I wish a block explorer would display the "market cap" of a voting quorum. Isn't it under $1m now? It would cost far more than $1m to build an network that has the adoption is has now and the potential to scale to any realistic TPS. The farther it falls the more likely a profit-seeking entity would take charge and rally voters.

assuming someone won't come in again with big worker proposal with complicated idea and rally more BTS than the profit-seeking entity .............

Stakeholder Proposals / Re: [Worker Proposal] Chronos Crypto videos

Why in your video DPOS stands for "Distributed Proof of Stake" ??????

He has no longer any significant stake in BTS.
Is this proven or just rumored?

BM sold several millions of BTS back in March and also transferred 6M BTS to onceuponatime as a compensation for failing to deliver STEALTH - this is visible on cryptofresh.

It's true that BM sold off some significant portion of his BTS holdings prior to formally announcing his departure to Steemit, but I guess it's been obvious for some time that he was dumping shares (with BitShares being so transparent, moves by whales are usually noticed within hours and BM's accounts were closely watched).

Dan has to pay his bills Jakub - he sold his personal holdings. Cryptonomex (the company) and Stan personally still own plenty of bitshares. The money Dan paid me for STEALTH was a very appreciated gesture of goodwill since the project couldn't be completed safely within the given timeframe in a way that I would get the income from it I was expecting. That would have been disastrous because I was expecting that income to fund other BitShares projects (which I have been working on while you were (somewhere?) on hiatus from BitShares activity (not answering Committee enquiries etc and leaving people in the lurch).

He sold his personal shares, which many others still here bitching have done long ago. And this HAD TO BE DONE in order partially to end the stalemate here at BitShares of those unwilling to pay workers. How was he supposed to hold a team together?

And how can you be so blind as to not see that a good deal of development money will go into the hands of BitShares project developers who simply take the trouble to post their projects and their progress on steemit.com? Or do you begrudge this workaround to get funding to the likes of KenCode and Fuzzy? (and others). Have you not noticed how well Cryptoctpus (known as rgcrypto here on this forum) has done on steemit.com? He has earned over $20,000 in just two weeks (after beating his head against the wall trying to online market BitShares earlier). I am pretty damn sure that he will be bringing his newfound funds and experience back to BitShares in the future (as will all the rest of us taking advantage of Dan's newly created opportunity).

Posting negativity here in this forum does ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to add value to BitShares - but hey, it is helping to keep share prices down and I have been buying up bitshares on the cheap continuously for weeks. Thank you (I guess).

give me a break .
He has earned over $20,000 in just two weeks .

Really , that sounds real to you ? You really believe that when he take out the money , it will worth 20,000 ??????
It's just the same with BTS dilution , but worse . It's just paper money . Once people gets it and start to sell it , its price will drop dramatically .

So I am trying to withdraw some DAO to my ETH wallet. Polo trades it, seems simple. I highlight the ETH address on the screen then choose edit/copy.  It says "clipboard copied" but does the notification twice. Then it gives me a weird BTC address which is either the original account I deposited to via shapeshift or they've been compromised.  lol. wtf. Not particularly impressed so far, but I am looking forward to finally playing with it and maybe even writing contracts.

BitShares definitely has a nicer UI from what I've seen so far.

try Lisk wallet , you'll find it more smooth .....  :P
regardging nicer and simple UI.

For non-Americans who don't know,  yesterday was Memorial day.  A day where we honored the armed forces who "fought for our freedom".

Well a lot of you didn't know today is "developer's Memorial Day" where we give thanks for those devs that fought for our freedom.

Anyway, all jokes aside I downloaded the ETH wallet. I was impressed by the integration of ShapeShift to get people up and going. However other than that, this thing is buggy as fuck. My first attempt was not successful as I got stuck on some block.  (Might have been a sleeping laptop or something did this...)  So I switch from 64bit to 32bit and 32bit won't even run saying it is missing some component.  So I google how to delete the chain data and start over with v64. So I would take that as being 3 attempts. IMO Bitshares .9 was likely better than this.

I just wanted to post something positive and acknowledge the good work that WAS done by the BitShares team. Good job guys.

You should try Lisk wallet  :P :P

I  am working on developing base on dpos ,  and I have run a new testing chain  ,there are several new excited feature are finished
1. dividend feature of asset ,
2. platform feature ,
3. forecast market ,
and the test chain is on http://139.162.63.211
Hi @BTSdac ,

BlockTrades has scoped out some features we'd like to see in a dividend feature for assets, so we'd be interested to see how you've implemented yours. Is your work available for public viewing (i.e. via github or a public repository)?
because the network issue  , I cannot update my code my github.com ,
but you can look at  my test chain , dividend feature and GUI are finished 2 months ago.
hi btsdac,

we took a look yesterday at the dividend portion of your code, but it's not quite suitable for our needs. We need a cheap way to allow dividends to be accumulated from various operations and then be potentially auto-distributed at various specified intervals, and there's some other requirements related to trying to create a model for dividends that lets us closely model traditional dividends if that's what the asset custodian wants, yet also be able to offer "better dividends" when it's desired. We've spec'd out the basics of how we want to do it (data model, etc) this weekend, and we'll start implementing this coming week.

By the way, I'm curious, so could you elaborate on what functionality is provided in your "platform feature" and "forecast market"?

