USB Yeti :/
No interface.

I sang through an f'ing pillow with gain turned all the way down... from 3-4 feet away.

maybe the yeti is not good for singing loud rock songs...?

How do you sing through a pillow?

I asked my sound engineer about your yeti problem and he just puckered his face and said better to get a different mic and a "real" recording interface.

I'm of limited help when it comes to the technical aspects of recording, but can offer a few thoughts:  Generally you want to be 6" - 1' away from the mic.  The room you're recording in will make a huge difference.  Try to be in a smaller space with no sharp/pointy/bouncy edges.  Use carpets, hang blankets, etc.

When listening to your second recording I still hear a lot of distortion.  Your voice is lovely and needs a good setup to do it justice!

Poked about online and this yeti thread may be helpful:  http://recording.org/index.php?threads/blue-yeti-voice-not-clear.54607/

If the yeti doesn't end up working for you and you decide to go with another mic/interface setup it'd be worth checking into used presonus or mo2u - good deals can often be found on those..

is this your stuff??!  This is some epic new age poetry!  Add in these instrumentals...I love it.
Yes!  We're currently a trio.  I'm the violinist, co-composer, and sometimes lyricist.

Do you happen to know why my voice seems so fuzzy when I have to put force behind it?  I am using a blue yeti and I have read it is a decent mic for vocals...but it seems to not do justice.
Hard to say.  How close are you to the mic? What interface/equipment besides the mic are you using to record?

This is brilliant!  And one of the most concise explanations of the why/what is blockchain for those unfamiliar with it that I've seen.  Cool to see it put into song!

Oh Fuzzy, reading through this forum your posts in particular have rekindled my affection for the human race, but hearing your voice soar reignited it.      * You shine *     I rarely get inspired by doing cover songs, but I may have to give it a try.

In the meantime, here's a song called Threshold that my band recorded a few months ago.  For me it definitely relates to the spirit of this community, especially as I think of what I was so fired up about when I wrote the lyrics.

The threshold’s reached
The threshold’s breached
We’re through the other side

The dance with chance and circumstance
has left our minds revived.

There's also another track on the EP called Know What You Mean that we were in the midst of mixing soon after I joined the forum, and I have JoeyD and bits on this post https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=9718.msg129893#msg129893 to thank for leading me to the samples that were added to the song.

Stan put forward:

Bitshares. You can bank on it.

This is extensible:

Bitshares. You can bet on it.
Bitshares. You can vote on it.
Bitshares. You can trade on it.

or simpler/meme -ier:

Bitshares.  Bank on it.

etc..

In the end, the party labels and the regular pendulum swing between them in these elections is doing little to address the fact that we are using our planet's resources at a voraciously unsustainable pace and polluting much faster than the planet's ability to heal, that kids are being treated with drugs instead of nourished, while their schools cannot afford pencils, that the economy is run by big banks, agriculture is run by chemical companies, the middle class and upward mobility have nearly disappeared, and meanwhile we are spending trillions of dollars we don't have to prop up a house of cards...those are the things that Obama and Cruz don't even talk about. Because they understand it is the big financial elites that run the world. Presidents, Senators, and governments just work for them.

Besides, the anacronym DAZ has more pizzazz!

I don't want to detract from your post, but "DAZ" reminded me of "The DAZ Doorstep Challenge" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yeO0AhKPW5Y

Sorry...a bit of light relief  :P

lol!

Well, since it has to do with laundry soap, I'll continue with the stream-of-consciousness links: "Instant Mix Imperial Democracy, Buy One Get One Free:     http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QLnMWZ_VQ5M

I think losing the word autonomous is a terrible idea, for a few reasons:

1) It's an opportunity to reintroduce the concept of autonomy (freedom from external control or influence; independence), to those in whom it is absent

2) "Decentralized Autonomous" speaks to the vision you articulated in A Philosophy of Freedom published on bitshares.org:  "The point of the Invictus Movement is to show a new way, the DAC way, of governing society in a decentralized voluntary way. A way that is entirely non-violent and yet inescapable in its ability to motivate just outcomes, fair trade, and enforcement of contracts."

In relation to the idea of governance the word automated invokes in me, and I think it would for many others, a chilling dread.  The word automated feels dead, static.  The word autonomous is dynamic, requires action...

Automated/Application leaves room in the imagination for the Borg.  Autonomous leaves room in the imagination for non-violence and just outcomes.

3) While the blockchain is an automated application, a DAC by this or any other name requires the participation of people to be brought to life, so I'd emphasize the involvement aspect/benefits in your marketing.

“Words belong to those who use them only till someone else steals them back.”
― Hakim Bey, TAZ: The Temporary Autonomous Zone

If I were the benevolent dictator  :) ;) :D     I would go with Decentralized Autonomous Zone.

Zone:  noun 1. any continuous tract or area that differs in some respect, or is distinguished for some purpose, from adjoining tracts or areas, or within which certain distinctive circumstances exist or are established.

Within a Zone you could have corporations, companies, communities, cooperatives, clowns, and all the other letters of the alphabet.

Besides, the anacronym DAZ has more pizzazz!

My conclusion is that users will almost always be brought in via a helper service and that this thread was mostly to get the idea out of my head and discarded as well as spur ideas on how to make it easier for people to get into BTS.

I was wondering about this on a smaller/niche level - musicians/digital artisans as helper services, offering a particular track/item for a small donation w/entry of account name, and .01 BTS is sent to register your account.

Didn't notice this comment by BM, but I think my solution (above) actually solves the issue without circumventing the "helper service", which I agree is the most logical entry point. In fact I think the BTS website could require account registration with a built-in faucet before downloading the client. This way users will simply launch their client and enter their user/pass to get started.

that does sound so much simpler (for the user)
