General Discussion / Re: Looking for a tech to run my delegate
« on: January 07, 2015, 11:02:39 am »
You'll get my vote and my full support also  +5%

You have watched his said campaign video I suppose, otherwise you are acting unprofessional as you are sort of "official" imo.

Ive watched all his video interviews so far, and read his book. He is a real pro. He has my full support as well.  He is helping to get things going as much or more than anyone I know.

I have watched them too. The point remains that he already will enjoy the fruits of everyone elses labor with this bonus and there is no way to decouple him from this unfair advantage.  What he will make from the marketcap doubling will not be shared by the others who have contributed to that increase.  Can you honestly say he is the only person in a non development role who deserves the deal he is already getting?  It should be a simple, and honorable choice.  Either play fair with all the other marketing delegates by tearing up the previous contract and running his own delegate, share the bonus with all community marketing members, or just dont run a delegate.

I dont like my chances of convincing you otherwise tickle, but I think you could look at this another way.

1. All delegates and stake holders are tied together.  We either all win or we all lose.  There is no way to de-couple that.  And it works both ways.   I could do an outstanding job and the tech team could never release protocol 1.0 and I get nothing. This is business.  In my busineess that I am ignoring while I work on bitshares, I have marketers, tech teams and CEO's all on incentive structures based on revenues and profits. There is no way to de-couple.  It would be great if there were, but there is not.   I would rather be judged on some nice neat metric that I have total control over. A metric that is not affected by others. I am very confident in my ability to get views and drive interest in BirShares. Unfortunately I must take the team risk like everybody else.

2. In any large organization there are lots of different payrates/ salaries/ bonuses, etc. That is because everyone has different value. There is no point grumbling about that. I certainly did not grumble that Brian got X, or Stan gets Y or Bytemaster gets Z. I just made a proposal to BM which he accepted and got to work.  All I can do is be open and honest and that agreement and make a proposal. The share holders will decide if I am delivering enough value to receive their vote. The market will speak shortly and I will have to live with their decision just like every other delegate proposal must.

Accept your pay already will reward you handsomely if ANY marketing delegate or initiative becomes effective...even if your own efforts fail (Is this a fair measure of value?) This is a blatant mischaracterisation of fairness in this system because you obviously refuse to tear up the prior contract...or share it.

No others got this deal and the last time i checked the community didnt sign off on it.  This is perfectly obvious. You are somehow as an appendage of brians days here grandfathered into a contract that will no doubt be very beneficial to you in the long term, but that is no longer enough.

Even you once said you felt it would be unfair for you to run a delegate because of this and now you are completely turning a 180?

HI everyone,

I will begin campaigning for a couple delegate positions in the near future.   edit: 1 payroll and 1 marketing funds

In the spirit of Bytemaster and others I am looking for someone who wants to specialize in doing that. Keep 3% for themselves and pass the remaining 97% on to me weekly.

Maintaining regular price feeds is very important of course.   For the sake of decentralization, I am very interested in non-US based individuals, but that is just one factor.  If you are interested and have a reputation here please post here.

Cheers
Max

Why only 3% passing to the helper delegate ? All current helper delegates are rewarded 5% and are passing 95% of funds...
After all, active delegates right now already earns 3% and at least at current market cap the expenses are much more (VPS,time etc.). Why should they add more responsibilities for the same payrate? Don't you think you must pay the same at least like all the others do ? Not to mention possible risk's that helper delegates take...I am still not sure if 5% is even enough.... am I missing something again?

PS of course we will support your delegates

For one thing, u are missing the point that he will get a percentage of total marketcap increase as pay.  So if the marketcap doubles, he will get a handsome % that no other person will get.  he will already be compensated in a way as though he alone contributed to the rise.  And he has made it plain and ear he doesnt want to give that up (who would?).

On top of that he now wants to run a 100% delegate? At what point to people speak up on sheer principle?

All good questions. All answered in my delegate campaign video.  I am only asking for 1 payroll delegate.

Now people please... leave me some thunder for my delegate campaign video    :P

I anticipated these questions and many more in the video, but let me get set up first.

You said in the OP you are planning on running a couple of delegates.  That is a misstype?

I will wait for your video but u need to understand you already have a pretty good deal that no other marketing delegates got.  Not only that but u were hired by someone who was a net negative on marketing.  If i were you id choose one or the other (with a preference u refuse the bonus that no other marketing delegate gets). First and foremost you should try to earn the trust of the community so letting yourself have a deal no one else gets seems a bit much on its own.  But then adding a delegate (or a couple) is just taking it too far.

Im  not saying you should work free. Im saying choose either your bonus or a delegate position.  It is not that hard to see how obviously simple a decision this should be. All it takes is believing in the principles of this project enough to put yourself on a level playing field.

Hi Toast,  Thanks for the questions.

When I campaign for the delegate position, I will be completely transparent on all of that, and what funds will be used for.  I have already made a video so I would just rather release that video at the appropriate time and I actually have a delagate that people can vote for.  I am not trying to avoid the question.

