If the blockchain can't sync, then you're sol. Sorry, wish I had better news. That little red x down there means that your phone is unable to connect to one of the Bitshares public nodes. Also, Android 5.0 (Lollipop) or higher is recommended.

The wallet talks TCP right ?

I think @xeroc or @svk might know what's up.

https://forum.bitsquare.io/t/target-tor-users-and-torproject-itself-bash-cloudflare-btc-sites/473

This is something that I have raised around here repeatedly. For those of you that are not aware, the forum itself runs behind cloudflare (which for me and other tor users, means solving endless captchas / training some google artificial intelligence to better recognize me).

Well worth a read, if you don't really understand what's happening behind the scenes when visiting a cloudflare-"protected" site.

p.s: Cloudflare is an American company

Steem is for announcements and fun, the Forum for real work.

That's not the purpose of Steemit. It gives people a voice without being afraid of getting censored by the government or other parties.

In theory.

Already users can be flagged down and made invisible (fair enough to combat the spammers, I guess).

There are also talks by certain prominent users about flagging "offensive" content.

That it is all stored on the blockchain and that being censorship-resistant is all fine, but the reality is that steemit.com will always be the main "gateway" to the data on the STEEM blockchain, "nocensorit.com" would take off only for a minority of users, to the extent that it wouldn't really matter..

There is not that much to talk about now.

The product is stable.  No new features are being added other than maybe stealth at some point.  Not really any new projects.

Personally I think steem is just a giant circle jerk of people that post shit content in the hopes of getting upvoted by a whale.  The people that are making money are usually chicks who post half naked pictures while useful post get completely buried by crap.

The whole scheme of making money to like posts on the internet is extremely shady to me.  The pump was also a giant just a manipulation of CMC.

It is stable, sure, but I can see so much more innovation!

Stop-loss and stop-profit orders for instance, really high on my books.

STEALTH is coming.

We still need to recruit a network of global entrepreneurs and expand the fiat gateways that are available.

Marketing (online and offline) could be improved A LOT.

Just some items out of the top of my head!

@Chris4210, would you elaborate on how many people are working on this, what their past (relevant) experience is, and a rough estimate of when the work might be done?

Personally I think this is one of the big missing features with bitshares, and I am really excited to see it moving forward once again !!

Smartcoins Wallet v1.0.5 released on F-Droid:
https://f-droid.org/repository/browse/?fdfilter=smartcoins&fdid=de.bitsharesmunich.smartcoinswallet

@kenCode

Awesome!!

I wish I had better news, but I installed the app, and when creating an account, a red X with a circle around it is all that ever happens.. I waited about 10 mins before giving up.

I am proxying through Tor (it's me, after all) - does the wallet connect to any endpoints "protected" by the horrid cloudflare? That will break functionality, as cloudflare throws a captcha, and the app has no clue .. happens with the default configuration for copay and greenaddress, for instance ..

While I like steemit as much as the next person over here, something has been concerning me as of late, and that is how fewer people appear to be posting fewer posts .. meanwhile if we look at steemit, we are all active there  ???

I wrote my opinion about this phenomenon .. it's not meant to be a controversial post, though I can see how some will see it that way ..

Good point.

Would you mind registering at the bitsquare forum and voicing that point of view?

The next chapter will touch on using smartcoins instead of sending funds to a bank account.

Unfortunately I think I will have to limit the scope of that chapter to bitUSD and bitCNY, because of the price feed issue currently present in bitsquare for other smartcoins (see https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php/topic,23011.msg297740.html#msg297740)

Anyhow, don't expect the next chapter until a week from now (at least), I'll see if we can get the bitsquare feed thing sorted out first, because I would really like to appeal to people's national currencies instead of generic USD (why bitUSD when you have SteemUSD, steemians will ask) and CNY (I suspect all/most the chinese over at steemit already know about bitCNY .. :))

Thanks. BTW, we are trying to promote the lottery to the whole BTS community. Welcome to have a try. +5%

I don't always gamble, but when I do, it's blackjack  :P

Price feeds are defined with respect to BTS, but you could use the feed for BTC to convert the others to be with respect to BTC.

That seems to be the best solution imo.

The best solution would  be to convince some trusted party, like ccedk, to set up an escrow service right in openledger for peer2peer exchange between bitshares assets and out of chain assets.

I believe you are still grossly misunderstanding the situation.

If that's how it's done internally (in the DEX), then for sure that's what should be replicated to obtain the correct price feeds (in bitsquare).

If I understood you correctly, the (for instance) bitNZD:bitBTC price feed "goes through" BTS/BTC ?
