@EstefanTT   Thanks for describing the issue.  Sorry, trying to figure out what's going on.   Are you still getting that issue? It seems ok on my system.  If you can make sure you download your keys by clicking the key symbol that would be great.

FYI the account creation process doesn't seem to be working so we have to figure out what's going on there as well.

I briefly checked it out yesterday it's a great start! Truly minimalistic. The weird thing is that the simplicity was almost confusing. Maybe that's just me being used to our wallets :) But an extra option or two, table column, or a little bit more info somehow could help. Maybe some guidance text, especially on the account create page. Small things like: "Enter first name" could be "Enter nickname" because it communicates the intent better. Some other brief thoughts:
 - There are 2 white dots above and below the $ sign, they might look ok if they were aligned with the center stroke but they are offset to the right by a few pixels in my browser
 - The ">" and "<" buttons would be better as unique icons or maybe simply flipped. On the "Send" page the arrow points to the right, which makes me think "go forward" when it really brings me back to the account overview.

I haven't tried making a transaction yet.. it doesn't recognize assets other than CASH.USD right? Do we have a USD:CASH.USD market?

Thanks for the great feedback!  Yes I think our goal is to 'say nothing yet say everything'.... but we have to find the best zen path :P.. someone also mentioned instructions.  I think for now maybe some kind of call-out information (i) icon might be a good start.

1) I think nickname works well!  We'll most likely change 'first name' to 'nickname' !   Thanks!

2) Yes the dots are css and I can see it being off  on various browsers... we probably need to create an svg of that symbol ...calling on @cass?  you there? :)

3)  Yes there are technically only two screens, the keypad and balance screen.  When you press 'send' it's supposed to be more modal-like or a child of the keypad screen.  Otherwise it's > to balance and < to home.  Will think about ways to convey that better..

4) I'll send you a small amount of CASH.USD if you still have access to your wallet.  (You can save your keys clicking on the key symbol.)  My account is: jun1     I'm hoping people create CASH.USD using instructions under 'Why create CASH.USD and how do I do it?' at https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php/topic,22192.0.html

Thanks so much for the feedback!

More feedback.

In the app, the list of transactions shows amounts, but not which account the money came from or went to. I know you want to keep it simple, was this a conscious decision? I imagine some scenarios where people would want to see this information without going to a block explorer.

Also the amounts don't always add up, i.e. the sum of transactions doesn't equal the balance. I imagine this is because of rounding, but it would confuse some people. Would it be much work to overcome this problem?

When typing in who to send money to, it doesn't offer a list of choices when you've input a partial account name. I like this fact! On a smartphone it's too easy to tap the wrong item on a list and not notice. There will be fewer mistakes how you've done it.

When messing around I noticed the response within the 'app' when you do a successful transaction is the same as with one which is invalid/unsuccessful. This means the user has to check the transaction list or balance to see if it worked. Could there be something to indicate whether or not a transaction was completed?

What you've done is very effective, lovely and simple. The simplicity makes it seem all the more magical. "What? I've just received money from Dave? But all I did was go to this site, choose a name and tell Dave!".

Thanks for the great feedback!

We're planning to get as much feedback up to probably 1,000 people in the alpha phase and then go to beta.. maybe up to 10,000 before an official launch.

1) Yes we wanted to keep it simple, but partly because it's easier to code  :P.. we do want to highlight/show 'To/From/Date' when you click on one of the rows.  That should be in the beta phase.  :)

2) I think the network fees range are around +/-1.3 cents currently.   That amount is deducted from your balance instead of the receiver so unfortunately the amounts don't add up.  There's also a bit of dust that remains as well.  You'll notice if you have $1 left you can't send it all, you'll have to send 98 cents and the rest will go to fees.  Not sure the best UX is but for now I guess we just explain there are fees.  Ideally we will have %-based transaction fees + a free for members pricing structure.

3)  Interesting to know about tapping the wrong name!   What about an auto-suggestion for recent recipients or your friend list?

4)  Yes there is delay and uncertainty until you wait to make sure it went through.  Maybe some kind of confirmation notice before going to the next screen, but have to see what we can do there technically.

Thanks so much for all the feedback!

@abit - I sent $2.50 to abit1

Sent small amounts that add up to around $2.50 to abit1!

Sent $2.50 more to hadriantest1!

Just created estefan.test (estefan.test1) to test it.

I like the super simpe UI ! I like it a lot !!!

Good job, I want everybody I know to have something like that and deal with all the small money exchange with this app.

Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

Thanks so much for the kind words @EstefanTT !... Yes it's great for small money exchange... maybe for splitting lunch/dinner or making bets with friends.  Good way to introduce everyday people to Bitshares/crypto.  Thanks again and I sent you a bit of CASH.USD to play with!

Awesome work merivercap.

Thanks for helping make it happen @puppies!

52
Also to see it on OL or our faucet, you go to the Wallet Management Console and click Restore Backup, choose file, enter your pincode and you should see it.

