General Discussion / Re: Best place to trade BTC for PTS?
« on: February 05, 2014, 04:20:31 am »
I prefer bter.com over cryptsy.  I've had deposits on the more obscure currencies take a day or two and a support ticket before showing up on cryptsy, which doesn't inspire much confidence.

Thanks for your reply!  I've been reading the forums and I'm starting to get it a little better.  Basically if I wanted to reserve a couple identities (my personal name and my company name) I'd just install the client, create the identities and let the miner run in the background, right?

First off, welcome!  Secondly, as GodsCreation was saying, Keyhotee is still in Alpha testing, and no blockchain is yet live in which to reserve your IDs.  This also accounts partially for the lack of instructions.  Last I heard is we'll have an initial Keyhotee blockchain starting up end of this month.  You're most welcome to either just check back closer to then, or join the rest of us here discussing, testing, and generally being terribly excited until that time.

IDs you create now will only be usable during alpha testing, so if you're not interested in helping with testing I wouldn't bother.  PTS isn't required for Keyhotee, so if you're just interested in Keyhotee you don't need to worry about it.  However, if you stay around here much you'll most likely get interested in PTS...

For a trading platform chain I think people will be comfortable with much longer block times than they are payment system focused chain.  Of course we're likely to see some clones with experimental new target times once it takes off anyway.

Any DAC stake held by the AngelShares PTS address will be claimed for use in bounties the same as directly donated BTC and PTS, correct?

These donations were received.  I'm not sure what's wrong with the AGS site, but the total from these donations given the rates from http://q39.qhor.net/ags/pts.txt is 95.49887213 AGS.

EDIT: Check the site again.  This thread: https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=2049.45 suggests there was an issue earlier today which has been corrected now.

You think that's money you're earning?

Also with the "Free your market." tagline we get to do Matrix "Free your mind." parodies:

*Neo opens eyes*
Neo: "I know Austrian Economics."
Morpheus: "Show me."

"Free your market."?  Then you could have lots of variants to keep things interesting.  "Free your market from distance."  "Free your market from middle-men."

Might want to pull this quick and re-upload without the 5%.  It's well done, and it would be great if it spread widely, but much better if it spread widely without inaccuracies.

So BitSharesX needs a new tag line, probably focused more on the ability to further reduce market friction than on giving people free money...  :P

"Bring the market together."?
"Own your portfolio."?
"Trade anything, anywhere."?

I think this counts as 3 more...?

Thanks again!

Hi all,
Don't have the time to work out how to use github right now, but just spotted the link on http://invictus.io/bitshares-pts.php to the beeeer mining pool isn't correct - it's points to http://pts.beeeeer.org/, but should be http://ptsweb.beeeeer.org.

Someone who knows how to do it, feel free to submit a fix, and share the bounty with me (PoPcJAzDM5WMnTfBLuMpXSpbW8hjPV1c7d)!  :D

Done.  Please credit phabit for this one.

There are plans for mobile apps, and also a bounty out for a browser based local wallet.  This should enable basically any internet enabled device to access BitShares.

Assets must be included from genesis in a chain.  Anyone can create additional chains with new assets, but that's only useful if the assets you choose appeal enough that others accept your chain to use it with you.

Hope that helps some...
