I would suggest that you send a PM to Gentso1 and ask his advise in this matter. I'm sure that he will be able and  willing to help.

Will do :)

cass thank you!

clout, i just found this wiki which cleared a bunch up for me too re dns:
http://wiki.bitshares.org/index.php/.p2p_(BitShares_DNS)

at some point, there should be a devoted DNS thread on bitsharestalk. that topic is going to get pretty big over the coming months as the gov starts to clamp down things even harder, icann gets hacked again, etc. DNS can't be back burnered either. My focus right now tho is learning how to do options trading with bitshares, one of its greatest strengths i think. gotta finish max's book first tho :)

General Discussion / Re: Meetup.com is the BOMB

No, but that's a really good idea!
Thanx cusknee!

Yanis throws around lots of provocative stuff.
IMO and from personal experiences (kenCode.de/bio) just avoid political figures.

Getting Bitshares to the mainstream should not be rushed. Get all of the alternative media to support Bitshares, all of the media and youtube channels in the bitcoin space of course, then the mainstream media will take notice and want to be "cool" too by throwing positive attention to Bitshares, THEN the politicians will have to show their [real] support as well.

Baby steps first. But that's just me.

I'll be discussing my love of Bitshares at our next Bitcoin Meetup here in Munich (http://www.meetup.com/Bitcoin-Munich/).
I've been organizing and attending meetups for years, welll worth it, one of the best networking venues around.
Great post rgcrypto :)

With my agenda of decentralizing everything, I'd like to start creating Bitshares for my ePlug project as well.

For info on my ePlug project see kenCode.de/projects/ePlug

Anyway, I'd like to use Bitshares for ePlug crowdfunding and also for an eplug.p2p decentralized website.
1. Will that require me to create an eplug sub-account in the bitshares client?
2. Will that require me to create an ePlug Asset in the bitshares client?
3. How do I register the ePlug.p2p domain?
4. How/where will the files for the ePlug.p2p (nodejs) website be served? Bitshares client? ZeroNet? Storj?

The bitshares client doesn't really explain what I need to type into the various fields, placeholder info or tooltips etc.
I've only got a couple thousand bts right now but will shift more in there if needed, just need to know what i need, ya know? :)
Thanx again everyone for all your help!

I've got investments in a few different cryptos now, including BTS of course.

If there's a way todo this in the bitshares client, I can't find it.
I'd like to get alerts and chart my different coins' performance.

I can get alerts by email or something if the price of coin xyz hits $5 or coin pdq hits 5 euros, etc.
I can see my net worth across all the cryptos, chart it, run history and reports, etc.

So, I don't have to tell a centralized exchange which cryptos I hold.
Something like this:
http://www.google.com/finance?chdnp=1&chdd=1&chds=1&chdv=1&chvs=maximized&chdeh=0&chfdeh=0&chdet=1424622725513&chddm=433&chls=IntervalBasedLine&cmpto=SWX:MSFT;CURRENCY:BTC;CURRENCY:USD&cmptdms=1;1;1&q=INDEXDJX:.DJI&ntsp=0&ei=dgTqVOnfNoeAwQPo4YGoAQ

...BUT, on a decentralized page, like in bitshares(blocks?) or something.

I shouldn't have to login to every one of my wallets just to see it's current market value, decide when to shift some to a different coin, etc.
Alerts and advanced charting for my various cryptos..... in Bitshares now??

I can't find the users post, but someone had mentioned that I should never post my username (kencode) and public key (BTS...ypw) online.

Is that a problem? A security issue?
Please advise..

Thanx in advance :)

Technical Support / Re: I wanna try Bitshares, BUT..

All is well now, thank you everyone for your help!

My laptop is only 3 years old roughly, it's a Dell, top of the line when I bought it. The best way to get Bitshares Client installed, although it took about 45 minutes, was to go to the bitshares github and copy every line into your Terminal to build/make the bitshares client run properly:
https://github.com/BitShares/bitshares/blob/master/BUILD_UBUNTU.md

The first time you start up the bitshares client, let it run and run and run till it syncs first!
Then after a few hours it should be done, from there, come to this forum for your free bitshares faucet deposit, then once that deposit shows up in your bitshares client, THEN you can register your name, shapeshift a few bucks into your new account, and voila, you're up and running with bitshares.

Everyone here is awesome, you just gotta be patient getting it all setup, it's worth it, no worries! :)
Cheerz from Munich! :)

Edit: send me your bts, I'll give you 0.5 bts for registration

Those images above are mine, I got it installed ok, but it won't let me register.

I'd like to register my username: kencode
It says my public key is:
BTS4zEc53ZizvYHZEjK7Fm63dnM4buGqf9KamurkynTxryKrzEypw

Please and thanx! :)

hmm. look for the "./BitShares" file in various folders of the bitshares main folder. I also am not a super technical guy... ;)

Edit: According to https://github.com/BitShares/bitshares/blob/master/BUILD_UBUNTU.md the exectuable file should be in programs/qt_wallet/ -> Terminal: cd programs/qt_wallet/ -> ./BitShares

hmm, nope. just a .git and .gitignore sits in the qt_wallet folder as far as the hidden files goes anyway.
i'm trying the "extra steps" from here (https://github.com/BitShares/bitshares/blob/master/BUILD_UBUNTU.md) right now..
i just wanted to get bitshares installed so i could create and fund an account but if i need to do these "extra steps" too, well i am now so i'll post here the results..

2265
you can also open the terminal and enter:

cd /home/ENTER-NAME-OFYOUR-LINUXUSERACCOUNT-HERE/bitshares/programs/qt_wallet/bin

and then enter: ./BitShares

that should open the client too.

ah hah!
the /bin directory does not exist.
now what?
