Come on stan

Yesterday you said "we might do both" and today you said

Quote
"We found that it did not work well in most cases and only led frustration and disappointment on all sides.  We decided to try a more traditional approach of vetting and hiring people or companies with a proven track record and spending extra time to carefully define the requirements.  While we will still use bounties for smaller jobs, we are not interested at all in making much bigger bounties where there is an even bigger disappointment for everyone at the end."

That sure looks like a no.  Do you regularly say you are not interested at all in things you might later say yes to?   Is there any wonder why things are so unclear?

I am restricting my posts to you on single topic issues since you are so difficult to pin down even when your own words, from today, are staring you right in the face

Adam let me point you up something but in a less aggressive manner that you acting in the last few days did you really missed  that part ?:

Most of our leadership team is at the conference and we haven't had time to get together and discuss it.

Let me know I can put it in red for you....

Invictus has said many times that what sets apart their platform from others, is good economics and a focus on profit.  It is with that in mind that I present the DAC War of Profit (working title).   A year from being announced, the first prize will be awarded to the DAC that achieves the greatest aggregate profitability for its token holders over a 30 day period of time compared to all other qualifying DACs.

The DACs must operate in the invictus ecosystem (must honor PTS at least, and must also honor AGS if they receive any funds via the Sharktank or other mechanisms)

Once the first prize has been awarded, the process repeats every six months with prizes according to the schedule below.  This prize schedule seeks to give people time to build and develop profitable dacs following the Invictus model before requiring judgement to be made on who is successful.  The entire invictus ecosystem wins since all competitors are competing to make profit for token holders, among whom Invictus is the largest.

Most Profitable DAC Awards - 100,000PTS over 5  years, represents less than 10% of AGS funds.

10,000PTS - 12mo
25,000PTS - 18mo
20,000PTS - 24mo
15,000PTS - 30mo
12,500PTS - 36mo
10,000PTS - 42mo
5,000PTS - 48mo
2,500PTS - 54mo

The keys controlling these funds should be held by a large number of trusted community advisors, not less than 10 and 20+ would be better with a 70% threshold required to release.    Key Holders should be selected based on their ability to look at objective situations rather than what they stand to personally gain or wish to be true.

It would be ideal if the same DAC could not win more than once.

I don't believe Bitshares products should qualify for this competition as Invictus is drawing all employee salaries and costs from these funds already.  That would be like paying someone to compete in your contest for the prize, makes zero sense.  If employees want to in their spare time work on a non-Bitshares project thats fine, it grows the ecosystem.  I would argue the community has already paid very well for Bitshares.

I do not want power in this process, I want the rules to be set once and never changed again.   I want development teams to be able to look at the landscape and say "If I build for Invictus, I can shoot for that prize and compound my success".   This is not mutually exclusive of any other plan, but is neccesary in addition to whatever else is done.   Please ask questions or comment as appropriate.
Finally some constructive stuff instead off all this accusations I think this is the best way to make progress. Let see what the community thinks. I agree with this model.

General Discussion / Re: On Marketing and Priorities
« on: March 03, 2014, 01:32:32 am »
We had a bitcoin meetup yesterday in napa, had 9 people show up.  Every person there knew about Ethereum, NXT, and Mastercoin.  Four of them knew about Counterparty, one knew about eMunie.    None of them knew about Protoshares, Bitshares or Invictus innovations.   When I explained to them about the bitshare snapshot they were all interested but unfortunately they didn't know about it, seven of them were LTB listeners

Counterparty launched their blog yesterday (that is, a protocol that raised no money and has no paid staff, but does have a working distributed asset exchange, distributed betting etc) and announced their medium-term security audit and protocol upgrade strategy.  I would really encourage invictus to emulate them ASAP and get at least a temporary blog up that can be the central repository for the most important information every invictus investor/donor should know.   I also believe it should be the marketing director Brian who should be doing most of the on-camera press, blogging and evangelizing.  Daniels time is very valuable and he is not well suited for the role of spokesman.

I am a fan of conferences when you need to make deals happen or need money, but if the goal is to "get the word out" I can't see any potential reason why going to the texas event should be more important than crafting a strategy to address the tens of thousands of people who are predisposed to being interested in Invictus's products but have never heard of them because there has been almost zero web outreach and the web presence for invictus continues to be insufficient to educate or inform all but the most dedicated and non-time-constrained supporters.    Invictus does not need money and they don't need thought leadership, which is the reason to give a talk - they need to deliver on a media strategy and deliver on their products.

As they say, you don't starve - you drown.  I'm a huge invictus supporter and think the vision is right on but execution has been lacking and communication/marketing abysmal.  Please prioritize so I can stop complaining.
I have to agree. You thing the upcoming website it is to late ?

General Discussion / Re: GET YOUR BTS XT Wallet Here!
« on: March 01, 2014, 09:16:46 pm »

I guess my understanding was that after the snapshot PTS would become BTS so the old PTS would basically be worthless/removed after being replaced with BTS - this would be very clear and easy to understand.  But what we have now to me is somewhat confusing to both existing investors and potential investors and confusion is not desirable if you are running what amounts to an investment fund.

If someone wants to invest in PTS now (post snapshot), what should they do or why would they invest?  They've missed the benefit of getting in "pre-snapshot" but are unable to buy any new "post snapshot" BTS because they are not available on any exchange nor are there any wallets to store them.   What should a new investor do from this point, should they buy "post snapshot" PTS on an exchange at the now deflated price without knowing how/when those be converted into BTS or wait until BTS is "ready"?

