Marketplace / Re: Give free bts to all bitcointalk users
« on: November 06, 2014, 03:28:12 am »
It's not a good idea. They have already known about BTSX because of its rank on coinmarketcap .

Yes, they know about it but they never tried it, once they understand the advantage of the bts wallet they may hook to it.

Marketplace / Give free bts to all bitcointalk users
« on: November 06, 2014, 02:41:46 am »
The best place to find potential users of bitshares is in bitcointalk, because they know how crypto system works.

Why not give all users of bitcointalk a generous amount of free bts.

1. Make a snapshot of all bitcointalk users and their ranks.
2. The amount of bts to receive is different from their rank.
3. Then they can redeem their free bts by going to site like http://bitcointalk_users_get_your_free_bts.com/<username>
4. Requirement is they need to use account name to redeem, this way we know they have the bts wallet.
5. to check if they are the actual user they need to add a required signature in bitcointalk forum like "Get your free bts here" and the link is their referral url (http://bitcointalk_users_get_your_free_bts.com/<username>)
6. If someone clicked their signature then they get a 100% of this user claimed bts, so they will keep their signature.

What ya think?

I think the end compromise that will be made is that delegates can outsource their block signing to someone else. The block signer cannot control or change the reward and it is sent directly to the real delegate, but he can get paid a fixed rate for his services automatically.

It's quite difficult for a German to read english text while listening to the german words :-P

At this point there is no reason to continue this discussion. If you can't understand the competitive advantages that decentralized fundraising gives us, then I think you would be better off just selling, because it is not changing back in the short or medium term. It's unfair and almost tyrannical, yes, but it is for the best, and if you've trusted bytemaster before then you should also trust him this last time.

On the bright side, this will most definitely be the very last time a centralized choice about the future of the DAC is ever made. From now on, there will be no authority but stakeholders. Should a majority decide to remove dilution in the future when the market cap is huge, it will happen as soon as they say the word (however by then the massive advantages of dilution will be obvious to everyone).

Also it's a mistake to think that a DAC needs to be deflationary before it can be profitable. Buy low, then sell high due to mass adoption is infinitely more profitable than tiny, utterly insignificant transaction fees burned by the system in a tiny userbase of true believers that have misunderstood austrian economics. Adoption and thus profit comes from innovation and marketing, not circlejerking about deflation.

Guys, I believe I figure out the issue.

I had Armory wallet installed to protect my bitcoins ... it appears Armory wallet has installed some virus on my computer.   Here are viruses I have found all in my Armory wallet data folders.

Murphy, oropax, syslock, diskspoiler, prtscr 1024, attention.

Armory wallet F'd me up my brothers.   Damn, bastards!!

So figured the issue could have been a virus ... maybe.   But my funds are long gone.

Do you have antivirus? or your antivirus did not catch it?

I like bytemaster's approach.

The BitShares rocket's ignition is on, but it has not taken off yet. It's a good idea to make changes now to give it enough fuel and the necessary systems to exceed escape velocity and get it into space. People are invested in, and watching the launch and having doubts because of these alterations. It would be too dangerous, though, to overhaul the rocket after lift-off when it's at full acceleration.

So I say make the adjustments now which will allow it to reach the stars. Fine tuning can be done later by spacewalking delegates.

General Discussion / Re: v. 0.4.23 windows 32bit issue
« on: October 30, 2014, 10:48:58 am »
We're currently making new windows builds for 4.23 release, the last ones didn't build properly.

I downloaded the the new 4.23.1 and still same problem, crash at 81% when syncing.
If I start the client with clean database it won't sync always no connection.

That's the answer to my syncing problem.

General Discussion / Cannot sync new client if less 2G Ram
« on: October 29, 2014, 06:22:50 am »
I have 32bit win7 with 8G ram but only 3G available due to 32bit win7 system allocation

I backed up my /BitSharesX dir (database) so I can restore and repeat the syncing.

Installed 0.4.23 and start syncing, while at 82% complete it eats up 98% of my available memory then crash.

So I tried memory optimizer software still crash, also tried different approach still it crashes due to low memory.

The only way to sync it is in the client mode that will take hours even days to complete.
or just upgrade your memory.

FYI

edit: I managed to optimized the RAM and still it keep crashing at 82%, so I guess it's not the RAM, something with the 32bit for this version.
