General Discussion / Re: Paging the great satan Larimer
« on: July 19, 2016, 07:04:56 pm »
Exactly what kind of glowing response do you expect by calling someone 'satan Larimer'?!

If you want to be taken seriously then state the party you wish to address, and get a response from, with their proper name, and with respect.

Delete the post imo . I didn't come here to read crap like that.
... And why you're at it how about a congratulations on steem?

I'm working on writing a series of articles aimed at less technical people, explaining bitshares.

The first article was well received, https://steemit.com/money/@karnal/bringing-bitshares-to-a-wider-audience

Stay tuned, at least two should be out this week! I planned to write a bit over the weekend, but it was great weather, went out camping.

I think this is a good point. It seems like a crime not to really use Steem as a platform for pushing BitShares.
We should have s concerted effort to promote BitShares on there.

Voted. Great post.
Get the word out about blockpay, peerplays, peertracks and echo

General Discussion / Re: What bitshares should learn from steem
« on: July 17, 2016, 02:49:03 am »
There is actually something bitshares could learn from steem. Steem doesn't give away STEEM tokens to content creators for posting their BS. Instead, they use STEEM as collateral to issue steem dollars, which they give away. This is actually smart approach, because such a giveaway does not cause a dilution. Bitshares could do the same, even better. Instead of paying workers BTS, committee could use the reserve as collateral to issue smart coins and pay a worker with smart coin of his/her choice. This would fill the market with different bitAssets. The only dilution would come from forced settlements. Right now the reserve is enough to issue over 2M bitUSD, and as the reserve gets filled with collected fees, more could be issued.
This could be a great idea, but it probably requires a good gateway to fiat for the bit assets being paid out. So it would probably work now for workers willing to be paid in bitCNY, but not in bitUSD.

They could be paid in any bitAssets of their choice. When they want to cash out, they would convert their bitAssets to OPEN.USD  or OPEN.BTC, or do it whatever way they prefer. Even if they dump their bitAssets for BTS, it would not dilute BTS.
That's true, active markets for the bitAssets could make it work.

I think this is a great suggestion.  +5%

General Discussion / Re: Buying BTS
« on: July 15, 2016, 08:49:13 pm »

I have clearly have no purchased BTS in a while because when i went to blocktrades to convert some BTC to BTS i discovered its not listed anymore. Meta exchange are closing their doors. Openledger in the wallet dont have BTS listed.

Where are other people doing to buy BTS?

Thanks
Michael
We had to temporarily disable a number of wallets due to loading problems. We've redistributed the load and re-enabled the Bitshares wallet, so you can once again buy BTS via https://blocktrades.us.

Perfect! Thank you Dan.
just an FYI - i dont see it just yet - i see Steem Litecoin and Ethereum only. I'll check later.

General Discussion / Re: Is Bitshares still growing?
« on: July 13, 2016, 04:49:34 pm »

Of course its growing. Coinmarket cap shows us that it was up 21% yesterday.

Listen to the BeyondBitshares hangouts each week and you'll hear about PeerPlays, Peertracks, and BlockPay that just went live. You can read their threads here as well. Organic growth is happening.

As much as there are some doom and gloomers around .... the future is bright and Dan has not abandoned BitShres. So, these guys need to peddle their nonsense elsewhere.

I love this. Very well put together and presented. A lot of people put their feedback in to this.
I support this.  +5%

Bitshares had its prime time too. As I can recall, it passed ripple and became the no.2 highest market cap. To take a long story short, what happened then caused bitshares fell to the market cap of today. I couldn't tell if the same thing will happen to steem, but I strongly feel that we should keep going on the current route, and make bitshares more appealing in more practical use cases, and never look back.

Well stated. I don't think we are going to see real success from market manipulations. Utility and adoption are what have kept Bitcoin in the lead even with all its problems. Tipping point is coming. I honestly don't know if it will ever really make a difference in the way our market cap goes, but at the end of the day there is just one number that really matters... users.

