Wait a second!

Why doesn't everything work perfect the first time?

This is BS!

We should all be millionaires by now!

This is outrage!

Granted, I don't contribute anything to the code base or much else for that matter, but dammit, I want to be a millionaire...STAT!

This lack of continuous perfection from the dev team is really putting a damper on future plans to make it rain in Monaco.

Bitshares devs - Look, I realize this is new and experimental technology relying on difficult and complex knowledge I will never be able to do myself, but jeez already - You should have seen how good my Braveheart fan page was when I was learning basic HTML back in the 90's (it had a lot of picture of Sophie Marceau, so I know it was complex and awesome) How hard can cryptographic systems of consensus and decentralized exchanging of polymorphic digital assets be...shit - WHERE ARE MY MILLIONS????????????????

The consensus looks like Iceland.

This means absolutely nothing beyond talks between the Fed and IBM to further digitize the US dollar.

No mention of consensus mechanism.

No mention of inflation rate.

I'm pretty sure their concept of "decentralized consensus" would be something such as allowing each Federal Reserve District a delegate or node.     ::)

Even if brought to fruition, these kind of changes may slightly slow the eventual flight from the dollar domestically, but I doubt it will have much effect globally.

I'm sure there is a "reasonable" explanation - kind of reminds me of the Theranos Board of Directors:

*Edit: It looks like that DARPA contract FA8750-11-2-0211 funds quite a bit of cryptographic research

General Discussion / Re: Instead of adding BitShares to a Bitcoin wallet...
« on: February 28, 2015, 05:22:49 am »
Can you feel it???  We are tantalizingly close to biggest crypto home run since bitcoin itself.

As most on this thread are already very astute too...  Messaging and positioning is critical.  I would brand it a whole new thing(Coinstamp for example) and it would be a "decentralized bitcoin exchange."  The experience would actually be just like going to bitfinex.

You would deposit bitcoin.  Your account would say you have bitcoin, just like bitfinex says even though what you really have is bitfinexbitcoin. The difference is Coinstamp coin is really bitbtc and it is real time cryptographically provably solvent.  You can use your imagination for the rest.   If bitfinex/bitstamp/btc-e make no distinction between their IOU's and the real thing why should we?  The catch is stealing their liquidity.  When bitfinex started, they used bitstamp liquidity to get themselves up and running.   Apart from some simple GUI stuff, that is the final piece.   And of course and USD/bitUSD gateway.

This looks like what may bring Bitshares full circle for many that have been here since the beginning.

Along with the continued participation of bytemaster in the weekly hangouts, I would love to hear from many of the other core devs more often as well.

South Bay here.

Sent from my Cap'n Crunch whistle.

Good to connect.  We should set up a get-together when we have enough people responding to this thread...  do you go to local Bitcoin meetups in your area?   Isn't there a monthly one at the Plug & Play Tech Center?

I believe so. I haven't attended any Bitcoin-related meetups for quite a while so I am not familiar beyond the updates I see on meetup.com.

Ethereum, Ripple & Stellar have pretty healthy meetup groups out here, so it will be nice to get a Bitshares one started.

I'd like to propose that even ideas put forth by "names" where a possible Developer identity is either known, unknown or suspected - just having that "proxy" in place, weak or not, can still offer a beneficial degree of separation in that the Developer themselves are not using the weight of their real, open identity to state that opinion or idea.

These rules can still allow capture of a high percentage of potential benefit while incurring a small percentage of potential cost.

Works for NewMine.

;D

TL;DR (real world version)

If you are a Core Developer and wish to state an opinion about anything, use a pseudonym.

I see no problem with this, as long as opinions still get posted.