53
The icon looks very neat on the homescreen, and really functions well.

I have ID hadriantest1 and 2 if you'd like to chose one of them. I'll try sending between them, and then to someone else if they put their ID up here!

Are you excited merivercap?! :)

Yeah absolutely.  Fantastic.... thanks so much @hadrian! Sent some to hadriantest1... you just got some bitcash... real value!  I'm going to stress that with all the new people I show.. real value/money that no one can limit, freeze or restrict... they're the bank now!  :)

BTW if you click on the key symbol, you'll download the .bin file so you'll have a recovery method if you clear your browser/cookies... you can also import your key into OpenLedger or https://bts.bitcash.org to see your account there as well.   Your pin is your password.

54
wow .. that thing looks great ...
if you offer a way to import an existing account .. people wouldn't need to create new accounts to play around!

great thx!

yeah we're trying to minimize the features and this only displays CASH.USD/bitcash so we imagine people will just send CASH.USD to this wallet.  I can send you guys some.  Just let me know your account ID here and I can send some to send back and forth to play around!

I've tried it on chrome now as well as Cyanogenmod browser.

You've described it as "a very simple starter wallet for mainstream users". I think it will serve it's function very well. It's going to seem like magic to people once they've tried it to send bitcash!

When I first tried it I put my name as 'hadriantest', but my ID showed as 'hadriantest1' on what you might call the account screen. Then I tried it on a different browser (chrome) and entered my name as 'hadriantest' again. This time my ID was 'hadriantest2'. If this is to do with account names being already taken, perhaps there should be a prompt or message for the user. Also, I'm not sure why I wasn't allowed 'hadriantest', because it's not taken - do you automatically append a number?

More feedback to do with inconsistencies in the way the sending amount is displayed. A couple of examples showing input and resulting output:

1 -> $1
1. -> $1.00
1.0 -> $1
1.01 -> $1.01

Also:

1 -> $1
1. -> $1.00
1.0 -> $1
1.00 -> $1

Yes this automatically generates a cheap account name to make it easier.  Just adds 1 if the name is already taken.  Cheap names need a number or a dash.

Thanks for the feedback!  Will try to figure out that display bug.

BTW did you add to home screen?  If you do that you should get an icon and it will feel like a native app.

looks great!

Thanks!

probably because "hadriantest" is a premium name and costs the faucet a lot.

Yes that is correct.

BTW if you guys send me an account ID with the account you're testing with I can send you some bitcash to test...  it's always fun sending small amounts of real value back and forth.

Hello BitCash Founder's Club members!

We have our alpha version of the simple mobile web wallet up at: https://wallet.bitcash.org

It only works on Chrome for mobile.  (Hopefully we can eventually get the graphene-ui code to work on iPhone/Safari)  We'll eventually use React Native for iOS/Android, but having a mobile-centric web app is a good start.   You can go to the url and  'Add to Homescreen' and it will act like a native app.  Otherwise you can just use your laptop/desktop to test as well.   It's a very simple starter wallet for mainstream users.   I don't imagine people will put over $100 in it in the long-run.  It's designed to be a 'money-clip' wallet for spending cash.

Anyways if you guys can check it out and give feedback that would be great.  I'll send you guys a small amount of bitcash to send back and forth to test if you give me your user ID... Thanks!

Fantastic job @xeroc!  Definitely look forward to working with you and using this service!  +5%

I have to agree with merivercap, this is a well reasoned ... experiment, all based around social consensus AND the collective wisdom of those creating CASH.USD to fund "investments".

If that collective wisdom is accurate and the investments result in added value to the CASH.USD borrower, the transaction will stimulate economic growth. Either way it will stimulate more trading if people are willing to put up the collateral BTS to back their loans.

I think this is a good experiment.  +5% @merivercap for your initiative on this and a well written TLDR (Too Long but DO Read) post.

Great to hear you read the theory part!  :)  Thank you and very happy to have your support @Thom !

Expected trading pairs?

Mainly CASH.USD to BTS, but to get there we'll also have a CASH.BTC to BTS market to help port liquidity from Poloniex via bots and help bootstrap the CASH.USD market.

So in summary:
CASH.USD : BTS
CASH.BTC : BTS
CASH.USD : CASH.BTC

This is great because it sets us up for a nice simple exchange as well  :)

General Discussion / Introducing: CASH.USD …. where one is worth $1
« on: April 11, 2016, 07:57:33 am »
SYMBOL: CASH.USD (aka bitCASH.USD)

There now exists a smartcoin CASH.USD that I firmly believe will be commonly exchanged 1:1 with the US dollar.  CASH.USD is defined and henceforth declared to be worth exactly $1 dollar.  The price feed will be the social consensus of what amount of BTS is equivalent to $1 at any given time.  Currently we use witnesses to provide the price feed.  All the parameters are designed to support the social consensus that the value of CASH.USD is equivalent to one dollar.

Differences compared to bitUSD:
-Merchants or CASH.USD holders will not have a price floor guarantee.  If merchants/holders do not have a gateway or buyers that will exchange a CASH.USD 1:1 for a dollar, they may have to exchange it for BTS and may get more than or less than one dollar when selling BTS.

