Stakeholder Proposals / Re: Proxy: xeroc
« on: March 12, 2016, 08:36:21 am »
Would you create an proposal to create an Ethereum Smartcoin?
Actually I would like to see all Top10 cryptos based on volume as Smartcoins on the DEX.
We need to position the DEX as a real alternative.

Technical Support / Re: Question from John Barrett

I'm trying to figure out the easiest way to put some BTS into cold storage.
Hi John, you can try this.

Technical Support / multiple questions, asked on slack

recently questions asked on slack.
please answer accordingly and add them to the docs if useful.

Assuming fees are activated, does the issuer pays fees every time he/she issues/transfers a quantity of the asset to another party, or only if trading the UIA on the open market?

There was reference to a “fee pool” apparently designated in the new UIA rather than BTS. Given that the idea of Market Fees is for the issuer to be able to generate profits from his or her UIA, I assume that the Issuer being able to pay the fees he/she sets from their own UIA, mitigates against the costs of having to buy BTS with cash or use existing BTS holdings that were acquired with cash (even if indirectly). However, if the market fees can be paid by the recipients using the same UIA, unless there is a provision for the Issuer to convert ONLY the received UIA designated fees to BTS, then the Issuer isn’t really generating “immediate FIAT LIQUIDATABLE profit”. Am I missing something here?

Assets FAQ seems to say that the “Issuer” can be changed after creation of the asset. Does this mean you can change the Issuer name to a completely new Issuer name, or just that if you have multiple wallets in your account with different names, you can change the issuer to be any one of the others (perhaps via a drop-down menu)? Secondly, can it be repeatedly changed or only one time?

It seems that this is automatically set in relation to BTS. However, I would prefer to have the core exchange rate tied to USD, because 99% of the persons I will be issuing my UIA to, are cryptovirgins, so to speak, and having to wrap their heads around a second digital currency (BTS), in order to get a clear sense of the set “exchange value” of my UIA, is undesirable. I do know I could promote a UIA/USD exchange rate/value in my one-on-one communications with the recipients, but it would be nice to be able to choose what currency (digital or FIAT) the exchange rate is tied to. I also know I can create a UIA “pegged” to USD but I do not want that type of “Market Pegged Asset”

If permissions is set ON requiring the issuer to approve all transfers, does this includes transfers effected via open market trading activity? I highly doubt it but I prefer to be 100% certain rather than 99%. Obviously, such approval is fine in the early life of a UIA, but becomes rather impractical at scale I would think.

Does this mean that a the issuer must be a third party facilitator in every transaction, receiving the funds from party A as being one separate completed transfer transaction, then forwarding them on to party B as a second separate transfer transaction? Or does it mean that a single transaction would be recorded as having three parties, A, B and Issuer in the middle? What kind of situation would make either of these a highly desirable way to operate?

I’m a bit foggy on this - is this about enforcing either a MINIMUM or a SPECIFIC exchange rate for any given trade between two parties trading in the issuer’s UIA?

Is there any serious downside to allowing confidential transactions (which I assume is this “stealth” feature I’ve read somewhere)?

9. Bonus question  :D
Since Bitshares the company also has to comply with government regulations I presume, does the system configuration at the highest level allow Bitshares itself to “Transfer any UIA back to Bitshares of Freeze or Delete any UIA (since it is Bitshares’ “system” that really GENERATED/CREATED each UIA and the “system” is a “higher authority”, than the lowly “user” who initiated the generation/creation of the UIA on the system)?

new format (again)

Most traders seem to be rather happy with centralized exchanges and are not ready to change just because there is decentralized alternative.
That`s why our exchange needs to evolve to something better than the centralized exchanges. decentralization is not a big seller.
Usability, assets, customization and especially secondary/connected & embedded financial services will be the real money-spinner.
BitShares needs to become a one-stop provider for all kinds of crypto financial services.

Maybe a universal Search Button would be even better. then we could get rid of the assets & accounts buttons
Type in what you want and it lists you all assets, accounts, transactions etc. that match in an easy and readable way.

Guess we should create a ETH MPA soon.

I really like this project.
However I can`t see anything why that is related to BitShares?
A ShapeShift Lens integration that obviously always has problems with BTS and BitUSD (not working) is not a BitShares integration.
I would really love to see you utilizing the BitShares blockchain with your Gold, Silver whatever Token.
And I would like to welcome and promote you as member of our ecosystem but without a clear relation to BTS I suggest you to post your updates anywhere but not in the BitShares General.

Trade -> Exchange
Transfer -> Send
Explorer -> Dashboard (put Explorer tools on top of the Dashboard)

Please provide the block number of your upgrade.
Please check,21618.0.html and,21163.0/all.html for references.

looking for a refund for the price i paid 4,000 BTS and discussing with Ronny who advised to create a topic so it can be solved
[member=23432]ccedk[/member] the "upgrade to annual member" feature has been disabled in GUI right now. What else do you want?

let me know why OpenLedger should need to pay for this cost and not the community? I would not mind if it helped but it is more a matter of principles than anything else, just like this issue itself.
You may put some warning near the Exchange button on OpenLedger and the wallet, that you are not responsible for any losses or errors that result from usage of this software. I guess lawyers would find easy ways to sue you for bigger losses because there is no evidence that you are not responsible for the software. And there are more legal stuff that should be put on but that`s just a tip and lawyers are expensive.

I`ve changed the misleading term investigation with research. Actually I really wasn`t aware that it is such a negative term.

[member=21099]lovejoy[/member] I mixed you up with roadscape, sorry. You! seem to be related to Compumatrix, because you have a 25% permission on the active key of compumatrix1 (issuer of Compuseeds?). Are you willing to tell us more about their/your business?

[member=23432]ccedk[/member] BitShares is a public ledger and you obviously can`t hide some things from its users (yes, you got it).
So I think it was just a matter of time until someone came up with this topic.
Sorry that it was me and sorry that I always express myself in such a impolite manner...

[member=6]Stan[/member] You do not say me or us on how and where to express our concerns!
There don`t have to be a Big Announcement about them. But zero communication lead to the point where we are now.
It`s only a "Big" or "Nothing" in your world, not in my.
And again you are talking about big numbers (115,000 new "potential" users) without any reason nor fact.
Even if I really like to read most of your posts, you are also one of the reasons why some of us are very cautious when something new hits the chain. And I think we also face a cultural/mentality issue here, because some people think it is not so important what they say until it is not a proven lie. While others take promises, statements and numbers very serious.

However, if some of you think all the shareholders will sit back and watch growing whatever there will come... you are wrong.

I can only speak for myself, but many of us paid a lot of money and time to be in this game and I believe as stakeholder it is important to screen carefully what happens in our ecosystem, in my very own financial and legal interest!

Meta / Re: Remove Partners Sections from Home
« on: March 02, 2016, 08:44:14 pm »
Everyone can claim to be a partner of BitShares no one can stop you from saying so.

However we did not remove the partner status of anyone because such a status just does not exist, yet.
If you want to become an approved BitShares partner do a representative stakeholder voting.
But if you just want a prominent place on the forum, then you have to deal with the forum users.
And they decided for now to have a clean forum without a misleading Partner section (including mostly inactive threads).
Else everyone could claim to be a partner that deserves a prominent spot on the forum too.

The decision was not made to make "Partners" cry or to blame anyone but just for a better and cleaner forum.
