General Discussion / Re: Dividend feature timeline?
« on: March 08, 2015, 01:22:51 am »
Paying dividend is a challenge in Bitshares UIA because you don't know who is holding the shares.

If there is a new command to list all the accounts that hold specific UIA with owner authentication then dividend is possible.
The owner will create another UIA like bitDividend and make a share dropping or pay bitUSD directly.

DAC PLAY / Any news update?

Working with Metaexchange over the last couple weeks, specifically Monsterer with whom I had the most interaction, was a first rate experience. We were able to setup the liquidity pool quickly and in a manor that didn't compromise security.

The high level steps were:

1) Get a VPS with enough resources to run MySQL, Apache, BTS full node, BTC full node.
2) Lock the server down (remove password authentication and only accept public key auth, close all ports, reject root login attempts, fail2ban, etc.)
3) Have the wallets and Metaexchange daemon on two separate accounts. This allows Metaexchange to login and setup their daemon without having access to either sudo, the wallets, or any system configuration.

So the wallets sit on a locked down server with limited communication to the outside world. The daemon resides on the same sever on a different account and communicates with the mother ship. Cryptohedge has developed a "bot" that updates the exchange rate of BTC/USD every 10 seconds.

Once we've completed this proof of concept, and received funds back from Bter, I look forward to growing the liquidity pools as well as pairs offered.

Thanks for the info.
Do you have any plans to make a step by step instructions? so more users will join in.

Yeah, this is good news actually.

What are the requirements to run metaexchange node?

Might I suggest the underscores on the trading pairs are replace by "/", that's how all the other exchanges do it.

Thanks for the suggestion - I'll consider it :)
Yeah, because I thought it's a new UIA, bitBTC_BTC
Also, why not just all start with BTC so it not confusing.

No BTS yet, I'm getting nervous here

This will be easy to market if we make the default main page the Exchange Asset
It means, you can view the inside without even logging in.
Change the name to Exchange instead of Wallet.
Integrate bitcoin and altcoins gateway
Then let's promote to crypto world as a web decentralize exchange, instead of just web wallet.

Just my +5%

I am willing to do whatever it takes to get integrated into any wallet. Just shoot me a PM and I'll be all over it :)

p.s Remember, we are an in house project, unlike
+5% metaexchange in bitshares wallet

Just a note, The wallet should be called Lite not Light. Different meanings.

General Discussion / Re: What about gateways for altcoins
« on: February 26, 2015, 06:03:20 am »
IMO we need gateways that connect our decentralized exchange and altcoins. So, the gateways receive altcoins (e.g. DRK) and issue the same amount of IOU (say, GATEDRK). Just my 2 cents...
