General Discussion / Re: Staff Meeting Notes - Monday, April 6, 2015

When people work with their brand, it's important to change the environment once in a while.

This is how breakthrough happen.

Maybe I can assist with the rebirth of this project. I will follow it and contribute when I can.

Thanks luckybit! What are your skills?

THANK YOU!
The Mining Pool will have a second life!

We are currently in the transition of ownership of the pool operation from nethyb to datasecuritynode.

Here is our Roadmap!
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1RmKlLjuLehLUC88w5Y82B9CB_nh3dkkOEvjsYfejckc/edit?usp=sharing

If you have mining experience, your input is greatly appreciated.

Official BitSharesMining Document Coming VERY Soon!

will the bonus to miner stop at some point ?

The subsidies are there to compensate until the pool gets big enough to turn a profit and maintain a #1 position as the most profitable pool on our way there. It's the only pool powered by dpos so we can do things most people can't.

Really when it comes down to it, the goal is to increase the market cap and liquidity by having more people moving money in our system.

Once bitsharesmining gets to a point where the added benefits are marginal compared the the marketcap than the operation should stop being subsidized.

Later, when BitShares grow enough of  it's marketcap and doesn't value the added liquidity provided by the pool then it will be a good time to realocate those funds to a better purpose.

the ability to mine bitGOLD could be really be the success... secret sauce!

You won't believe what we got cooking in the background. Stay tuned (and vote for minebitshares-reloaded)

General Discussion / BitShares Social Network?
« on: April 06, 2015, 11:09:01 pm »
GetGems.org released their encrypted messaging/ bitcoin wallet app on Google Play.
I have got to say that they have done a good job at creating a minimum viable product and get a simple
product that has a lot of potential.

Their funding mechanism is interesting. Have the advertiser pay the users directly for unsolicited content. The users can decide who would advertise to them and make some money.(GEMS)

While I was testing it I couldn't hold myself from thinking that it should run on BitShares instead of counterparty.
Faster transaction, transfer any currency, polls, etc.
The ability to send encrypted message and bitusd would definitly be an app many parties would be interested in.

Mix it up with BitShares Play and you've got something really interesting.

Jump in and brainstorm!
Who would be interested in taking on this kind of project?

This is a pretty big deal, and we should promote this to the crypto community.  "Mine real gold with your bitcoin mining hardware".

Steps:
1) Sign up with minebitshares pool.
2) Convert bitUSD you receive to bitGold.
3) Buy physical gold with your bitgold on cryptosmith.

Is there any chance that we can have users pick what payout they receive from minebitshares, so they could receive bitGold directly (cutting out step 2?).  This would make things easier.

Definitly one of the feature we want.

General Discussion / Re: Operation Improving Liquidity

I get it now. How much funds do you have to put behind this bot? Would it be a "communal bot" where people who have a stake in it get a corresponding share of the profits?

371
Would having a western counterpart of BitSharesMining who pays in BitCNY help?

Do you think you would be able to have a profitable bot?

What would we need for our bots to be profitable?

Bots could easily become profitable as soon as people start filling asks and bids. Having a market maker bot would basically enable you to set your spreads i.e. Buy at feed -x, Sell at feed +x. In the example of BitUSD:BitBTC these spreads would move in relation to the current Bitcoin exchange rate. This would be trivial to implement and in already liquid markets the risk would be relatively low in comparison to BTS markets (as price manipulation would be minimised across external exchanges)

If a given market becomes more and more liquid, do the bots keep their profitablity?
(I'm sorry I am pretty new to trading bots)

Peercoin passed us up and barely ahead of NeosCoin and Virtacoin.

374
Building the future infrastructure of the next generation of our financial system is not something that happens in 12 months.
Anyone who is freaking out about the price is having the wrong set of expectation in my opinion.

I admit that mining real gold and silver sounds pretty interesting. It would definitely give us some free marketing by appearing on a few headlines and articles.  +5%

That will be all over cryptonews website once we release this news. :-)
