I don't think you are going to have a year or two to accumulate.  Everything in crypto moves faster... either this ship is sailing and worth billions in 2 years, or its bouncing along the bottom and something superior has replaced it.

Debit cards are the same fee as credit cards...

-6% credit card fee
(500 --> 469)
-bitcoin trading at 274 on coin.mx... compared to 264 on other exchanges (approximately a 5.3% fee when converting to poloniex where btc was valued at 260!)
(469 --> 444)
-having a total of 1.599 btc... and buying thin orderbook had me buy bitshares at .0000289 vs the lowest ask being .0000284.  Then getting valued at the highest bid of .0000259.  Approx 3.9% fee.
(444 --> 426)

and it looks like I lost another $15 in there somewhere.  Notice I counted spreads and mark to market as fees.

hmm.....  where are you ?
Is something like an Ripple Gateway be a cheaper solution for you ?

I haven't looked into ripple, but I am located in the US.  I never really went through a breakdown of how much it costs me to buy bts after all the fees, but this was pretty eye opening..

Just bought more bitshares... Started with a deposit of $500 and by the time my bitshares moved to my wallet, the overall value was $411.  That is a crazy ridiculous amount of fees and a lot of hassle.  A low cost gateway would make a killing if they are brave enough to work with bitshares.

Granted I did use a credit card to buy the bitcoin, so there was a 6% fee for that...
Yea thats the problem that crypto solves... who charges the 6%? was it a conversion charge of fiat?

It was a deposit fee to coin.mx...  They recently lowered their fee from 10% for a credit card to 5.89%... What a joke, but I wanted to get in at these low bts prices.  It made my total cost per bts at $0.0083, which is a huge premium compared to the current market.

Wait a second!

Why doesn't everything work perfect the first time?

This is BS!

We should all be millionaires by now!

This is outrage!

Granted, I don't contribute anything to the code base or much else for that matter, but dammit, I want to be a millionaire...STAT!

This lack of continuous perfection from the dev team is really putting a damper on future plans to make it rain in Monaco.

Bitshares devs - Look, I realize this is new and experimental technology relying on difficult and complex knowledge I will never be able to do myself, but jeez already - You should have seen how good my Braveheart fan page was when I was learning basic HTML back in the 90's (it had a lot of picture of Sophie Marceau, so I know it was complex and awesome) How hard can cryptographic systems of consensus and decentralized exchanging of polymorphic digital assets be...shit - WHERE ARE MY MILLIONS????????????????

LOL that literally sums up 99% of complainers... not saying that I am excluded from said complainers.

Random Discussion / Re: I have lost faith inBTS completely
« on: March 21, 2015, 12:29:48 pm »
By saying you've lost faith in BitShares you are meaning you've lost faith in the community, the dozens of hardworking people that are trying to make BitShares a success.
People that spend hours, days and weeks in the last months to build and promote the most promising Blockchain project since Bitcoin. What have you done for BitShares?

But I believe even without you aboard the sun will rise again tomorrow.

However, live long and prosper.

Lets go back to work...

those "lost faith in x" threads are common in every crypto community. most of the time it's either a daytrader, frustrated with no quick cash or some FUDster trying to pressure the price to buy in cheap.

I will move this thread to random, since it doesn't add any value at all to this sub
[/quothe

Just because someone posted a negative opinion doesn't mean it doesn't add value.  This kind of opinion should be taken seriously instead of sweeping it under the rug... Frankly I'm starting to agree with the OP.  There is absolutely no utility for bitshares.  We all thought we could issue equity with it, but have now realized it's a regulatory nightmare.  We also thought that we would get a bitshares fiat gateway, but that is also a painful journey down the regulatory rabbit hole. Investors are realizing that these things can only be done by people with deep pockets and a tolerance for going to prison... Maybe someone will try it, but frankly I don't think it's worth the orange jump suit risk.