His idea is that you can build forcast or prediction markets with many parameters . if i'm not mistaken , it sounds like Augur

BM can't easily and anonymously dump his premined Steem on OpenLedger without it becoming a big deal. Much better for him to get buyers going to Bittrex.

Ouch...

Assume for a moment that you were launching steem and trying to make it successful. Where would you direct people?

I Iove to help bts, but not at the expense of steem.  The truth is bts would create a higher barrier to entry for most people.

Is that my fault?  How can we lower the barrier to entry for bts?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

you didn't mention this when you said BTS was gonna be used by millions of people soon with big thing so don't worry with the merger and people left . Bag holders hang on to it , while you sell , just looking forward to the magical work that you do to attract ordinary people. And you stop working on also wasn't your choice , it's some of the bag holders decided to cut you off , otherwise you'll still dance with the same song over and over again .

Now you're telling me BTS creates a higher barrier to entry for most people.

What,  you didn't figure out this user experience thingy when you did the VOTE dream ?

who creates a worker but don't contributes code , is unpopular。
In China ,a lots of persons want to create workers to borrow bitcny or meetup , I all rejected.
If I was wrong ,pls tell me.
I worry more workers be created ,the bts's price will be more lower.
If your idea is good ,you could get donation from the community. The worker's wages need be used very cautious.

you're reading it wrong.
he propose to give away paper money to people on STEEM .

awesome! how are you funding the dividend feature? can you describe a little more how it would work?

he has a regular job and developed the feature with his free time .

From the mumble today according to Dan:

Bitshare's network won't die... but it's hard to find justification for the bitshares token to have a higher market cap, even if the network does continue to grow.

Congrats bitshares holders, please tell me how bullish this is!

I never knew we need justification to make BTS token a higher marketcap ...... I thought it only need post like "big thing .."  , "summer announcement" ..... "BTS will be the first blockchain that have sidechains (1.5 years ago)" ....

Some people here talk about delusion. This is not a real problem. The real problem is no real world use cases for bitshares. People invest in microsoft, because microsoft sells software to whole the world and makes gozillions $$. Apple sells a bunch of pretty shit which is dear for all faggots gays in the world. That is why their shares are valuable. And you still can lose money investing into them. What does bitshares sell? An exchange, which nobody wants to use. How do you expect your investment in BTS to appreciate in this case? Yes, I know, some idiots will reply: look I invested in ponzi pyramid shit ICO, which sells nothing but shitcoin, and doubled my investment in one week. Keep investing in ponzi pyramids, idiots, and you finally will lose more than you gained. Investing in ponzi pyramid is only profitable if there are enough more stupid idiots around you to invest after you.

By shit IPO you mean some IPO that has pumped the coin price seriously by vague promise of things and then dump it hard ?
 :o

don't back fired on yourself ....

General Discussion / Re: Claims of BM saying BitShares has failed

edit: jeez, would somebody please fix this forum software so that steemit links will work?
https://steemit.com/miscellaneous/@kenCode/the-top-5-ways-to-make-a-steady-blockchain-income

Why not demand that the new kid on the block (STEEM) play by existing rules of protocol and fix their URLs?

There are standard methods of encoding the "@" in the link, but none of them work in STEEM: @ @  @ because STEEM doesn't decode them. Also, as you point out SMF presumes the "@" is a reference to it's users, which is one problem, but steem makes a similar assumption (who knows, STEEM may have picked up the convention from SMF!)

So this does NOT work but probably should: https://steemit.com/miscellaneous/&commit;kenCode/the-top-5-ways-to-make-a-steady-blockchain-income

and this does work, but only for previewing your post; when you save it SMF translates the "@" into bbcode for member mention. SMF even converts the "@" in [ code ] sections, so I had to add a space so SMF wouldn't replace it, which messes up the URL
Code: [Select]
[url=https://steemit.com/miscellaneous/@ kenCode/the-top-5-ways-to-make-a-steady-blockchain-income]Ken's STEEM article[/url]
Ken's article on STEEM

yep . @ is not a good thing .
It broke links on IM tools too .

It seems more like the real reason behind everything is basically "Bytemaster can't or won't support his previous projects."  The dude couldn't even finish out the STEALTH proposal for reasons I don't get.

All the reasons Bytemaster gave for the merger were known BEFOREHAND. A lot of this is just rationalizing after decisions had been made.

It wasn't that no one could figure out how to market, it was that Bytemaster picked a guy that did next to nothing to market it effectively.  I just recently heard a story from someone who went to some Bitcoin conference years ago where BitShares had booth babes. Marketing was good at spending money and I'm sure booth babes are enjoyable to hang out with. Lets not just solely blame the fact that BTC went down in price. There was plenty of mismanaging going on. This affiliate system a lot of us were skeptical about ended up being next to worthless ...

oh i missed those booth babes  :P :P

.. and it seems STEEM is not something we should remotely consider to invest in given the history .
Fair enough, but it assumes BM didn't learn from past mistakes ..

Some mistakes are made from inability on some aspects , but some are not . Some are fundamentally incompatible for those who wish to participate in the crypto world , some are just playing dumb .

STEEM maybe a good software , I don't know , it may even be a good forum one day . But as an investor , investing in it takes a lot of guts , even more than blindly buying Dogecoin .

I just brought some Bitshares again even with the down trend since i know at least from the face value BM has no control over it   . But I would never consider buying STEEM even if it goes to the moon .

I could be making a huge mistake . Well , some money is just not mine to earn I guess .
