General Discussion / Re: Can we Clone OmniBazaar?
« on: November 10, 2014, 03:32:09 pm »
No public tip of the hat and the cold shoulder.....bizzare.

People still don't get how competition in this market works.

Heh?

You can clone the code, but must build your own network effect.

I say we let those who wish to continue PTS do so and wish them well.   I think it is a positive initiative.

Thanks for not being crazy, BM! It always makes me happy when you share my opinion :)

To all the anti-PTS people out there: it seems like the biggest argument against PTS is that somehow it will compete against BTS. This assumes that crypto is a zero-sum game, that the amount of wealth in crypto is fixed, that one coin's gain must come out of another coin's loss. Since when has the Bitshares community ever been so small-minded, so unambitious?

Everybody here should see the fallacy in the above thinking: if bitshares is the world-changing tech we all think it is, it will bring in more wealth than all other cryptos combined and PTS will be a tiny drop in the bucket in comparison. Do you really think that BTS is so fragile that its success will be threatened by a simple featureless DPOS chain?

Feel for you guys....must suck being the best team in crypto and somehow one of the most attacked.
we get attacked? Where? From whom?
Sure you are not talking NXT here?

Somehow someone calling this a ponzi just blows my mind.

trouts!!! l was not drunk  and it was my intention to bring up those issues, just wanted to see your reactions, seems that most of you whoever responded is part of this team smell(ponzi) .but this is good for business how many snapshots you are willing to have by end of 2015 if each snapshots leave 2k btc to dev team l would like to part of it as well. well, many ppl has lost too many btc so far because of your undecisive behaviour, dns just live few weeks, pts not known yet.btsx future unknown.and finally partnering with an ex CEO(wait and see)
ander this for u u f...k face moron don t be trout. soon you gonna see a nice article about this in a crypto magazine

now Bye

BTSX future unknown? thats not right either. BTSX is integrating DNS and VOTE and getting rebranded as BTS.

the developers and marketers (independent from BTS) can hire whoever they want. it's the delegates that matter in the end.

hope this helps.

Rule of thumb: if devs take the same risks and are similarly rewarded to their investors...and can then turn around a d feed their families from the profit and support more value creation...it is a ponzi.

That is a very vague rule of thumb... define risk, define reward, and define profit.

No need.  If you create value for everyone and benefit in the process.  It is a ponzi! (actually quite the opposite but i want him to feel included)

Ethereum will probably clone bts and showed interest in honoring AGS/PTS with new versions...

SuperDACs can be cloned too...

The holders and buyers of Protoshares still perceive that they have value.  What is wrong with them attempting to regrow some value?  There are some compelling reasons to do so....

Other DAC's may be built using the barest version of the Bitshares Toolkit like DPOS Protoshares
Holders of Protoshares represent an interesting demographic for future Bitshares Toolkit snapshot consideration to engage their support
The Bitshares super DAC may well incorporate innovations that come from the barest of Bitshares Toolkit versions that test experimental niche functionality

The market can decide.

Disclosure - i have a couple of thousand PTS, am very happy with merger and all snapshots to date

Anti competition makes us less money in the long run and makes the system more prone to corruption in the distant future.  Let the market decide is correct imho.  If people dont like it they should provide positive press for bts and ignore pts exists.

70
The existence of PTS does not hurt BTS. PTS is a DAC-agnostic implementation of the core DPOS Toolkit. It does not compete with BTS on features (how could it?) and it is not intended to "generate revenue" in the manner that BTS does. PTS will differ from BTS in the following ways:

* non-inflationary
* no application-specific features
* a jumping off point for 3rd party developers (extensible core DPOS Toolkit)

The anti-diversity crowd who wants to kill PTS is missing the point entirely. Very soon, 3rd party implementations of DPOS will become as common as Bitcoin clones. BTS is a feature-rich DAC with tons of advanced functionality (Pegged-assets, user assets, exchange, Vote, DNS, etc). 3rd party developers who intend to create a competing Vote DAC or a competing exchange DAC will never sharedrop to BTS (although an agnostic PTS would be a great choice). PTS will provide a hedge to investors who care about the Bitshares ecosystem to ensure that this community is vested in the protocol that we helped to fund, rather than just a single application of that protocol. We all hope that BTS succeeds, but the fact is that competition will exist whether we want it to or not. Why not vest yourself in the protocol by owning an agnostic, open-source, and non-competitive sharedrop instrument (PTS) as well as the killer app (BTS)?

With things like omnibazar refusing to honor social consensus we need as many successful pts/ags honoring clones as possible or just watch as everyone forks everything to directly compete with more resources and no concern for anybody who made this possible.