Hallo, again could you give us some feedback?

Does this new settlement fee improve liquidity and interest in CNY?

@bitcrab

before this change the supply of bitCNY is less than 800K, now it is 1100K and keep on increasing...

going ahead,  bitCNY will be used as trade base in many markets.

General Discussion / Re: Steemit's Plan

FWIW- Dan first proposed most of the things he is doing in Steem here to the Bitshares community. You guys cut off his funding for said proposals- stating they were either unnecessary or declaring that inflation for development/improvements = bad. It is kind of the Bitshares' community's fault he has moved on from Bitshares to Steem. An employee must get paid for his work, or else he will look elsewhere for an employer that will pay him for working. Failure to see that to make a few dollars you have to spend a few dollars is entirely on the Bitshares' community. Short term greed stymied Bitshares and will be its eventual downfall.

No one cut off his funding.  Dan never even created a worker proposal.  Total bullshit saying that BTS won't pay for any development as there are 2 workers being paid already.

this. don't twist the facts please @CoinHoarder

Not this.  Don't abuse your power as a moderator @fav.  This is not a random discussion.

steem is an alternative currency and has nothing to do with bitshares. moved as usual

So a discussion of how Steem and BitShares complement/compete with each other in the coming months is not relevant?  Most of the posts in this thread seem to me to be more about Bitshares.

A discussion of how Steem and BitShares complement/compete with each other in the coming months is exactly whats needed. Its not a blame thing, hopefully steemit pulls bitshares up and we can employ things that are working over there. I'm not techie enough to understand how steem can benefit bts, thats why i think a discussion would be helpful.

@Stan:

Thanks and all of that makes sense to me. My question is HOW any of these directly benefits BTS. Unless i misunderstood BMs post, i think he was saying that Steemit would create their own smartcoins and UIAs  and not the Bitshares ones.

BM and I have split up the workload, each doing what we do best.
He makes babies and, like any good grandfather, I help raise them.  :)

All of my attention plus an all-star team of Forum Heroes and Fresh Talent are focused on maximizing the BitShares ecosystem.  Patience.

The purpose of this thread was not to sound off against BM, its just to discuss his Steemit post. I love BTS and i'm sticking with it. However, i would really like to hear if/how BitShares and Steemit paths cross. Perhaps at this early stage the team dont want to discuss the roadmap, but it sure would be nice to know if bitshares will be a sidechain to Steemit and what that means/how it would work.

I think Dan deserves a lot of credit for steem, its a wonderful platform and gaining traction. Bitshares is equally brilliant, but we havn't got any traction ... yet. How bitshares can benefit from steems success is what im interested in.

just my 2 cents

I wouldn't say Total BS.  It was clear that, no matter how many proposals we wasted time on in the prevailing anti-dilution environment, there would not be enough near-term funding to sustain The Team from only the BTS oil well.  Hence the imperative to drill more.  The problem with being forced to start drilling is that, once you strike oil somewhere, you tend to get a little distracted.

:)

Note that Cryptonomex is still drilling several more wells, for the exact same reason.
Every one of those would directly benefit BTS if we hit a gusher.

General Discussion / Steemit's Plan
« on: July 07, 2016, 02:39:31 am »

Hi,

Dan just posted an interesting read regarding Steemit and its battleplan for world domination. ;) (https://steemit.com/steem/@dan/steemit-s-evil-plan-for-cryptocurrency-world-domination).

Phase 3 talks about sidechains and smartcoins. Unless i am misreading the intent, i think hes referring to steem creating its own smartcoins and UIAs. Would you need to go to Bitshares to trade these assets. My question is, shouldnt we be trying to drive these new users Bitshares?

I would really like to hear Dan talk about this on Fridays mumble because i think a lot of Bitshares holders would appreciate how to learn more about how Steemit and Bitshares path cross.

Thanks