I won't be trading anything off though.  In the same way devs have received a salary and a year end bonus, I received a conditional rewards contract that is back-end heavy.  All the work I have put in so far is not for the rewards I have received but for the rewards I will receive after bitshares market cap has increased another order of magnitude or two.

The delegate payroll I will campaign for will be in addition to this contract in the same way dev deleagates are in addition to their payouts and bonuses.

As I said there will be full disclosure in my campaign video and the community can decide if a 101 delegate position is appropriate.

How much have you already received and does the community marketing team think this is fair? Their rewards are on the backend too,  but they werent given anything.  They are working on delegate pay alone or even worse are working on bts they bought with their own money.

How many delegates are you planning on running btw on top of the bonus?

Will you split your bonus evenly with all community marketing people?

One delegate imo is too much if you are not sharing the marketcap bonus with all community marketers. But then to ask for two?  This needs cleared up.

Why are you in a panic over ethereum? I don't even understand what they will offer on march 20 that should cause people to buy the token.

Mist is a good start. A crypto web browser is the ultimate funnel.

"Invincibility lies in the defense" - The Art of War

My point, precisely.  Of course that is if we really mean what we say when we act like we want to truly change a paradigm to give the power back to each other. If we just want to get rich and "freedom and liberty for all" is just a marketing pitch, then I guess this becomes a different conversation.

I am receiving quite a bit of negative feedback in other places so I am going to open up a poll for it here on the forums.

It is up to you guys if I do this now.

I have added a Poll Above, Please Vote on it to give your opinion.

This^
But I understand the OP.

Don't forget we have Ron Paul Money coming along too.  Perfect place to setup delegates for our future legal team and the community that grows around them to help.

Any dev can sharedrop on any coin. Being prick to those who prefer to honor dpos coins will just push them to honor communities who they feel will be more thankful. What are you going to do when they start doing this? Sue them?

Either work to make your chosen dpos coin shine above all others, invest in all of them and be lazy knowing one of them will pay future dividends or stop whining. Those are the options. Literally.

General Discussion / Re: ripple rally
« on: December 18, 2014, 08:24:59 am »

I personally NEVER hold any value in any IOUs inside ripple, but rather use them for what they are meant to be used:

Cash-in & Cash-out.
Then what is the point of even attempting decentralization?  Why not just make ripple a centralized service completely?  It seems like it would be much easier.

Sir,

You confuse Ripple labs majority position in XRP the asset with control of the network or protocol.

Ripple is nether a PoW NOR a PoS ledger, it uses Ripple Consensus which is entirely different.

You or I are absolutely no less privileged from the point of Ripple consensus than Ripple labs.

At this time the DEFAULT UNL list contains RL nodes when you download the server but you can change it to whatever list of nodes you want. You are also free to lobby other nodes to add your servers.

De-facto the UNL nodes on most of the hundreds of rippled nodes out there still do contain RL nodes thereby keeping the network centralized at this time, in the long run banks will start listing each other thereby creating a de facto cartel but without a central operator and the network will become as decentralized as Internet routing is today

The way I understand it, banks are already  "a de facto cartel but without a central operator", so unlike most other crypto projects, I guess I am having trouble understanding how Ripple will help purge the earth of these scumbags.

In any case, with the rapidly increasing display of spectacular incompetence from our financial overlords, I suspect it won't be long before people start searching for a solution that cuts all existing banking powers out of the loop completely. As this shift is all but inevitable, I won't be losing too much sleep over Ripple's growing market cap.

It wont. That is its beauty!

Can we get a mac version please?

I'm with you - cube is working on it!

What is pts goinv to be used to buy? Why would someone use a sharedrop target to buy stuff? This doesnt make sense.

I would recommend an announcement in the Chinese forum too, I suspect they're the bigger market.
I really like the PTS website too... http://www.ptscrypto.com/

Is there a basic Chinese website translation planned?

should also be the "evolution of crypto-equities" instead of "the evolution of money".  Nice site overall though.

Imo, BitShares is a crypto-equity that changes it's supply based on the value of opportunities. PTS is a 'Crypto-money', it has no inflation on a profitable blockchain, with 10 second, anonymous, cheap transactions. As a pure crypto-currency it's far superior to Bitcoin imo even though it won't challenge BitShares.

Yep. I think they should merge the PTS and AGS and cut the supply in half.  Make is a Berkshire Hathaway it far more valuable and thereby fixing the issues ags holders have with this.  Best way to go.
It ties up every loose end you guys have and attracts wealthy crypto investors because it is a great mechanism for diversification by default for basic investors and it is a new frontier for crypto trading.

General Discussion / Re: Making Proof of Work as Predictable as DPOS
« on: November 30, 2014, 11:20:00 pm »
Doesnt mining still burn energy needlessly that could be put into the ecosystem?  What is the point of making blocks predictable like dpos when dpos is still better?  Just curious.
