Ok, so there's a guy "Jozzy" on TradingView(.com) that I've been comm with, he makes money every day on bitfinex. Here is the terms he uses to describe how he makes his money. His income from his investments (passive income) is just about to exceed his monthly expenses. A very young guy nearing his financial retirement...

"provide liquidity"
"return swaps"
"provide return swaps"
"provide liquidity to margin positions"

Jozzy - well, I provide liquidity to margin positions on Bitfinex. Current rate is 0.1% per day interest paid.

Jozzy referred me to this page to better explain how to do what he does, via bitfinex:
https://www.bitfinex.com/pages/features#swap

Can anyone direct me to a wiki page or forum thread that teaches me how to do the above with Bitshares and/or Bitassets??
Please and Thank You :)

#1 Would it be possible to bring the Darkcoin (er, "Dash") Foundation in as a Bitshares DAC?

From eduffield's post (https://darkcointalk.org/threads/rebranding-followup.4266/):
"the name “Darkcoin” has some negative perception by businesses we’ve reached out to. They’ve said, it’s not the privacy centric nature of the product, but the name that is unfortunate"

"the foundation began investigating the use of it [Dash] and found a trademark application ... we need to challenge that trademark application to even be able to use the name, otherwise it’s a complete non-starter"

"We’re absolutely open to everyone’s input and always have been. We would like this process to be 100% transparent as possible. In the community supports it, I would support hiring a firm to handle the rebranding for us. We could allow the firm to engage directly and transparently with the community, then have foundation members vote on the final decision. Originally when the community started talking about rebranding months ago, we also began talking about it internally. It’s obvious that we missed something in the process and I’d also like to apologize on behalf of myself and the foundation’s board for this."

Needless to say, I got a Darkcoin buy signal today on their news.

Could Bitshares help them by converting their Foundation to a DAC and #2 allowing their coin holders to maybe even get some yield if there was a Dash-market-pegged bitDash asset, er uh, yeah, I know this is a total newbie question sorry. I'm thinkin we could help a lot of the altcoins out there... not just the bitBTC, ya know??

Would love your thumbs down on her new 2min crypto bashing rant:

I mentioned Bitshares on an earlier post with her too but my posts get deleted when promoting Bitshares.

I bought 1.00 bitSilv a few days ago as a test. I wanted to see the "Estimated Yield" section show me something.

After a couple of days the Yield section now shows that I have earned 0.0002 silver.

#1 Cool, ok, so now why does the bitsilv not show in my Assets table?
#2 Can I have my yields automatically reinvested into Bitshares (or bitSilv) somehow?

Thanx in advance for any direction on this. The wiki seems really out of date (btsx, bitshares x, protoshares stuff, etc).

I shifted a sum of money to my BTS id this morning (kencode). Shapeshift say it went thru, yet it still does not show in my transactions or my balance.

Is that because I live in Germany and the Bitshares magician lives in California or something and he just hasn't woken up yet?

What are the bell times at Bitshares anyway?

Technical Analysis in a rigged market is useless (Wall Street).

Now, with Bitshares, I see opportunity to use real Technical Analysis to hedge, speculate and make money whether cryptos are going up, or down, AND not have to worry so much about my Analysis being worthless (since they can HFT the market any which way they want grrrrr).

The wiki is lacking this info (it still says Bitshares X and PTS too) and appears out of date: http://wiki.bitshares.org

Anyway...
Can the Bitshares client facilitate this level of trading/charting/predictions yet, and if not, is it in the works, by whom, expected release, etc?

Bitshares' brand is everything.

We are trying to promote Bitshares at a Wall Street level; start grabbing some of that $700 Trillion.

No more chest hair, please. ;)
How about a high-quality, long-sleeved white collared shirt with an embroidered Bitshares logo?

Something like this?
http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/img-thing?.out=jpg&size=l&tid=127689952
That shirt has the gold buttons that match the gold in the word "bit" on the cover of your book too.

I'm sure we as a community here could have a Bitshares Crowdfunding to buy you 4 or 5 of them, no problem. Dan and Brian too?
Maybe even up your delegate pay a bit to keep them pressed?

Bitshares primary colors (white, the light blues of the logo, and a dash of that gold color) and proper branding will create the right kind of awareness.
Thoughts??