Random Discussion / Re: What happens when you're the first black president?
« on: November 10, 2014, 12:00:24 am »
OP has been so badly deceived in so many ways and on so many levels that I wouldn't know where to begin his disillusionment process.

On the other hand, having any discussion at all with a person who's mind frame is trapped within a framework of partisan politics and parties to begin with .... there is little use presenting any economic realities to him.

Since we are fast approaching Remembrance Day, suffice it to say that he reminds me of the (un)thinking lemmings in the 1st World War who charged into machine gun fire ostensibly for their kin and country but in fact, because they were too lazy and uncritical, for  the profit of another Banker's War. Am I going to celebrate those brain-dead idiots by glorifying their "exploits"? Yeah, right. Go peddle your poppies to today's zombies.

There are better ways to spend your time. Be thankful he is here complaining as opposed to doing something more destructive with his ignorance.

Again rather than ad hominem attacks please try and debunk the numbers I provided in the original post.
The truth is that you won't be able to debunk those numbers as they are factual. You remind me of the climate deniers who choose to believe what they believe despite thousands of scientific papers making the case that our continued fossil fuel use is harming the planet. There is a reason the planet Venus is the hottest planet yet second planet from the sun and it is because it has a high level of carbon dioxide.

As I asked already are we as a nation better off today than we were in 2008-2009? Is the economy growing?  Is unemployment down? Are housing prices up? How is the stock market doing now versus the last few years of Bush? If the economy is better off today there has been significant improvement over the last few years than why has the right been vehemently opposed to the president? They'll say that it is because of his policies blah blah blah but I think it really is because he is a biracial man in the White House. Its so obvious and it has been very obvious since the beginning.

I have news for you.  There is no such thing as republican or democrat.  It is all an illusion.   As for using the word racism...when people use this crap it just means they want to win an argument without substantive points.

I don't really identify as a democrat although I do lean left. There is such a thing as a conservative and progressive. Call it republican or dixiecrat it doesn't matter. Apparently there are visible differences in the brains of both. Most notably conservatives tend to be more anxious and fearful which is why they are xenophobic and quick to go to war even if there are no funds for the war. Oh gotta love W. Liberals have a higher openness to experience and openness to experience is the only personality trait that directly correlates  with intelligence. So yes liberals are in general more intelligent which is why you tend to find a higher percentage of non believers with people who lean left. Seriously it is embarrassing that people believe in ridiculous fairy tales that aren't backed by empirical evidence but in order for evolution to work you do need variance in intelligence. That is why on the one hand you have someone like Ray Kurzweil and on the other you have Sarah Palin who apparently is able to see Russia from her home in Alaska lol.

There is a reason the United States is becoming less conservative. It is because less intelligent conservatives ideas are being displaced by more logical ones. Survival of the fittest.

I've talked to many conservatives in person and live in a conservative states. As I read their body language and ask them questions it becomes very apparent to me that the reason they don't like Obama really is because he is black and they are racists.

As far as winning an argument, if you can please debunk my argument that we are better off now than we were right before Obama became president please do so. Don't post opinionated posts as that doesn't count as evidence.

I dont debunk your numbers...i say that the jobs that from these policies were government jobs and jobs that pay less than average.  Silly boy...errr i mean racist against anybody not black. Go back to reading snopes.

Now tell me what the NDAA is.  Tell me about the IRS scandal and remember you are in company with techies here...

Tell me what the transpacific partnership is about....then you might impress me.

Again.  I am not democrat or republican.  I am a person who thinks for himself and doesnt let the color of anybodies skin get in the way of reason.

PTS  8)
Crazy thing...its almost like a honey badger.

PTS will be the preferred sharedrop instrument of future 3rd party DACs.

Really? Last time I looked, PTS and AGS were co-equal in that respect. And now most everyone is in BTS, so a sharedrop might start there for an updated list of community members.

Which 3rd party DACs are upcoming? X, Music, DNS, Vote, Play: all snapshotted.

If there are talented developers working on PTS, why aren't you working on making the existing DACs a big success? Or working on new DACs?

Clones of dacs with better marketing or business models.  Maybe competitors  to bts.  Or maybe any of the dacs that are still ideas.

75
Why not using your time with something useful?
Maybe you could build a wallet only bts Client, iOS app, Promotion campaigns or anything related to BTS?

PTS did its job very well. Don't keep it artificially alive like they do it with the zombiecoin MMC.
My Heart bleeds when I see you guys wasting (y)our time with this sh..

People who wants pts to die need to promise to never buy them again. People who dont should buy them. Fair.  3rd parties choose what they honor. Not us