The "pre-snapshot" PTS and AGS gave investors share in BTS, as  this is the first DAC developed by Invictus.  PTS and AGS they are not transforming in BTS they still have a lot of value, as they will give you shares in all the new DAC Invictus  (and 3 parties developers that respect the social contract) are developing(Bitshare Dns, Bitshare Music, Bitshare Votes, etc)  please see this post here: https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=2940.0 or  this video here http://vimeo.com/user24356268/review/87448377/66716b27fa . The reason to invest  in PTS or AGS now it will be to get share in all the upcoming  chains DAC.

So If you acquire PTS or AGS now they will not give you any BTS .

As a investor if you are only interested in BTS-XT you should wait  until the BTS-XT share are out so you can buy them. Why would you be interested to buy BTS ? Well one of the reason is that all the future  product line of decentralized banks and exchanges will be  be initialized with a snapshot (100%) of the state of BitShares XT around the time of their launch. So what that means is let say if you have 10 BTSXT in your wallet and a new decentralized bank  it coming out  e.g. BitShares XI, you'll have 10 BTXI in the new bank.

- PTS&AGS will give you share in every new line of chains developed in the future. New line of chains meaning it a completely new kind of DAC (Bitshare Dns, Bitshare Music, Bitshare Votes, etc)

-BTSXT - Will give you share in all the new bank and exchanges that are developed base on the line of chain of  Bitshare-XT ( Bitshares XI, Bitshare XV , Bitshare XC, etc)

For the rest we already agree that as is it now it is not easy for a newbie to find and understand all the development that is happening. But I know there is a big marketing push in the planing, witch will come once the Bitshare-XT chains it working and stable. And let not forget there will be a new website that hopefully will be the one place to get all the information that you need please see : https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=2927.msg37501#msg37501

General Discussion / Re: GET YOUR BTS XT Wallet Here!
« on: March 01, 2014, 07:05:22 pm »
I think the negative feedback stems from the fact that investors' money is currently in "limbo" without being forewarned of this fact (at least I didn't get the memo that there would be no wallet "for awhile").

So our current holdings of PTS are not worth anything in its former version "PTS" but there is no wallet ready to enable those funds to be transferred to the new version of BTS XT, which means we just have to sit on our hands and wait until (hopefully) a third party comes along and produces a wallet?

I guess I was under the impression that after the snapshot date, our funds would be credited to a new crypto currency that we could then trade/liquidate on the exchanges just like before.  Instead, it seems like our funds are trapped and awaiting a "third party".  What did I miss in the initial explanation or am I misunderstanding something?

If I did miss something, you have to understand for newbies, we might not have read through the thousands of forum pages to figure out WTF is going on.  I think there needs to be more clarity from ProtoShares communication desks so instead of a lengthy forum page that we have to weed through to find the facts, some simple and clear explanations on their home page or some centralized communication source would be helpful.

So, now that I have PTS sitting in my wallet, what exactly do I have?  A claim for some new and improved BitShares that currently have no wallet, no exchangeable value, and no actual DAC or any functional benefit whatsoever but a long list of promises?  I am fine with speculating on the future potential of ProtoShares, every crypto I own is a speculation on the future, but I don't remember reading about how my funds would just sit there indefinitely for a month or more until some unknown third parties come up with something valuable to offer to the marketplace.

At least with Dogecoin I can sell it tomorrow if I decide the speculation is not worth the risk.  Seems this option is unavailable with PTS/BTS.  If this potential lack of liquidity was explained before the snapshot, where was this info posted?

The snapshot was taken in 28 that all, there is no wallet and they never promise one on 28. They always stated that the Bts-x chain will be release at the earliest  on 15 of March please read the February newsletter https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?action=post;topic=3291.15;last_msg=41778
Buying PTS or AGS you invested on a idea so you are a earlier investor and yes for now you can not trade the BTS-X for now If you wanted to make a quick buck well you'll have to be patient.
You right about finding information on the website and forum, it's not easy, but that about to change there will be a new website on March 24 and will have everything in one place. 3I it is a 3 month old company, and they are trying hard to do as much as they can, finding developers, marketing campaign, making investors happy, developing keyhotee & BTS-X, etc. Yes not everything it's perfect and there is a lot to be done, but they need our support and our trust especially if you believe the vision behind Invictus. If not you can go with Dogecoin vision.
The PTS yes they lost a lot of value but this is was to be expected, and that should not come as a surprise for anybody. PTS will rise sooner or later. And not sure if you understand that part but now if you want, you can sell you PTS no problem it will not affect your BTS-X holding.

Thanks for part of the answer guys.

This is why there is not more support for PTS, and no big jump in price before the snapshot, it is just too much work to figure out what is going on.

There are also lots of unanswered questions about todays event on the Reddit thread.

An official post with clear instructions both here and at reddit would be appropriate and is expected.

good to know i'm not the only one wondering where these magical BTS X shares come from or go to, or what is going on with this, besides the prices of PTS dropping by half.

if i understand this correctly, nothing about where i am to receive these new shares has been released yet?  or did i miss that part?  I've been trying to figure this whole PTS/BTS/BTS-X thing out, and still dont have a clear understanding.  I imagine i am not alone in this cluelessness.
No the BTS-X wallet it is not release yet. So for know you have nothing to do, the wallet will be out at the earliest on 15 of March.