-User forced-settlement will be disabled to protect CASH.USD creators.  Any user can create CASH.USD and will not be burdened with the uncertainty of being manually force-settled and should be comfortable creating and maintaining a long-term supply of CASH.USD.  Creators of CASH.USD will only be force-settled when they are undercollateralized.

-The maximum short squeeze price is set at 100.1% so that when creators who borrow CASH.USD into existence are margin-called, the force-settlement price will be nearly identical to the price-feed.

Note: CASH.USD is an alternative to bitUSD and is experimental.  The plan is to transfer this smartcoin to the committee in the future if and when it gets enough traction.

Parameters:
MSSR: 100.1%
MCR: 175%
No forced settlement
Witnesses provide price-feed

TLDR Theory:
All fiat dollars are treated the same even when they are distinctly different.  Just think about the the qualitative difference between coinage, checkbook money, federal reserve notes, and digital dollars from Venmo/Square Cash/Paypal.  The reason such varied forms of money are treated as equivalent is because there is a social consensus of dollar equivalence.  Without a social consensus, digital dollars may be traded for more than a dollar for its convenience, and coinage less than checkbook money for its inconvenience.  However most everyone treats any form of the dollar the same.

Banks create checkbook money, the dominant part of M1 money supply, out of thin air and allow this money to circulate in the economy.  Usually banks use real estate assets as collateral to make monetary assets.  These monetary assets aka debt-money aka checkbook money  are merely accounting entries, but they are treated the same as federal reserve notes (green paper dollars in your wallet) or coins.  Again there are distinct qualitative differences between checkbook money, federal reserve notes & coins.  The current Bitshares system functions precisely the same way as banks, but instead of real estate, BTS is used as collateral.  (Read more here: http://bit.ly/1TmWL2J )

Banks create debt/checkbook money that are defined to be dollars, and the real estate collateral that backs this money can fluctuate in value.  As long as the real estate value is greater than the value of the money banks create, banks are not concerned.  In the Bitshares ecosystem, members can create an equivalent type of debt/checkbook money on the blockchain when they create CASH.USD (or borrow CASH.USD) into existence using BTS.  Hence there should be no difference between the checkbook money banks create in the current banking system compared to the CASH.USD that members create on the Bitshares system as long as the social consensus defines both types of debt-money to be valued as dollars.

What if someone trades CASH.USD for something other than a dollar?  In a free market someone can trade three quarters for one federal reserve note or a one dollar check, but that doesn’t mean trading three quarters for a dollar is part of the social consensus nor should a number of bad trades dictate what the social consensus is.  Hence as long as there is no external reason or design parameter that would lead one to believe CASH.USD is worth anything other than a dollar there will be a social consensus that it is.  The current CASH.USD design should support this reasoning.

Currently governments reserve monetary creation and liquidity for the banking monopoly.   What if we all had that power?  For example a person who has a $500,000 home can decide to create a $250,000 loan on it and treat that loan as money in his/her community.  If he/she splits the $250,000 into 2,500 Ben Franklins and circulates them around his/her community the person  just created monetary liquidity from a previously illiquid real estate asset.    In the Bitshares ecosystem we all now have the power to create our own dollar-based money from BTS collateral and use it as we wish!  That’s actually how money works in the modern economy.  CASH.USD can very well be money in the new blockchain economy and if it is, cheers for the future.

Why create CASH.USD and how do I do it?

- One reason to create CASH.USD is to help the Bitshares ecosystem become more useful and get CASH.USD to circulate in the economy.  If that’s your reason that’s great!  You can create CASH.USD, sell it for dollars and put those dollars in a bank.  You can help the ecosystem without incurring much risk at all.   People can use CASH.USD to store value or purchase goods and services without worrying about a bank or government limiting or freezing their account!

- You can also just spend the CASH.USD you create to buy goods and services and pay it back later on.  It’s like having a credit card or equity-line on your BTS collateral.

- You can use CASH.USD to buy other investments such as stocks, bonds, gold, real estate and more.  (Warning: Remember you are creating a loan and leverage with CASH.USD so if you use it for speculative activities and the value of your  investments go down you still have to pay back CASH.USD so you’re adding risk with your new investments!)

- You can also use CASH.USD to buy more BTS!
( Warning: As above you are creating a loan and leverage so if the value of BTS goes down the value of your BTS collateral goes down you may have to sell your BTS at the price feed.  The upside of leverage is that if BTS goes up you will magnify your gains, but the downside is if BTS goes down you will magnify your losses.  You are adding risk when you buy additional BTS!)

- If you are comfortable with the concepts above and understand the risks you can go to your OL web wallet, go to Explore -> Assets and search for CASH.USD.  Click the Trade button on the right.  Then on the upper left side of the screen click ‘Borrow CASH.USD’, enter an amount and create your monetary liquidity and do with it what you want!  You may want to start with at least three times the collateral in BTS to begin with.
