The first users of BitAssets will likely be existing BTS holders and we can discern from BitSilver and BitGold that very few of us hold much/any of our external positions in BitAssets.

As BitAssets get more mature, robust, liquid and generally developed or if external risk factors increase, we’ll be more likely to hold them for less and less yield.

However to give us an idea of the gap between where BTS is and where BTS needs to be right now. I think we can look at the difference between the average yield it would take BTS users to hold a reasonable percentage of their Gold/Silver/Currency in BitAssets at this current stage of development.

This will also be useful in understanding what’s required to get BitAssts up to X CAP at a certain point in time.

General Discussion / The DAC as a limited internal market maker
« on: February 18, 2015, 01:53:04 am »
Wouldn't it be useful if the blockchain was a market maker on the internal markets? (But with a conservative daily limit and maximum total exposure limit to mitigate the risks we were worried about previously.)

We have a group of extremely talented & loyal developers already working on BitShares. We need those guys to continue doing their amazing work. They're not politicians and getting 4/5 multiple delegate seats is hard and would not be popular right now.

How do we provide our current core developers with a competitive salary & some future certainty going forward?

General Discussion / Greece could be huge for Bitcoin
« on: February 07, 2015, 01:26:10 pm »
Greece will be great for Bitcoin

Bitcoin is quite a risky volatile way to store money and is only worth the effort if your current options are even riskier.

I was in BTC before the Cyprus ordeal & that was really huge for BTC at a time when few knew what BTC was.

There's a possibility of a Grexit & many bank failures soon. People in Europe will be worried about their savings too.  We could see a big Bitcoin rally in the next few weeks on the back of this.

So the value of all crypto should rise. It depends if BTS releases anything in the interim as to whether we lose a bit of ground in BTC terms.

DirectBet is the safest place to bet for the simple reason that we do not take deposits and keep hold of your valuable coins, except during the lifetime of the bet and only the amount that you elected to bet. This period of time is kept to the minimum thanks to the fact that we settle all bets within an hour. In case of Direct Dice, winnings are paid out as soon as the dice is rolled. Your coins are kept safe in your wallet under your control at all other times.

This sounds great as besides being safer than a site that keeps deposits I think it means every bet will generate volume for BTS. People will also keep some of their winnings in BitUSD too. So it could stimulate both volume and an increase in the BitUSD CAP.

These are also the kind of sites that BitUSD might appeal to in terms of avoiding/hedging volatility.

If it's a site you might consider using for the occasional Dice/other game please consider voting.
