General Discussion / Re: Profits, Performance, Trust & Efficiency

If Bitshares x could reach that kind of speed for validating transaction will be amazing and it is worth taking in consideration.

The problems I see :

- No more decentralized
- One trustee one point of failure, the DDOS attack will be hard to prevent

Quote
If trustee is compromised or shutdown, shareholders can elect a new trustee by broadcasting their vote.
Once a new trustee has 51% of the shareholders support the network continues.

Not clear. How long it takes the voting process , meanwhile all transactions are stooped ?  Can you elaborate more on the voting process ?

I think it is important that the white papers are prominently displayed on the website. It seems to me that a lot of people interested in bitshares primarily do not understand the concept and it takes too much searching for them to understand how it is achievable from a technical standpoint. In terms of marketing to the bitcoin community, it needs to be made evident why tapos is better than pow, in the same way that the website clearly explains why bitshares conceptually is better than bitcoin or traditional banks. I really think that major part of the problem with bitshares marketing is that people still think the concept is either a scam or delusional. It is just as important to market the lower level concepts as it is to market the higher level ones. There is good content on the website, but none of the content really explains how bitshares DAC's work.

I agree. I think they are working on it : https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=3837.msg48147#msg48147

88888888  is better suited for Bitshare Lotto !!

How this will affect Bitshare X  ?

I'm thinking that it gives more power to BitAssets because as they are not fluctuating like bitcoins there is no capital losses or gains. So the merchant could use that and it pretty save. But this is not the same with the bitshares themselves.

"The rules provide clarity for those investing in Bitcoin and were welcomed by attendees at a conference on virtual currencies in San Francisco."

But still  not convince this is good news  ! Need to hear a financial US expert on that. Like what is the effect on business like Coinbase ?

Not familiar either. But one thing is for sure the price will drop big time at least until is more clear if is good or bad. Hope I'm wrong tough !!!

That's not a fair poll. You should include Keyhotee as an option too

DAC PLAY / Re: BitShares Gambling
« on: March 24, 2014, 09:56:56 pm »
In the spirit of DAC "families", the parent forum here might be better titled BitShares Gambling.

Gambling would include BitShares Lotto.  It would also include BitShares Bingo AND BitShares Vegas  (I.e. BitShares Sports Betting, BitShares Political Betting, BitShares Blockchain Betting, etc, etc..); and any other Gambling DACs.

Thoughts?

BitShares Vegas ? Any detail to share on that one ?

This site is going under ACTIVE edits... THIS IS NOT THE FINAL CONTENT....

We have a change list that is a mile long and will be improving the content dramatically.

Yes my post wasn't meant to be critical at all on the contrary, just wanted to show a point from someone outside the community.
Personally I think the site it is really great, I really love it. Brian did an amazing job.

BitShares does for business what bitcoin does for money is cool, but it has flaws.  Bitcoin is inherently flawed as money, and I don't think we want to imply that.   Let's have a small bounty to propose new motto. Thoughts?

Bitcoin is a financial revolution. Bitcoin challenge the financial system and a lots more to be said about. Bitshares only exist because of bitcoin. So to me "BitShares does for business what bitcoin does for money" it is very good in fact I think it is brilliant.

From reddit. I think for us here it is very clear and nice but here are a view for a reddit guy. I think he has a few good points there :
"The website makes absolutely no sense to me. I haven't a clue what Bitshares is.
According to the video, it gets rid of desks, rent, utilities, salaries and equipment and pays all of the money saved to shareholders. And it allows you to transfer shares for free but only for digital companies which exist entirely in software (which don't yet exist).
The best explanation of what bitshares is is hidden on the FAQ page:
BitShares is a free open source software platform that can be used to launch Distributed Autonomous Companies (DAC).
Ok, so where is this open source platform? Or is BitShares a company, it seems to be employing people.
So your website claims BitShares is an open source platform, things you can trade like shares, a digital autonomous company and also a regular company? I'm confused.
Overall opinion: lots of words that mean very little and claim to make lots of money. Is it a scam: no, they aren't asking for my money. Is it an advertisment: no, it's open source. I have literally no idea what the point of this website is other than a design exercise for The Creative momentum"

Selling Bitshares to buy mining hardware seems to be pointless if PoS can secure the network. I thought Bytemaster was going with Ripple consensus and if that is the case why do we need mining via PoW at all?

Unfortunately he's not going with Ripple consensus anymore. He mention that he'll maybe look in to it for the next Dac's witch I hope he does !! In the meantime we are stuck with mining and all the problems drltc mentioned.

We're just getting started.  These are the things I've been working on behind the scene for months.  Oh, and Bloomberg's tech reporter called me again today, she just can't get enough of BitShares. I guess she's got a fever and the only prescription is.....oh nevermind.  :D  B

Fantastic !!!! Happy to see your work coming together !!!
