It looks like Tidal is a disaster: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-3547275/It-s-embarrassing-Rihanna-s-former-publicist-claims-singer-upset-Jay-Z-s-Tidal-music-service-following-disastrous-album-sales.html

Hopefully, Peertracks can bring the crypto-revolution to music and show them how Tidal should have been done. :)

Muse/SoundDAC / Move Peertracks to the Ethereum Blockchain
« on: April 09, 2016, 11:24:51 pm »
The Ethereum blockchain is up and running: it just works.
  • Contact the guys at UjoMusic: http://ujomusic.com/
  • Negotiate a merger between Peertracks and UjoMusic.
  • Launch the new Peertracks Dapp on the Ethereum blockchain.

Do you happen to have Adobe manager program?

Not sure if this question is directed at me, but no, I don't use any Adobe products.  I use Linux, and Adobe does not like or support Linux at all, so I choose to avoid their products. For example, Adobe Flash has not had an update for Linux in years.  It is still stuck on version 11 while the versions for Windows and Mac are up to version 18.  Adobe seems to be openly hostile to open source, so I will NEVER use any of their products.

By the way, my Bitshares wallet blockchain is finally fully caught up.

Okay, I'm at 96% and rising. It still crashes frequently, so I back up the chain folder after each crash and restart. 0.92 is still not super stable of Fedora 22, but it is much better than 0.8, which wouldn't start up at all.  I'm really looking forward to Bitshares 2.0.

Update: just jumped to 97%, then crashed again.  Backing up now and restarting...

I occasionally run it on Fedora 21, no problems.

But I have run into the famous syncing problems.. afair, what worked for me was deleting the whole ~/.BitShares directory, except the wallet, and then trying again.

It'll take awhile.

Thank you both for the replies.  I ended up downloading the blockchain from an alternate source.  I'm was at 93% when I left home.  I'll see if it finished when I get home.

Hello everyone!

I installed version 0.92 of Bitshares several days ago.  I starts up and runs,  but I have not been able to successfully download the entire blockchain.  The client eventually crashes every time.  I am trying again right now.  It's at 15% (434856 of 2927527 blocks downloaded).  It has been at 434856 for a few minutes.

Here is what happens every time: it will download some of the blockchain (the highest that I have been able to get to is 26%), then it will just stop. The circle is still spinning, but it does not appear that any data is actually being downloaded.  At some point after being stuck at the same block height, the client will just disappear (crash). On next startup, it will complain about corrupt data, and give me the option to reset.  If I reset, it will start downloading the blockchain again from 0%, but it will stick at some point, and the cycle continues over and over again.

At the bottom of the client it says "severe network problems".  It has said this every time I've run the client so far.  Right now, Bitshares 0.92 is not usable for me at all.  I'd appreciate help if anyone know why this is happening.  Thank you!

The Moonstone wallet crowdsourcing campaign is only 18% funded with 16 days left (https://moonstone.io/).  It does not seem that it is being promoted at all, so I suspect that most people don't even know about it.  I have a few questions:
  • Why wasn't Moonstone crowdsourced in parallel with the Peertracks crowdsource?   I think that it would have raised a lot more money if it had been able to benefit from the notoriety of the Peertracks project.
  • Why is the Moonstone crowdsource not being actively promoted (as far as I can tell) on social media (Reddit, Facebook, Twitter etc)?
  • If Moonstone does not meet its funding goal, how will this impact the delivery of Peertracks?

Thanks in advance for any answers.

It doesn't matter.  Peertracks is so far ahead of any Bitcoin-based solution that there is no chance that one could be released before Peertracks goes live.  As long as Peertracks is a solid product, they should have no problem capturing a lot of the music service marketshare.  The crypto-equity aspect makes me think that Peertracks could end up being a lot bigger than many think.  We'll see soon.....

What did you say in your youtube message if you don't mind me asking?

I don't remember the exact wording, but I basically said that I admire her work, and I understand her frustration with the way that the traditional music industry works.  I told her that I think that her talents and following seem to me to be a perfect fit for the PeerTracks concept.  I included a link to the Bitcoins and Gravy interview.

Did you get a chance to write her?

Hi Delulo!
Yes  I did.  I sent her a message via Youtube.   I haven't received a reply yet, but she seems like the perfect artist for PeerTracks: extremely talented, but with a fearlessness that I think would attract a really huge following.  Hopefully, she'll hear about PeerTracks and check us out.

By the way, Ms. Banks recently gained her freedom from her exploitative record label (http://www.theguardian.com/music/2014/jul/11/azealia-banks-leaves-record-deal-universal), so hopefully, she might see PeerTracks are a good fit for her and her fans.

Hello all!

I grew up during the 1980s which I considered to be the last golden era of music, until recent experiences changed my mind.  Azealia Banks is an AMAZING artist that gives me the same goosebumps that I felt when I first heard Michael Jackson and Prince back in 1982/1983.

Here is one of her most popular songs:

She is captivating.  Whether you love or hate her music, she knows how to grab people's attention.  I just sent her a message on Youtube to let her know about Peertracks.com and BitShares Music (if she has not already heard of them).  I told her that I believe that she would absolutely blow up on PeerTracks.  She has made some statements recently that guarantee her a loyal following.  She said things that were extremely courageous that you NEVER hear from a big artist that has a lot to lose.

Let's show her some love, and let her know that some of the injustices that she references would be solved by a decentralized music platform where artists CANNOT be exploited.

If you want to hear some of her thoughts on societal issues, this interview is a very good starting point:

Sincerely,
