interesting, I was under the impression freebieservers had more influence. in the end 0 teams signed up...?

We've been solely focusing on gamebet.gg for the past few days. This is metric from 2 days of taking sign ups.
I decided not to move forward with the tournament until we launched 2 key projects (gamebet & gambit) as they use Bitshares heavily and it made no sense to have the tournament until the projects were launched. I'll get back to promoting Bitshares as these pieces fall in place.

We had close to 400 bets being placed in our alpha test mode. I'll share metrics later.

Regards

Thanks as always for providing us the info :)

I am excited to look at the numbers from today  as I hadn't done major promotions until yesterday and GA takes 24 hours to update.
Over the course of the week, hopefully we should hit 10-15k views. One of the smart things hybridd did was the live stream of matches and the schedule listings. I think a large number of users use the system for that purpose too. So far, I've had very positive responses from individuals that saw the concept.

General Discussion / Re: Crowd Donations for Mike Hearn Hangout

@fuzzy thank you. I will send you 2,000 later today.

Regarding the list I would like also Andreas Antonopoulos.

He has done an extremely good job helping Bitcoin in many ways,

however he is too bitcoin centric, everything other than bitcoin isn't good for him. He sees bitcoin in a pedestal and doesn't accept the idea of any other cryptos. At least that's my opinion of what I've seen of him. It's either bitcoin or nothing.

@Akado that is why it would be interesting to have him in a hangout. It would be a debate. There is no purpose doing hangouts with external parties that agree that bitshares is better than bitcoin. We should want to have debates with bitcoin enthusiasts and convince them why bitshares is better.

@fuzzy just to let you know that if you have sent me any copper or silvercoin nothing has gone through.

I agree but my opinion about him is you might try to justify with all the rational arguments and facts that he will just continue to say no, just because. He has done some pretty bold statements in the past that I was pretty amazed to see from someone like him. I don't remember about what though, maybe PoW vs PoS? Can't remember for sure.

I remember one comparison with a metaphor about cars and wheels? I don't remember if it was that one but it was something that atm made zero sense to me.

Still, I might be wrong. I'd welcome him or anyone else of course, as long as they actually debate stuff instead of just saying: no this won't work, btc is better.

I think one awesome theme to any of those guys would be Governance. How Bitcoin governance may seem to have some problems and has involved coercion and corruption (assuming Mike Hearns arguments are true). How BitShares aims to solve that. What other solutions should bitcoin or us consider, etc. Or how could BItsahres and bitcoin help each other mutually

Could someone please explain what's with the hype around Mike Hearn?
You have an individual that's walked around calling himself a core Bitcoin Dev when his contribution weren't major, profited from his involvement in Bitcoin (personal growth) - and then went on to criticise the system when he found it convenient to do so ? Aren't we having dual standards between him and Charles Hoskinson ?
How about we invite actual businesses instead of "celebrities"  into our ecosystem and back them for projects ?

Prediction markets seem to be the best thing BTS has going for it...

Come to think of it a few good PM's would be...

-How many companies actually make it to MVP with bts by end of Q2 2016?
-How much in worker proposals BTS will spend by end of Q2 2016?
-Market cap of BTS by end of Q2 2016?

- Next big exchange being hacked and btc stolen
- Next big exchange shutting down due to hack, scam, etc (like gox or cryptsy)

We are inching closer to the launch of gamebet.gg and we have very strong incentives to integrate Bitshares into it.
The PM has been something I've been looking into for a while , but maknig it appealing to gamers in general is another ball game together.
We emphasize a lot on developers but  in all honesty, from my observation..

1. A lot of key projects are centered around a few companies (Data, CCEDK, CNX.. and there's us somewhere in the corner)
2. There is very little incentive (other than the product) for new organizations to enter this space. We need to make it more welcoming.
3. Documentation will help but grabbing developer attention is another ball game. Why don't we host a 10,000 USD hackathon ? I'd donate a little for that.
4. We need a team of devoted business developers working with media and vc's to show why Bitshares is a useful  / viable entity.
5. As CNX moves away from Bitshares, we need to make more avenues for new leaders to lead the way. These leaders should have opposing views so that the community can make the best of choices.

To put what am saying in perspective..
Compare

1. No. of daily tx's of nxt/btc with Bts
2. Amount of VC investments into BTC vs BTS on year 3
3. Amount of discussions about BTC vs BTS

We are nowhere in the limelight. How the fuck do we expect people to know about us when all we do is sit here and discuss worker proposals ?
If there is utility, it needs to be marketed. The sharebot was one step in that direction. What @kenCode and @ronny are  doing is another.
In my personal opinion, businesses shouldn't depend on worker proposals to build services of utlity but create viable business models that generate a ROI over a period of time. The worker proposal system reminds me of the soviet union and you know where they ended up at.