And another thing, everyone has such a hard on for bitUSD and MPAs.  Why?  I don't see how it's all that revolutionary... Yeah yeah I get how its backed by 3x collateral ot whatever, but that is suffocating and make shooting difficult and asymetricly risky compared to buying bitUSD.  You can see all this buy the super low interest rates being offered by shorts over the last months and buy the dying market cap of bit assets.

General Discussion / Re: Yunbi's two delegates back at the top
« on: March 19, 2015, 04:04:25 pm »
Not sure its that big of a problem... the largest stake holders should have the greatest ability to elect the delegates they want.  It would suck for everyone if they decided to play against their clients and elect delegates that harm the ecosystem, but that would seem very difficult and expensive to do.  Once more people start voting, BTC38's impact won't matter that much.

General Discussion / Re: What's happening with the price?
« on: March 13, 2015, 02:20:45 am »

Why the fuck the release data changed again and again?
This is a very  slow progress.
Thats why the price was acting like a shit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You have a terrible attitude and nobody owes you anything.

What are you doing to make bitshares better besides bitching?
terrible attitude?thats the fucking reality.
Don‘t acting you do a lot to bitshares, bitch.
I have tons of shares to vote  for 100% delegate,I bought and mined PTS since day 1,you dare say i do nothing to bitshares?
你们这些老外一个个就是装逼犯,一天不装逼就不舒服

I understand the frustration with the delayed release, but as toast posted a while ago, 1.0 is over hyped and shouldn't be a huge catalyst or mystery potion for the price.

Still, throwing temper tantrums and spewing insults isn't going to get more people to buy bitshares or get the devs to even consider your opinion.  Why not focus all this energy on something productive for bitshares? Unless of course you want to see it fail...

Usually the milestones are updated once a day on github... and there appears to have been progress every day over the last week or so.

The problem isn't with bitshares, it is with crypto 2.0...  A look at coinmarketcap over the last week shows money flowing out of the 2.0 projects and into bitcoin.  Bitcoin has been the best performer out of the top 10 crypto currencies over the last week

What she is saying isn't necessarily untrue... There are so many articles on how bitcoin is the future of finance, that it might not be a bad thing to have a video looking at the darkside of crypto

Stakeholder Proposals / Re: Freebieservers.com is here

You have my vote... You may want to begin doing work before your delegates get voted in.  It may take weeks before you accumulate enough votes and showing your commitment early will expedite the process.

General Discussion / Re: Indexcoin White Paper - Hello Bitshares
« on: March 07, 2015, 04:48:21 pm »
What happens to index coin when bitcoin falls to 3rd or 4th in market cap? Will there be a rebalancing of the coin based on the highest valued coin (which will be BTS soon btw)?  Also I don't understand how this creates jobs and eliminates traffic jams...

General Discussion / Re: The BitShares Online Web Wallet is ready...
« on: March 07, 2015, 12:47:49 pm »
Can the web wallet integrate the entrance of some gateway or bridge? Then people can loggin to the web wallet and directly deposit fiat and receive bitAsset. It just like the deposit directly from fiat to bitasset. It will be much smooth for people to come in.

As soon as Bitshares implements a fiat onramp, the banks and governments will be all over this, NOT good. Just use the centralized exchanges to send your fiat to bitcoin then xfer to bitshares.

You may be the only person on the forum that believes that.  We are dead if we don't get fiat on/off ramps.

General Discussion / Re: Sold all of my Bitshares
« on: March 07, 2015, 12:43:42 pm »
...
It has become obvious through the recent happenings on these forums that a large bulk of Bitshares in circulation are held by a somewhat small group of investors who have successfully gagged the developers ...

No investor like a coin that is controlled by a small group of people. The fact has to be verified. If this is true, there needs to be transparency on when this control is over.

I believe it actually the opposite and investors love when whales take positions. Look at how stocks react when Icahn or other big hedge funds take a large position.  Most rocket up when the reports come out.  Most investors feel comfort when they follow a whale