This will be our biggest one yet! Who's coming?
Newbs to bitcoin of course so we can do some trading, an Electrical Engineer, Bitshares guru, a Doctor (in case you drink too much), the BitxATM guru and an IoT crypto junkie like myself :)

Right now, Bitpay is the predominant POS software for merchants.
If a merchant decides to accept bitcoin, they usually choose Bitpay.

I'd like to see an app that allows the merchant to accept ANY cryptocurrency.
Bitshares is the perfect choice here, no? But how?

If I go to a store and I feel like paying with litecoin, they should accept it. The money goes right into their Bitshares or bitAsset account.
Same thing goes for bitSilver, darkcoin, namecoin, whatever.

The only thing the Checkout should consist of is the large tablet, card swipe/nfc module, the handheld barcode scanner with mount, small printer for customers who request a receipt and a cash drawer.

Is anyone working on an expanded POS app for that yet?

General Discussion / bitPost - An Asset that could replace UPS and FedEx?
« on: February 25, 2015, 02:00:07 pm »
Had an idea today, sorry if this one has already been discussed, but thought I might share it here.

From CoinTelegraph:
http://cointelegraph.com/news/113543/bitcoin-and-magic-is-decentralized-shipping-coming#comment-1874686945

"you'll know when shipping and delivery are truly decentralized when there are no more disclaimers about orders having to be “legal.”" - Exactly. I wonder if Delivery services could be considered an Asset, like bitGold. You could have DPoS Delegates do the actual deliveries, working for say bitPost. bitPost could be traded on Bitshares like any other asset. The more money that flows in would increase the yields and demand for more Delegates, eventually making bitPost a global delivery system.

Cody is not the only one having problems shipping stuff.

General Discussion / Here's a snapshot of your Crypto Net Worth
« on: February 24, 2015, 03:23:13 pm »
http://www.cryptocurrencychart.com

  • Set your currency
  • Set number of currencies to Top 25
  • Check the boxes of the crypto-currencies you're vested in
  • Type the number coins you have into each "my coins" field

At the bottom, it shows your CNW.

Cool, huh?
Here's another site that does some nice charting of your CNW too, but this site does not use localstorage or cookies to remember your settings each day:
http://www.cryptocoinrank.com - this one integrates news and some other icons tho which is really nice!

I'd love to see something like these in Bitshares Client (and Wallets) too.
Peace,

I wanted to try a transfer of bitshares to my bitcoin account.
I went to shapeshift.io.
Deposit Bitshares, Receive Bitcoin.
I pasted my bitcoin address into the Receive field and clicked start.
I opened my bitshares client, sent 5 bitshares to "shapeshiftio" just like they said todo.
I pasted in the "MEMO: shiftnnnnnnnnnnnnn" text too.
It took 30 seconds or so, but now bitshares client no longer says Pending.
Now the 5 bitshares is gone from my bitshares balance, plus the fee.
Shapeshift screen still says "Awaiting Deposit".
No money has been sent to my bitcoin wallet.
I contacted Shapeshift an hour ago about this with two screen captures showing my bitshares client, and their shapeshift screen that still says "Awaiting Deposit".

I'm glad I did a small test with just 5 bitshares, as I think that money has disappeared.

Until I hear back from shapeshift, can anyone here confirm this is a problem when Shifting bitshares to a bitcoin address?
Thanx in advance :)

With my agenda of decentralizing everything, I'd like to start creating Bitshares for my ePlug project as well.

For info on my ePlug project see kenCode.de/projects/ePlug

Anyway, I'd like to use Bitshares for ePlug crowdfunding and also for an eplug.p2p decentralized website.
1. Will that require me to create an eplug sub-account in the bitshares client?
2. Will that require me to create an ePlug Asset in the bitshares client?
3. How do I register the ePlug.p2p domain?
4. How/where will the files for the ePlug.p2p (nodejs) website be served? Bitshares client? ZeroNet? Storj?

The bitshares client doesn't really explain what I need to type into the various fields, placeholder info or tooltips etc.
I've only got a couple thousand bts right now but will shift more in there if needed, just need to know what i need, ya know? :)
Thanx again everyone for all your help!
