General Discussion / Re: Website 4.0....
« on: March 30, 2014, 11:32:36 am »
The current site is really great and everyone seem to love it. You have to let go control for these things, this is not your expertise and a big step backwards. Just talk to Brian if you have any suggestions and I'm sure he will integrate them in a nice way.

Sorry to hear that mate, you can ask one of the forum moderators to delete your post if needed but it's a brave thing to do to to post your message and ask for some advice. I'm sure everyone has been in a similar position before with little to no money, no real idea about what you want in life and possibly with little self esteem so i don't think anyone would judge you. Sometimes the world is a crazy place and if you feel you can't handle it for now just go talk to someone about your problems like a family member or close friend. And if you like running a hostel just got for it, put your goal to that and i'm sure you can make it happen. And it may sound lame but everyone's different thankfully! If everyone's the same we would have no inventions, art and protests. I'm by no means a professional in these things but it might relax yourself to take on sports, take a walk outside and enjoy the beautiful world around you. Good luck man and don't worry too much , if there's anything I can do just send me a pm.

Getting something for nothing doesn't exist. You either have to work hard if your health allows this and don't quit the job you have even if it's the most boring or tiresome job in the world. On the work floor you might be able to meet new people, take courses etc to grow in the company and apply for other jobs which pay more. Just save your 1000 for when your netbook breaks down or some other unforseen event. It's also wise (and free) to start learning programming online, there are various websites which will guide you through it.

c++ should be fine for it's core. Wrappers will be created eventually to support higher level languages and ease of use. I will give a go at creating .NET wrappers once we got a steady 'base DAC' but I do have to dive into the existing code a little bit more.

Keyhotee / Re: Keyhotee - Rebranding
« on: March 24, 2014, 07:30:59 pm »
BitMail sounds nice indeed, I do like the name Keyhotee but I agree it might be difficult to market and it doesn't say anything about what it does, but then again so doesn't Firefox, Chrome and Skype.

Well  +5% for BitMail anyways!

Use Longitude/Latitude, instead of street addresses?
Yeah but it's kinda hard for a courier to walk around with a GPS to deliver the package. I think reverse lookups are the easiest to integrate in the existing logical processes.

This is nice , could work similar to Bitshares DNS , next time you only have to put a name and number on your package. It could be possible to add a(n) additional index(es) to all existing addresses. So we only have to lookup and store this index(eS) instead of the full address. Couriers could also use this index(es) for reverse lookups. Although the most difficult part would probably be convincing them that this is a lot easier and faster them full addresses.

Ah sorry , slight confusion with my typing there. This would be a better line:
''...to raise money from the shareholders who would like to see this case solved'.

They would invest if they think it's for a good cause and would like to see justice done. It really is similar to crow funding. Also investors get their shares from unsolved cases and the bounty put up by the case creator so that could be another reason.

Aww man I don't mean to shoot you down, was just trying to foster discussion =P. The more I think about it the more it seems like this *does* provide a benefit over a centralized solution. So ignore me and keep discussing the idea.

Here's my understanding for why the other DAC ideas could not be centralized:

BTS X: Having priviledged access to the price feed is a killer (trust)
BTS DNS: Regulation (seizure & MITM), profit
BTS Music: Same issues as with all centralized media, "the rich get richer" (more access to distribution points -> easier to lock others out)

Ha don't worry mate it's good you keep an eye on the forum and help people where you can, I'm not even sure myself if it's a DAC according to I3's rules but in my head it is :p

Yes I have but help me out on why this can't be classified as a DAC.

Well I don't know for sure because I haven't thought through the possibilities, but my thinking is that you could just as easily make it a centralized website and it would accomplish exactly the same thing (though possibly it would have to use Tor to avoid regulation). You aren't utilizing any emergent network behavior as far as I can tell.
Yes a centralized version could be possible , but that could be said about most DAC's. It's easier and faster to setup and more maintainable. But by decentralizing it you take away any doubts about selfish interests, regulation and security of your data. All the action's in this proposed DAC will be the result of atype of network voting. Maybe I am totally missing the point as well so maybe another staff member could shed a light on this so I can rethink this.

I think because it is not profitable enough
That's true, it's not a huge profit machine. The social dilemma part I find hard to grasp when it's concerning DAC's. I think this is rather similar to the proposed  insurance DAC.
