitShares

My goal here is to keep my funds and current BitShares account name.

Looking at the console commands in BitShares, it seems I might be able to do the following:

1) run wallet_backup_create <json_filename>
2) move json file to usb stick
3) reformat
4) install bitshares
5) put json backup in appdata\roaming\BitShares\wallets\.backups\default (not exactly sure if this is where the backup json should go)
6) run wallet_backup_restore <json_filename> <wallet_name> <imported_wallet_passphrase>

Is this the easiest path to migrate my wallet/account name/funds t? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! I would like this transition to be as painless as possible :)

dan was the only reason bitshares was worth anything for a long time. hth

Stan's meme's are what brought me here, and it's the reason I stay.

If you haven't noticed, meme's are today's market makers. Meme's are what's moving this entire crypto-economy.

Basically, if your coin is not meme'ing, it's going to die soon. I've tried to keep the meme hashrate up while Stan's mememiner is off, but I will need some help soon or we're all doomed.

Secret sauce and actual coding can only take a project so far, meme's take it the rest of the way! So fire up that mememiner Stan and help me raise the meme hashrate back up to desirable levels so we can move this price to teh m00n!

calling all memesters! the next few days are critical. we need your help

c'mon guys, is it really that surprising that eddie, an incumbent in an industry known for exclusivity, plays a critical role on this project?

Hmmm....what's the fastest way to get my hands on some BTS? I tried trading with Shapeshift...and if the block explorer is correct, that apparently did not work and I lost about $5 in BTC (probably should have tested with a lower amount). Any suggestions?

Definitely metaexchange. Prices are real good and the experience is always great. Nice and fast delivery too.

Seconding this. www.metaexchange.info and www.blocktrades.us usually have the best spreads, though shapeshift can be competitive on occasion

Resolved my issue as well, had to reindex 3 times but all good now!

I am getting the same issue. I have reindexed, deleted peers_leveldb, and have left the client running for about an hour but not luck so far. I will try running in terminal when I get home to see if I can get a more detailed error log.

On version 0.9.2 Windows 8.1 64bit
