General Discussion / Re: VOTE DAC Just Got More Interesting 2.0
« on: October 18, 2014, 02:24:07 pm »
I have a possible solution that wouldn't make BTSX-only investors angry or worried for its future value. Why does BitsharesVote even need bitUSD? In other words, what is the specific reason for Bitshares Vote to need bitUSD?

If there is anything inside the client that wanted to be priced in dollars, you could do so by having Delegates publish price feeds for USD and choosing the median. If you wanted you could put the amount of Vote coins in parentheses like... $1.99 US Dollars (289 Votes). Behind the scenes it converts the US dollar amount into Vote coins (or whatever they're called.)

Also... I thought Bitshares has been advertising that all DACs will be linked together and that you can use bitUSD in any other DAC. Is that not the case anymore or was it a misunderstanding? As in each DAC can have their own bitUSD, but they won't be linked.

IMO splitting up the liquidity and volume of the bitUSD market is a mistake. It is already bad enough.

The reason to have bitUSD is the same like in Music. If you have an account open and you put 10 dollars that are converted in Notes, the problem is NOTES fluctuates so 1 month later his 10 dollars in his account are not anymore 10 $. So every chain absolutely needs bitUSD(or bitCurrency) if not we go back to original problem : stability.

One solution maybe the Bitmeat proposal every chain will mint bitCurrency  basically automatically not trading involved.
BitshareX will  still be use as a trading platform, everybody will use that platform for paying employee merchants and so on it will still grow at the same pace like before.
The AltDACS will use their own bitCurrencys for paying DAC expenses and offer the stability of bitUSD but nobody will keep money in VOTES . One more benefit having bitCurrency is the cross trading will be possible.

BitshareX will remain exactly what is is now. You Virtual Bank and Exchange and Forex all other DAC will be just businesses that use bitUSD. You don't go to Wallmart for you mortgage do you ?

Please don't reveal any details. I urge you to keep the secret sauce SECRET until it is ready to be released. There are a lots of ideas that are coming from this forum and now they are used by others and 0 credit given.
Bitshare toolkit is opensource so anybody can do whatever they please with it and this is perfect, but this is enough. There's too much information and ideas discussed publicly already that should not be reveal until they are done.

It is very clear that BitsareX will continue to be developed at full speed. I don't even know where the idea came that development will slow.
Actually if Bytemaster will work to Vote in parallel this is good. The fundamentals ideas of BitshareX are done, the peg is working the rules of trading are final now. What is left be done it is a lot of development a lots of coding , wallet, light wallet, trading software, marketing. This is important but you don't need Bytmaster for that...ohh by the way he's not leaving he'll surely make sure that Bitshare will be whatever everyone here and himself wanted to be.
Please people, the whole thing here exist because of Bytemaster idea and he delivered, so if the guy is saying that it is worth working in parallel for something that could be bigger than Bitshare X ... then what the hell are you arguing about ? What all of you want is Bytemaster to be a leader not a coder, but already you know he'll do both.
Please stop putting  pressure to reveal any more information until is to late, we shoot ourselves in the foot here just putting all our strategy in plain view.

after the fundraising. when do you expect to have the first client? do you working already on it??

That is a good question ? Eddie said something about February 2015 is this still valid ?
As I understand Bitsapphire will be developing the front end (PeerTrack) site but I also would like to know who's gonna be developing the back-end (Bitshare Music) ? Is there a estimation for how much work and time will take for adapting Bitshare Toolkit too work ?

Random Discussion / Re: Bitusd or BTSx?
« on: October 17, 2014, 06:36:23 pm »
If you think that btsx will continue to fall buy bitUsd of course you'll have some yield too . I don't see why you'd buy BTC ,..if you wanna diversify buy bitBTC. You don't need to use any exchange except BitshareX for all that that.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions, I've already made a few changes as a result.

 - Background has been blurred to make the headline clearer.
 - Working on minifying the CSS and images.
 - Working on the "read more" pages for each of the 5 bullet points.
 - I'll be adding a "Learn more." section under "Find an exchange." with tutorials and the BitShares X whitepaper.
 - If there is sufficient demand I'll be adding Chinese and Spanish translations.

Quote
BitUSD is Bitcoin with the stability of real USD
does rather assume that the USD will remain stable, which given the state of economy and stockmarket atm might be a gamble.

I think it's a good thing people are aware BitUSD is only as stable as real USD.

1 - at "Private" section - would it be better to use some picture less resemblant to a "mafia crook"?

Good point. I was thinking it looked like a spy but I suppose people could see it as a crook.

3 - in both sections "Secure" and "Decentralised" are focused on protection from government. I would leave the government reference just to one of them... And, as bitUSD is designed for mainstream, is it worth to also emphasise protection against hacking?

I've been thinking about ways to word this... maybe I'll just include it in the read more section.

I quite like the site, good job, but it's surprisingly slow to load.

I'll fix that up next week. :)

+1 you rock !!

I must have missed something. Are these guys honoring the BitShares Social Consensus? No? With all due respect to Fuzz and all your wonderful, unsung efforts to improve this world, if Cinni is walking off with this technology without thanking this community, then screw 'em. There are times to be touchy-feely-friendly and cooperate with other coin communities. And there are times to stand up for this community and demand greater respect.

