Marketplace / Re: Want to change my lost passcode wallet with 4.5 BTC
« on: November 25, 2013, 11:17:22 am »
If i were computer guy, i would recover passcode bruteforce, but i cant, i dont know how to do that,

Then I would try to learn how to do it and then maybe rent some GPU power. You are the only person on earth that knows for sure that inside these wallet there is a secret key to access to 4.5BTC.

Good luck  ;)

General Discussion / Re: Should Mining scale per Human or per Dollar?
« on: November 25, 2013, 10:32:36 am »
A DAC that gives some kind of work to humans sounds good. In fact, every DAC now has at least a human behind, caring for some machines and software working for the network.

What I think that would be really good is to expand the types of work that humans do to the network now. Something too hard or impossible for a machine, but doable (not just easy things) for a human. Some ideas:

  • Recaptcha-like DAC: would provide almost perfect OCR by demand.
  • Translation DAC: if you need an almost perfect translation reviewed by several native speakers, you want to use/join this DAC.
  • Simple-for-a-human-jobs DAC

If I were in the place of Silfax, I think that I would auction the exchange software somewhere on this this forum to pay some of the IOU.

BitShares PTS / Re: how will I receive shares in DACs
« on: November 25, 2013, 09:27:17 am »
I currently have my ProtoShares stored on the Cryptsy exchange. Is this okay?

NO! Ask for help if needed to install your wallet on your computer. Do not keep money on the exchanges.

81
DO NOT KEEP YOUR MONEY ON AN EXCHANGE

You could lost your money in so many ways...

82
Do you think emailing abuse@nforce.com could help?

I dont think so, but you dont lose anything by trying. Maybe a mail to abuse@nforce.com and abuse@privateinternetaccess.com with CC to info@us-cert.gov and info@ncsc.nl

I guess that if you start a legal process, a judge could require the VPN logs stored by privateinternetaccess.com (if any)

Access logs on the digitalocean account show that someone logged in from a Norway IP (that's not a TOR node), and a similar IP on the same subnet logged into the VM itself.

The IPs that logged into the server were: 109.201.154.210, and .205, maybe a VPN, maybe someone's actual IP? I looked at the computer there, and apparently there is a Bitcoin node. If anyone feels like playing detective/hacker, please be my guest.

These IPs are seems that are from some USA Netherlands VPN, not Norway. Edit: Strange, geoiplookup db says Norway but after doing a mtr I think that the machine is on Netherlands.

Thanks,

How could the mining rewards and keyhotee ID to be non-transferrable?

What can stop me to trade my secret key?

86
xolokram, would you mind to pay the abandoned addresses? I had an address for each machine, like:
http://ptsweb.beeeeer.org/user/PibtpUeHCXStrAkcD7buVmeyj9UPcEvwxE

But since about 9 days ago I'm mining using the same address for all the miners.

Thank you!

General Discussion / Re: Bit-U PTS / BTC Exchange
« on: November 23, 2013, 06:02:40 pm »
Pasting here some relevant lines from the bit-u chat:

Quote
(16:43) Silfax: Update: so the digitalocean server was mysteriously deleted, we're attempting to figure out who it could have been, when, why, and if we can restore somehow.
(16:59) Silfax: We're working on it. I don't personally know what happened yet, but we're doing to do our best.
(16:59) What: DO YOU HAVE A BACKUP?
(17:00) Silfax: If I had wanted to steal the balances I would have left when we had 100 btc in there
(17:00) What: Simple yes or no.
(17:00) Silfax: yes, there is a snapshot of the server

(17:08) Sam: its all gone. Now line up and collect stamps
(17:08) atp1916: no it aint. Silfax has a backup of the server.
(17:08) js: yeah but if someone has axs to the server, they likely stole the wallet.dat
