BitShares PTS / PTS/Bitshares/AGS and the absurdity of it all.
« on: March 02, 2014, 09:45:48 am »
(ed: I decided to make this a new topic, instead of replying, so this is referring to my deposit of PTS to 'BeedUI', which froze my PTS well before the midnight GMT cutoff)

Personally, I've had enough of this BS.  I emailed their support saying that I didn't give a crap about Bitshares, and that I wanted to withdraw my PTS.  I'll see what happens.  If I don't get a response, I'll pay some Chinese translation site to translate it for me and resend it.

I wanted to sell my PTS before midnight GMT, because I knew the price would drop a lot immediately after.  No way in hell the Bitshares one received would be worth the loss from that.  Sadly, I transferred my PTS to an exchange that had no clue as to what was going on.

That being said, I don't place 100% of the fault on the exchange, a lot lies with a lack of a clear, concise explanation of when this was actually taking place (at midnight GMT) & how long it would actually take for these Bitshares to become accessible (am I suppose to wait two weeks to be able to withdraw my PTS?  lol).  The whole 'AGS' rubbish essentially just further devalued the PTS that I was, well, paying to acquire (via energy costs, server rentals, etc).

It's also bizarre how a pool that I know is taking in a ton of money (ypool) can't seem to afford to pay a couple hundred a month for decent DDoS protection.  While *constant* downtime assuredly nets less money, the large amounts of disconnects & reconnects just increases revenues for what has to be ... the greediest lot of people I've seen in the whole cryptocurrency community (as far as fees for pools and miners goes).  On one pool, I've 'found' 11 blocks, but been awarded approx. 33% of what that would have made solo.  I'm not usually one to have these conspiracy theories & it could very well just be that I've been very lucky, but in this case, well, I have my doubts.

I will leave my PTS/Bitshares node up at 5.9.24.81 for one more month, as I was actually compensated ~$40 for it in early January.  The # of connections has dropped from an avg of 500-600 to ~200-250 these last several days, but it still consumes a decent amount of system resources, & bandwidth.  Almost 3TB of upstream for this month (tons of new users downloading the entire blockchain in the last couple weeks), obv. this will be less going forward (if I had to guess, maybe 1TB for March).  I think three months (plus the several months prior to that) is fair enough.  Supposedly the DNS system is a lot more robust at picking up good nodes now, anyway.

My BBB process w/ Google is done.  Not sure how long it'll take for them to censor out all the bits of my complaint & post it... it dropped google's rating from a B- to a C-, though

i need to talk to a  lawyer, but i think probably what I'll end up doing is just filing a $2,000 small claims case in Austin, Tx (they have a branch there so i wouldnt have to drive to california)

i'm going to skip the DA mediation, doesn't seem useful to me, given all the records I have from my bbb complaint.  the fact that they're sending me advertisements for their cloud services is the reason why i'm going to consult with an attorney.  i don't recall signing up for that.. it may have been one of the conditions of receiving their $2,000 trial offer,  which I never received

it's essentially bait & switch advertising

ed: oh, i've changed my mind & will probably go through with the sunnyvale DA.. except I'm changing my desired resolution to receiving the cash equivalent of the trial offer, $2,000

BitShares PTS / Frozen PTS on beedui
« on: March 01, 2014, 02:32:39 pm »
I have ~80 PTS or so frozen on BeedUI for "wallet maintenance", I know this is explained in various other threads but it's still confusing me.

I actually sent the PTS there about 10 hours prior to midnight GMT & they closed off withdrawals about 30 minutes after I sent the PTS...  My intention was to sell all of my PTS (as quickly as possible & there had been a buy on beedui at about 15% over cryptsy valuation), but I got royally screwed there.

So now I suppose I have some Bitshares or somesuch?  Is a second client needed?  *boggle*

BitShares PTS / Re: Confirmation time, is this normal?
« on: March 01, 2014, 02:28:51 pm »
I know for Bitcoin at least Cryptsy automatically includes a fee in excess of the minimum (0.0002 instead of 0.0001), it's probably the same for PTS.

From what I've been reading here, there are at least a few exchanges that send out PTS with 0 fee... probably because 99% of the time that's fine, since blocks come relatively quickly and it takes a while to reach that max block size for free transactions (10k for non-priority, 27k for priority?  i keep getting stuff mixed up, so could be wrong).  It's just on the 27th and 28th stuff got bogged down

BitShares PTS / Re: PTS Withdrawl from BTER not arriving in wallet!
« on: February 28, 2014, 06:24:42 pm »

so when you do listtransactions does it show up in your list?

if not, do you have all the latest blocks?
No, the transaction does not show up in my transaction list in my wallet, and my wallet is "up to date". Still no balance in BTER and no response from them either.
If it doesn't even show up in wallet at all then that means they haven't broadcast it (or broadcast some malformed transaction).

PTS allows fees of 0 for high priority transactions and also when block size is <10KB, I think.  (priority is <*27KB?).

it should at least show up

If blocks are slow and there are lots of transactions occuring (like there would be today and yesterday), then transactions w/ 0 fees will have a hard time getting into blocks.

