addnode 162.243.197.231 add

is not the most efficient way to go about it

you would use

addnode 162.243.197.231 onetry

if it doesn't work, then it isnt likely to work any time soon

Thank you all guys :)

i think i fixed using

sudo apt-get install libboost1.48-all-dev

probably donschoe suggestion should work better cause suggesting latest version of libboost actually

I am deciding to quit and join ypool.   seems more effective..
i am sure it will benefit greatly from your 128GB RAM 8-way AMD CPU

BitShares PTS / Re: best set up for mining?
« on: January 10, 2014, 01:01:55 am »
what is the best set up for mining. If person was to build a rig what components would best be suited for protoshares?

best set up/best suited as in making a lot, but wasting a ton of money, or best set up/best suited as in most efficient  for cost?

110
Hi all,  can anyone tell me the reason why someone can get share high share payout ?  How can they do that... be honest, I used a super computer already with 128G Ram 8-way AMD CPU for mining.... but everything its got less than 0.0xxx , why ?

because 50 e3-1270's is better than one 'super computer shitloads of extra useless RAM "8-way" AMD CPU'?

Hello everyone,

First time post trying to get the miner up and running. I'm running into a problem on the last command to connect my wallet to the pool. Here is what I'm encountering:

root@Protoshares:~/ptsminer/src# cd ~/ptsminer/src && ./ptsminer <Pp3YQebfAe8BbxJJ8LMer2NGbAY1Q2TFzy> <2>
bash: syntax error near unexpected token `<'
root@Protoshares:~/ptsminer/src# cd ~/ptsminer/src && ./ptsminer Pp3YQebfAe8BbxJJ8LMer2NGbAY1Q2TFzy 2
bash: ./ptsminer: No such file or directory
root@Protoshares:~/ptsminer/src# ./ptsminer <Pp3YQebfAe8BbxJJ8LMer2NGbAY1Q2TFzy> <2>
bash: syntax error near unexpected token `<'
root@Protoshares:~/ptsminer/src# ./ptsminer Pp3YQebfAe8BbxJJ8LMer2NGbAY1Q2TFzy 2
bash: ./ptsminer: No such file or directory
root@Protoshares:~/ptsminer/src#

Ubuntu: 12.04
Host: Mac 10.7.2 2 x 3 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon

Has anyone else run into this? First attempt at mining so please feel free to point out the stupid obvious mistake! I've followed both the updated mining guide from the protoshares website and the original script on this thread with the same results. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Parker

1) you shouldn't be using root

2) you dont need to change to a directory you're already in

3) you wouldn't use < > for this, it'd be ' '  , but it isnt necessary here anyway

4) ptsminer doesn't exist in /ptsminer/src, either because you never compiled it or because it has a different filename.  i have no clue.  use ls -latr

BitShares PTS / Re: Some Questions about PTS mining on ypool with yam.
« on: January 09, 2014, 06:14:10 pm »
So is there anything I can do to improve my CPM?
For about $60 a month you could get a faster server. For example:
https://www.hetzner.de/en/hosting/produkte_rootserver/ex40
from which I get about 340CPM.
they also have a $60 setup fee

you'd be better off going through their robot or using seflow.it

outside of bulk quantity, 10+ server deals, i think the best thing right now is the stuff online.net is tossing to oneprovider,  like the e3-1230 for 29 euro

connect=5.9.24.81

by far the most reliable

ok, it works fine with a ubuntu on c3.2xlarge instance running yam-yvg1900-M7i-linux64-generic

I just had to use the m=1024 parameter (m=2048 caused miner to be killed, because of lack of memory)

seems to stabilize on 165 CPM

concerning the earnings, I still have some doubts : the miner seems to submit around 17share value/h, which makes less than 0.004 pts/h (0.08$/h) to be compared with the hourly price of the c3.2xlarge instance...

am I calculating something wrong ?

no, it just isn't profitable.  but that doesnt stop people from wasting money

Hellooo evryone;

I can not find Protoshares cloud mining profitable, i finally could set it up and am not amused with the results. Is anyone experiencing any different?  :o

Regards
 :D

it's not, unless you think the value of PTS will increase.. but then you'd be better off just buying PTS, instead of continuing to operate this while unprofitable

it's good to use with the free credits, that's it

http://www.seflow.net/ecloud/freetrial.php

I haven't tried it yet since it's late & I don't want to set things up (it looks like it gets you right into it)... it's only 8 euro worth, but  from what it says, it works like Azure instead of Amazon, so you won't get charged.  I'm not even sure if you have to put in any CC info.

Oh, and they have some great deals on dedicated servers, better than Hetzner (I didn't realize the cloud thing until later)

@drmyfore Can you tell me how you set up your system? I have the same hardware(2x 2680v2), but I only get half of your cpm.
I bound 2 processes to each socket/node using numactl, but that didnt help. I'm using the yam-ivy-bridge miner.

You could try just setting affinity in something like htop?

Never done that myself, I'm assuming it works

119
@Surfer43:
you know that you're  paid proportional per block?

some should carry over, to discourage pool hopping

i usually get more on longer blocks

https://www.wholesaleinternet.net/dedicated/  has them cheaper, plus I have 20% discount as reseller, but they're all out of stock atm

but even better stuff, like the i7-3770s's for 30 euro at kimsufi before they sold out

btw:  you can get one of these free for a month if you put in credit card info:  http://www.burst.net/spc1.php    ..   I cancelled about 10 days after I started it & just set it to cancel at end of billing period.  no problem
