I think you are doing a great job imparting a sense of community; It may be our individual investments on the line, but there are a lot of other people in the same boat with us. If we all pull together and keep a sense of good humor, then we have a much better chance of making it to that distant shore.

I'll look forward to reading your update every day. Your humorous anecdotes about your Chinese community are very entertaining, and somehow comforting.

Fully agree. Great job +1. reading that it feels more like a community united then two separate worlds!!

And I may add that they would be well inspired to have more presence in this very forum... I'm really enthusiast about the bitshares music idea, but currently I still use about 80% of my new investment funds to buy BTSX rather than notes. Advertising and communicating here more wouldn't hurt them...

Actually, to tell you the truth, it is starting to worry me all those important questions that are not being addressed about Music..

So plan A it is. PeerTracks needs to plug into SOMETHING and there is a lot of work left to be done there.

Is this work happening ?
Do you have developers outside of I3 team that could work on the backend(if not merged)  ?
Is there work in progress on the Front-end(PeerTracks) ?
It would be cool if some more information will be given on the status of development or some kind of timeline. This will reassure investor that there is a solid plan, etc, especially  important in pre-sale in my opinion.

General Discussion / Re: Marketing Direction - Why not How or What...

+5% Awesome post! We just need to work on conveying that message in a compelling way that gets publicity. Bitcoin spread because it let people stand FOR something. For the first time, we were able to opt-out of a system we no longer believed in. It was about opting out of an old, unfair system and joining a new, fair one. Selling the world on BitUSD is about a vision, a dream, a philosophy.

This + bitAssets =magic

General Discussion / Re: A new currency DAC - the future of Bitshares PTS
« on: October 26, 2014, 12:24:39 am »
Further to this post, the killer app in the crypto-space has always been and will always be one thing: currency. The Bitshares superDAC has attributes that make it poorly suited for use as a global currency including weak scarcity and suboptimal distribution.

Any cryptocurrency hoping to dethrone Bitcoin and ascend to become a global currency must be stable, predictable, fairly distributed, and non-inflationary. If you have any interest in PTS, join me in forking the Bitshares Toolkit and creating a new DPOS version of Bitshares PTS that launches using the November 5th snapshot.

Repeat after me: BTS is not a currency, BTS is not a currency, BTS is not a currency. The fact that BTS can be diluted is irrelevant, because BTS is not a currency. If people want a currency they should be using BitUSD, BitEUR, etc. The goal of a currency should be price stability (not too inflationary and not too deflationary). If you want an asset that isn't in the control of central banks you can even use BitGLD (even though that is not as stable in price).

I think BTS is well distributed enough to ensure that the BitShares DAC will become sufficiently decentralized and won't be in the hands of a tiny group of individuals that can be corrupted. It will become even more decentralized over time as the stake is distributed to more (new) hands. Either a BitCurrency, BitGLD, or maybe BitCPI on top of this superDAC will have the properties that you are looking for. You don't have to care about what the BTS stakeholders are deciding to spend their diluted BTS on.

That all said, you have every right to fork the BitShares toolkit and compete. So, good luck with that.
+1 +1

Muse/SoundDAC / Re: How can Notes pre-sale activity be improved?
« on: October 25, 2014, 11:08:03 pm »
Is it just me, or is the pre-sale activity for Notes surprisingly weak? I would've expected buying to ramp up by now given the interviews and the online banner ads on Coinmarketcap. I guess what we need is more word-of-mouth and awareness on Bitcoin-centric forums. Since pre-sale Notes cannot be purchased with altcoins, only with BTC, maybe Coinmarketcap is not the best place for banner ads. Maybe Bitcointalk would be better.

Being able to buy Notes at dirt-cheap prices right now is cool, but more buying would ultimately be better for AGS and PTS because that would give Peertracks more funds to work with. After all, the more BTC that Peertracks can raise now, the less likely they'll need to resort to dilution later to obtain funding.

So, AGS and PTS holders, this is a call to arms... we're the main stakeholders in this. We can help by buying Notes ourselves or spreading awareness on Bitcointalk and other Bitcoin forums. What we need is a sustained effort lasting through the pre-sale period. Let's pave the way for a successful Bitshares Music rocket-ride to the moon and beyond!

I agree. I think they should definitely promote on Bitcointalk. Also it will be helpful to have more updates from the Peertracks team, on a weekly  base.

General Discussion / Re: What is your Bitshares pitch?
« on: October 25, 2014, 05:02:06 pm »
Last night speaking with some friends they asked if I was still invested in bitcoin and how it's going. I haven't spoken to them in detail since February or march about crypto and I tried to update them on Bitshares and my belief in it. While attempting to give them the huge rundown, I started fumbling over concepts and explanations so I'm here asking if anyone has a well thought out concise list of topics you would pitch to someone that can be broken down and explained as needed. Maybe a bullet point list to cover.

As excited as I am I tried to explain DACs and Bitshares music and the exchange and market pegs which is too in depth for someone getting the pitch.

What is working for me to grab their attention (if they don't know nothing about crypto):

  • yield this is the magic word and is attention-grabber
  • bitUSD and gold you can have your own gold safely safe in vault that only you have the key and you get yield on it too, then talk about other interesting bitAssets like bitGoog, even if it does not exist yet but they will be intrigued by the possibility. I always like to give example like how easy is to send gold around the globe
  • don't try to explain how the peg is working at first, if they ask tell them that you'll explain once they understand the general idea

Of course if now they will want to know more, then you can go explain about how their money are protected by 200% collateral so are completely safe. Then I will explain bts and so on.

Music
  • I don't even talk about notes
  • money goes directly to the artist no middleman taking a cut. Everybody loves this
  • explain Artiscoin. This is a bit long but because music is easy to understand, usually, I manage to explain the full concept

I'm not sure what it is not unclear but what will happen, in Bithshare Music you'll have notesUSD.  But what is important to understand is that noteUSD will be pegged to the value of USD

Muse/SoundDAC / Re: Bitshares Music BitUSD != Bitshares BitUSD
« on: October 24, 2014, 07:24:02 pm »
lol... in the presale thread it was explained that you can buy bitUSD with Notes, so you can buy Artistcoin in the next step...

so what you are saying is that it will be another bitUSD? but i can buy Artistcoin with bitUSD which is being traded on bter

If both bitUSD's are pegged well and therefore fungible the exchanges might offer a bridge....but...your point is well taken. It would be a confusing nightmare.

However, I don't see why they couldn't be transfered back and forth via Bter. The biggest roadblock to fungible is perhaps that one is backed by BTS and another by NOTES.

Yes that why you probably need to name them differently. bitUSd, notesUSD, playUSD etc. It is still confusing ..