I always add excessive fees to my transactions, for DOGE it was 1 per 1kb, for PTS it's 0.001.  the default min_tx for pts is 0.0001, so if you use 0.00011 then it's np.

BitShares PTS / Re: Unconfirmed PTS don't count for the 2/28/14 Snapshot?
« on: February 28, 2014, 05:29:59 pm »
I had my Protoshares at bter.com exchange,  So,  for the snapshot I transfer to my local wallet,  but in my wallet the transaction is unconfirmed.

So, please some could tell me if I am screwed and this protoshares will not count in my wallet for the snapshot?

Has been passed almost 4 Hours and have 0 confirmations.

This is my Wallet,
PabHpkdhqyQmfLDwK9pEy3w83FsKwB3tXL
and the TxID
690e1c29b85d9f103de3634b812bf4cec55f611dd3a2151caf40f60d1f73c567

By the way,  what time is the snapshot?  GMT ?

Is your wallet currently Online?  How many active connections do you have (lower right)?  If it's your first time using the wallet, you may need to add a couple of nodes.

Yes, my wallet is currently online, i have 8 active connections.

Could you tell me which nodes do you recommend  to add?

There are more people in the exact same situation like me.

Do you think is it possible,  bter exchange is "doing something" to make this transactions "inconsistent" or "faulty" (I don't know how to call it)  with the purpose of holding the protoshares after the Snapshot, and keeping the corresponding  bitshares for them,  and then after that release the protoshares??
I don't know if that is possible but who knows....  ::)   :(   >:(

I am just a newbie trying to figure it out, and trying to get in the train.  :D

Please,  some one could help us,  maybe contacting bter support?

if it shows up in your transaction list then it was successfully broadcast, but nobody is including it in a block

i thought protoshares had fairly lenient 0 fee rules , but maybe not?    you can check the client and see about priority size.  i always modify mine to not accept free tx, and too lazy to reDL and modify

ed: i just installed new version, it does have free transactions for under 17k.  maybe no new blocks in a while?  no clue.   if they are going slow enough, it might not get in a *block for a while if fee is at 0

if it shows up in listtransactions then that means it was broadcast at least

however it is probably more accurate to believe that there is a "run" on PTS at these exchanges and they simply do not have the coin in reserve, which if true is really a problem...at least for today.

I think that too.
Probably because almost every one is trying to get PTS to their wallets, bter is starving for PTS.

But how they can do transactions to our wallets (and have the TxID) with out having the PTS?,  If I try to do a transaction from a wallet with 0 funds, the wallet program don't even allow try it.
They do not need transactions, they will just claim BTS for all PTS on exchange (in their own wallet) and distribute it among PTS balance holders as coins on balance, not as real coins. Apparently you will then be able to withdraw BTS to your local wallet or leave it on the exchange.

That would be fine if the PTS was in my account on BTER, but I withdrew and received confirmation through a TxID from BTER, however there is no sign of it in my PTS wallet. So, no PTS balance in BTER and no PTS in my local wallet. Now, I can not even see my PTS withdraw history on BTER as they have suspended PTS trading. BTER has not responded to my emails yet.
so when you do listtransactions does it show up in your list?

if not, do you have all the latest blocks?

BitShares PTS / Re: yam (yvg1900) miner performance comparison
« on: February 28, 2014, 06:12:50 am »
my rates all went up about 5-10% on those earlier ones when i swapped primary pools from ypool to ptspool or whatever it is.    i think some portion of this is because the fine tuning works much better on a stable pool

I get 904 on a 2x Opteron 6274 (32x1gb)

also, the e3-1240v3 runs more like it should now, but still a bit lower than the i7-4770.  it's at 690 now, with the i7-4770 around 720

ed: i'll just edit that post with the new #'s, I guess

I meant the pool fallback and I'm targeting more stable code because I do not have enough time to support people all the day. I have only a xpt6 version, which ypool does use. But all other pools use xpt5. I hacked something together but I'm not sure whether this is stable because 1GH has major problems with this version. Only ptspool.com seems to be ok but shows sometimes strange behaviour, too.

this argument would hold more water if the people you were 'supporting' werent paying you  much more than you'd make as a salaryman or an hourly wage doing the same type of work.  how about a 'i'm busy' instead?  surely you dont expect people to increase the 'donation' rate

for all the ppl complaining, just switch miners.  i have on all but one gpu (cause i'm like .15 short of a payout, hah)

i've still not been full on 5.9.24.81, the highest i've seen is some ~650 connections (well, close to 700 I think, with a 980 max)

ASUS R9-290XOCII 4GB is averaging 3250c/m using clpts in Windows.  Reports are that it's pushing 4500c/m in Linux
what about with the new windows drivers?

my 3gb 7970 can get up to 3700c/m in windows, though i usually run it at more sane settings and get 3500'ish.  290x should be a step above that and 280x similar

Does anybody know the CPM from the Sapphire 270x TOXIC with 2 GB?
or is the 270X 4GB better because you can run2 Threads?

THANKS

i get 1600-1700 from an msi 270 2gb (not 270x)

i imagine the 4gb version is better, i dunno though.

my 260 with 2gb of mem can get 1300
