I for one miss seeing newmine's posts. He may have been a bit over the top, but hell there's been at least some truth to a lot of what he's said over time. BitShares needs its critics so it can know what it's doing wrong and find ways to fix the problem through open discussion. But I see everyone's ready to just grab a pitchfork around here and demand silence from any who dare speak ill of the almighty BTS.

That's why they want everyone to move over to steem... So the Larimer Lemmings can downvote anyone who doubts the messiah.

You haven't thought this through (I know it hurts, but brains need exercise too).

Any post on this Forum could be banished, without a vote, at the whim of a moderator. And many of the moderators are actually the very people that you seem to be accusing of desiring censorship of contrary opinion.

Moderators can, and do, delete spam and phising posts, but seem to tolerate a great deal of rude and obnoxious behavior and trolling.  The filtering of spam is accomplished at steemit.com by the community's downvotes, not a moderator's. Why do you think that there is going to be the inevitability of censorship of contrary opinion there if it is not happening here?

But, most importantly, positive effort, planning and work on behalf of BitShares can be and is being rewarded at steemit.com but definitely not here.

Yeah it's being rewarded in paper steem dollar profits.  Let me know when you can actually cash that out.  I have a feeling people are going to be disappointed when they realize that their upvotes and "positive" effort and planning internet forum posts don't equate into the thousands of dollars they were promised.

But whatever... Let the lemmings come and tell me how wrong I am and steem will work flawlessly and Dan has finally found the formula that never allows a coins market cap to go down.

If you want to see censoring of contrary opinion via communities go over to a yahoo finance board and look at the upvotes or downvotes on a stock... People downvote anyone who says anything that goes against their financial bias.

Lol whatever happened with this? Stan sounded so excited about it back in October, then it just kind of faded away. Feels like ever since STEEM came around all these huge possibilities for BitShares just went down the shitter. And why did Stan allude that the BTS market cap would "catch up to ETH this summer" not even three weeks prior to the STEEM announcement where the devs effectively put BTS on lockdown? I had naively assumed that all of Stan's rumblings of "something huge in the works", "just wait and see", et al actually meant that something HUGE was coming, but it seems that "secret sauce" was just STEEM all along. The whole series of events these past 2 months is completely bizarre to me.

...and I wish the forums here were active again. I've been here for nearly the past 2 years, and to see forum activity dwindle away to nothing hits right in the feels. And no, the steemit forums aren't a suitable replacement.  :(

The chinese figured Stan out a long time ago... I believe the saying was "Stan is full of hot air".  Ever since I've been around bitshares, I've read Stan's pump posts and listened to his pump interview on the cryptofresh video.  Most stuff never came true and seemed like an attempt to garner buy support while the founders cashed out.

What the Larimers are doing seems be walking the fine line of legality.  They sold tons of shares in various investments and have abandoned most of them.  Now I know many will say "bitshares is a decentralized token and your money was a donation".  But I think a Lawyer would have a different opinion since I3 paraded around as the Board of bitshares.  They even called their office "Bitshares".

Plus there is the fact that they sold their investments based on a promise of sharedrops.  They then go create a new investment based on the same technology and don't sharedrop.  Sounds pretty fraudulent to me.

There are a lot of "projects" coming out of the woodwork now that people have seen how easily crypto investors part with their cash.

Most seem borderline scammy and there is no recourse for investors if the projects go belly up or if the founders leave with the cash.  Maybe you have some hope if you are in the us, but if your investing in something foreign you have virtually zero share holder rights.

The larimers have shown how easy it is to keep selling different crypto investments.  They have assumed they have zero binding to their early investors, who they describe as donators.  You're only good to them if your buying into their latest projects.  I'm not sure how much longer they will be able to do this before people get wise or regulatory authorities take a closer look at what is going on.

bitshares is the only project that has broken free of centralized control of preminers/founders.  Unfortunately it is the perfect tool for scammers to separate a fool and his money.

And please no one give me the "can't fault them for trying to put food on the table" argument.  Fact is they are taking your food off of your plate.  How long people will keep starving themselves to fund pie in the sky pipe dreams remains to be seen.

https://steemit.com/crypto-news/@dan/is-the-dao-going-to-be-doa

Bytemaster wrote a great article on this over on steemit.

(I'm 100% against the blanket poaching of BitShares forum users to the subforums of a vaguely related project. However.. that article above is a good read.)

I saw a great article on PTS/AGS before written by a Bitcoiner .
I wish I had believed it .  :P :P

however , if you think about it , everybody can write something on why something can not come true , especially in the crypto world .
you're bound to become a good predictor if you bash enough projects .

Yea it is kinda funny...  BitShares was likely hurt by Dan's bashing of Ethereum, so he continues on with The DOA.  "Dead on Arrival!" .. clever.. but not really.  He'll get all the people new to ETH or those not paying attention also against Steemit.

Quote
I do think some bashing is needed to properly analyze the validity of some non-sense BitShares based tokens like xxxx-non-sense-new-money ......
You aren't invested in new money?  Word has it, the founder is a Vitalik Buterin/Steve Jobs type.  It is the new Apple and IBM of the blockchain.  He's learned that marketing the blockchain failed. The most telling was that guy's reaction when he found out he could sell brownie.pts.  Obviously he sold them, but he wasn't even aware there was a marketplace to sell them !  Epic.

And don't forget his product is a new currency that he so humbly named after himself... and he says you shouldn't invest in it if you think the Us dollar will still be around in a few years.  This has winner written all over it!

Where do I sign up??

General Discussion / Re: Move Bitsharestalk to Steemit?