I sure do hope they have their boots ready to kick themselves extra hard :)
We are slowly rolling out to an early alpha over the week. You will witness the site evolve into a transactional system over the next 4-7 days.

General Discussion / Re: What if we?
« on: January 19, 2016, 05:39:43 am »
Still the question is how can we create a BitAsset that requires only 100% collateral from the short side?
That way a bridge can accept LTC and credit BitLTC & vice versa.

explain further?

A centralized exchange accepts real LTC and credits you with an LTC IOU.

We need a bridge like Metaexchange to be able to accept real LTC and credit people with BitLTC for a very low cost, then we can replicate the services of a centralized exchange.

I was under the impression that in addition to market makers, this would be easier if there was a lower collateral requirement to create BitAssets but I might be confused

@monsterer @Shentist
@kuro112 @hybridd, @Xypher
@dannotestein

thoughts?

what is the financial incentive for an organization doing this ?

Kuro and hybridd have been working on something.. working on something..working on something... :)

I noticed this message on Telegram from @Xypher .  I wanted to pass it along:

"Crypted Xypher
If you are working on prediction markets. PLEASE contact me as am working on a betting project and I can really use help there. I'd be glad to plugnin your product to what we are building"

Indeed, I'd like to confirm this.
I've been "hunting' for documentation on prediction markets for a while. Since one of our projects does interact with "probabilities" of a certain event happening a lot, I believe PM's can be built into the product in a very efficient fashion. If there are individuals working on this, I'd be glad to work with them to see possibilities of a collaboration.

General Discussion / Electrons.io - Looking for new management team.
« on: January 09, 2016, 09:55:46 am »
We have a series of projects with us, waiting to be offloaded / launched in the months to come. Since our core market isn't crypto-currencies, we are looking to slowly move away from the market and focus on gaming in the months to come. This means, we have a series of IP / Software that is mostly developed, waiting to deployed with us. Since I am in the process of raising funds for some of our projects, I am looking to offload some of the projects we won't be launching ourselves and utlising the funds to keep us running in the months to come. . I am looking for prospective buyers that would be interested in taking the project, the IP and any associated domain / code involved with the projects.

As of now Electrons.io is a standalone exchange built directly into the wallet. Users are made to send their bts to electron-io in the Bitshares blockchain and the funds are instantly exchanged to Btc and sent to the Btc wallet id included in the memo of the transaction. The same is currently implemented with Nxt and Ethereum. Unlike Shapeshift, the system doesn't requier the utility of a website and enables exchanges directly from the wallet and therefore remains immune to the dependency of a website being up. Exchanges occur at best possible prices in real time and the API automatically communicates with a number of exchanges to make sure the exchange occurs in the shortest period of time.

Prospective buyers will be given complete IP - in terms of code, branding and domain and we'll assist with the setting up of the project.
Price : Open to negotiation.

I have pm'ed a few exchanges here, but if someone else would want a project like this, feel free to message me.
P.s - I am open to multiple buyers splitting the costs involved. As of now, the exchange is not live and the website solely has placeholders on.

General Discussion / Re: Feasibility of prediction market business
« on: January 08, 2016, 11:28:46 am »
It seems to be a pretty good consensus here that prediction markets will be a big thing for Bitshares. I agree on a theoretical level, but in practice it's not so simple.

First of all, Augur has a big lead. They have millions of funding. They have a big group of developers and good marketing. So far we have nothing of those.

Question is: if we build the technology, will the funding, devs and users come?

We haven't seen any meaningful interest in building a PM business on top of the Bitshares blockchain. I would consider a team that is serious about PM business to be a requirement for developing it. It's useless to waste scarce resources to a technology that nobody is ready to use yet.

One of our portfolio projects (gamebet.gg) is a pioneer in the e-sports gambling front considering it will be the world's first to utilize the blockchain for real time betting on e-sports tournaments. I am open to working with individuals on integration of PM into it. I've been hunting for documentation on the same for a while but I've been busy with other things. If you are interested, I'd be glad to spend time and look into it.

59
If you have a reliable source / api we can use for sporting events, I'd be glad to plug it into gamebet at a later stage.
We are already using Bitshares for basic bets on e-sports tournaments and intend to go from there.
Right now we support CS:GO and intend to add more games in the months to come.

You guys know that this is a BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY where money can be made by however establishes a (privatized) bit asset tracking a successful asset and having high liquidity FIRST?

I for my self would provide them if I had access to reliable price sources (like bloomberg) and if my lawyer would tell me that it's safe to do ..
So true.
I had a hedge fund manager friend of mine interested in donig this through an offshore entity.
Maybe he could partner with @ccedk  and do it.