Two choices, Cinni:
(1) Drop 10%+ each on AGS and PTS holders, honoring the BitShares Social Consensus and respecting the developers/investors who have put in their time, money, and determination to help build this toolkit.

OR

(2) Float your coin as an asset on the BitShares X chain.

You do neither, then I don't care if you're using DPoS. You're not a part of BitShares and you don't deserve any help with your shitcoin from us. That's not me being selfish or nasty. That's me standing up for this community, which I think deserves real respect from you.

They are honoring the social consensus: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=573232.msg9202557#msg9202557
There's your answer. (caveat: he seems to have made a math error and his exact numbers need to be corrected to hit 10%/10%, but I think that was just oversight.)

To all the rest of the angry BitShares people who have been so hostile towards Cinni, please think about what you're doing! Whether Cinni turns out to be innovative or not, it is pioneering the process of forking BitShares and doing it exactly right: they're honoring the social consensus. If the very first consensus-honoring BitShares fork is turned away with tribalistic sneers and jeers and allegations of "scam" and "shitcoin," why do you think any other dev would waste his or her time honoring the social consensus?

Cinni is setting an important precedent for BitShares forks: Honor the Social Consensus.

BitShares community, Please do not set a precedent of hostility towards coins that freely offer to honor the social consensus!

Spot on, however I think it is important for the Bishare forks developers to get the support of the community, therefore Fuzz idea to invite him on the hangout.

Did not know that all the  talk and information about this coin is on bitcointalk.org so I retract my earlier comments regarding no information and vaporware. Did he mention somewhere in this forum that we can find all the details on bitcointalk.org ?
For the rest I don't think is too much to ask from a developer to clearly show how his  DAC will function and if he has a business plan .  Also If there are any false claims there is nothing wrong if they are pointed out claims such as "CinniCoin is #35 on coinmarketcap generating a market cap of over $600,000".
Just to clarify it is true that Bitshare was never forked, but the Social contract was already honored by FreeTrade with Lottoshares.

It's kind of like going to Bruce Lee for his advice on how to start your own Dojo...it is not only a perfect way to do it right the first time, but an inspiration to look up to someone of such Giant Stature.

You had me at Bruce Lee !!! I agree, want I'm saying is would be cool to have more info, some kind of white paper if not at list a business model, the he can go to the master :)  And yes you right about the clone for sure they are coming and they are welcome too, although I don't really see the point right know to make a clone of BitshareX. There are so many originally idea that a dev could do with the Bithsare Toolkit like i.e Bitshares Ebay I'm pretty sure such a project will just get all the support right from the beginning.

And who are you ? Cinni's multi account, aka Cinni himself ?

Oh my god ! you got me now. Respect man you so clever  :o

PS
Shame that Bitshare forum has also so intolerant and  short-sighted members.
Fortunately that's very small minority.

They are not intolerant I fully agree with inarizushi and your did not address this false claim :

Currently, CinniCoin is #35 on coinmarketcap generating a market cap of over $600,000.

But don't bother even if is true it does not mean anything like Testz pointed out
Until Cinnidev show us a solid plan and a business model for his DAC, there is no point on wasting Daniel time on talk about  altcoins and vaporware. By the way I was there in that Dev Hangout with Cinnidev ... but guess what he did't have a mic.....

Ohh and to be clear I'm not implying that Cinnidev does not have a solid plan, but for now there is nothing there but a vague idea that sounds like an altcoin or like kind of BitshareX clone.  Until there is something more to show, don't expect the forum to give this altcoin love. And please do verify what you are saying  before posting false claims.

Muse/SoundDAC / Re: BitShares Music and/or NOTE logo. Any ideas?
« on: October 15, 2014, 09:00:13 pm »

Indeed but pls within the Bitshares ecosystem … this would be nice

yours are my favorite so far.

I used to pay for LastFM about 3$ a month, and that was ok this as high that I will pay a month. I will never pay 10$ to Spotify that is for sure, heck it cost more than Netflix. I know your 10$/ month  was just an example but I think it is to much.
Please be Netflix don't be Blockbuster

So you can earn interest if you hold bitUSD?

This is one of BitSharesX's biggest features!

The exchange is not paying for rent, an HR department, health plans for employees, and all the other stuff that goes into running a traditional company. The fees collected from transactions can be paid back to the holders of the asset as a yield.

And if there are more transactions the yield will be higher. So more BitshareX is used the more yield you potentially earn, also it should be noted that the yield it is not the same for all the bitAssets

This is slightly off topic. A few years ago I bough a AeroGarde system I think it was this one http://www.aerogarden.com/aerogardens/aerogarden-spacesaver-6/aerogarden-spacesaver-6-black-1.html , and one of the problem I had with this system was the light. This think it on like  16 hours a day or so. It is alright if you have a  house and you grow it in the basement, and never see it. But if you leave in apartment the light it just too much, it did bother me a lot not only at night. even during the day. It is non the most pleasant of lights either. I mange to grow some stuff on it but after a few month I gave up because of that and I know I'm not the only one that stop using the system because of that. So it will be good if  your grow systems will have some kind of blinds(maybe optional) or something to block the light. Just my 2 larimer !!

It's funny how some people seem to think I take some sort of pleasure in this, I don't.

A little bit of tact goes a long way in how our writings are perceived/interpreted.

Agree that's my main problem with Adam.  He shoot first then ask later.
I'll be shocked if he would do it any different.