While I agree I3/Larimers/CNX totally raked their shareholders (of ags/pts/btsx/dns/brownies/bts2.0 and soon to be steem) over the coals... there's not much we can do now.  I would say they perhaps knowingly overpromised and embelished in order to sell share's in their investment.  It's not the first or last time that this has happened int he investment world.

Back to moving bts to steem.

Personally I think the format for steem needs a lot of work.  It's basically 5 or 6 people spamming articles trying to earn pay.  Most articles have nothing to do with blockchains or fintech.  Plus there is no way to sort articles by recent responses.  I feel like I have to re read to whole thread just to find the latest comment.  This forum does a good job saving your history of recently viewed or responded to posts.  Until steem can replicate some of the good features of this forum, I don't think talk should be moved over their.  Plus steem is super unorganized.

Is Bunkerchain Labs Inc willing to confirm the licensing arrangement with Cryptonomex Inc for the Graphene technology used in Peerplays?

Has Bunkerchain Labs Inc retained the license grant prior to the ICO, or do they anticipate gaining the license grant in the future?

Will any amount of ICO funds raised offset Graphene licensing fees?

Isn't graphene now under MIT licensing?

Will any of the betting servers be located in the US?  It's against federal law for a US based server to take sports bets.  Not sure how everything will be setup, but hopefully this was taken into account.

@Nietzsche26

I'm interested in how this works in the real world.

So for example:
8 poker players in a game.
2 of them collude.
They agree to lose against each other and then split the profits?

But what if they both lose to any one of the other 6 players?
Or do they collude to increase their odds?
For example they have a 2/8 chance of winning instead of 1/8?

This is assuming all players have an equal skill level.

2 players colluding in an 8 person game gives those players a much higher chance of winning than 2/8.  I would say 1 of the 2 players would win 80% or more of the games they play in.

Hello Ken,

Thanks for your time on the phone today.

As we discussed, your app facilitates the transmission of a virtual currency that is not approved for the App Store. In order for your currency to be considered the market cap would need to be very large.

You may submit an appeal to the App Review Board. Please allow up to one business day for an initial response from the App Review Board.

Please feel free to contact me at +1-408-974-2992 between 8AM-5PM Pacific Daylight Time if you need further clarification.

Best regards,
Bill
App Store Review

same old blah blah blah, back to square 1 in other words, a run-around.

I understand where Apple is coming from.  There are hundreds of coins out there and I'm guessing they do not have the man power to vet all of them.  Perhaps you could supply them with a short report that address's some of their concerns.

-Use cryptofresh to demonstrate the amount of transactions being made and orders being filled.  Show them people use this already and would use it even more if the app was available to apple customers.
-Talk about how long bitshares has been around with 0 security issues.  Talk about the stability and decentralization that bts has achieved.

What Apple is worried about is that a customer uses the wallet and then somehow loses their money or virtual currency due to an unsecure blockchain or bug.  It's a valid reason for them not to approve the currency.

Also you need to consider that Apple makes money from in app purchases.  This gives them an incentive to allow the apps.  Does the bts wallet offer anything like this?

236
ok, so Apple's app store approvals manager just called me. no name given.
Bitshares is not an "approved currency" and will never be looked at until our "market cap is in the tens of millions" he said. Seriously, those were his exact words, verbatim. I said but but but... I see little po-dunk race car games in the app store that will never see a download in their lifetime and yet those are all being approved, I am very curious as to why we have to be valued in the "tens of millions" before we will be "considered".

Honestly guys, I am very sorry, but I have had it with Apple for a while. I have spent way too many hours trying to appease these people and must move on to our other projects. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Isn't bitshares market cap in the "tens of millions"?

Smartcoins POS for Odoo now has the rewards card features complete, just need to do some more UI tweaks to it now:
https://youtu.be/sOiKmYqrm-c?list=PLjbx3qSmDe7RYkRMIEuFyYyG7_vvKgou0

Apple finally called me today, I kept them on the phone for nearly 30 minutes, but alas I could not convince them that the name Bitshares was just a token on a blockchain like Bitcoin, Litecoin, etc. They are standing firm that Bitshares is "not an approved currency", so, I said since we are not able to change the name of our token to anything else and the blockchain cannot be modified, I have asked to speak with the manager of the department so that our tokens can "be approved" by Apple. Awaiting that guy's call next. This sucks man cuz I have another wallet, and the smartcoins pos standalone app that I want to get into the apple app store, so will they deny all 3 now? If I do not get anywhere with this manager guy, then I will have to hire a professional to get our apps into the apple app store.

soooo... Please check out our OPENPOS token....
Thank you for your patience guys, I am doing everything I can to get us in their app store.

FTFY - Please BUY the OPENPOS token to gain exposure to the profits generated from ODOO

Is there any way that peer plays could be shut down by regulators if gambling is deemed illegal in a user's area?

Would you say this is truly decentralized or more of a centralized solution that uses the blockchain?  If it is the latter, what advantage does doing this on a blockchain have vs just using a centralized server?

239
What were some of the main reasons that prevented you from building this on bitshares?

I would be much more willing to invest in some of these projects if everyone wasn't a fork of bts... Also the "donation" word was used by Dan a lot to basically free himself of any obligation to his early investors.  I would say most ags investors were not thrilled with the final outcome.

Relax, it's a poll, and anyone should be able to vent all kind of ideas,
which might be helpful to reach a better understanding or a new,
even more confusing idea worthwhile of further exploration.

One thing all can learn, avoiding ad hominem attacks is  +5%
Show all how smart you are re-phrasing more constructively.

We maybe need only a more streamlined reputation system,
one that works across all roles? I don't know, we'll find out…

I hope that knowledgeable people will jump in and explain …

This thread has been basically dead for almost a year...
