Can anyone try sending email to 6wUh29dW6Uokki8KRwnMs7t4Q1VULcunLJRtM1kH5A1qJsNvtL which is my public key. Or are only founders able to use the mail system right now?

After running the client for several minutes I still have 0 connections and this is repeatedly printed to console

Code: [Select]

1926762ms asio       asio.cpp:53                   error_handler        ] Connection refused
1926762ms th_a       application.cpp:106           connect_loop         ] unspecified
Connection refused
    {"message":"Connection refused"}
    asio  asio.cpp:55 error_handler
error connecting to 162.243.67.4:9876
    {"ep":"162.243.67.4:9876"}
    th_a  connection.cpp:194 connect
unable to connect to 162.243.67.4:9876
    {"ep":"162.243.67.4:9876"}

Is this because I am behind a NAT layer and I dont have any port forwarding configured?

So far as I understand he wants a client that is able to create transactions without generating change addresses. This will keep account balances cleaner. And it will make counting ones shares easier. Am I right?

General Discussion / Re: militia DAC

I think we should be clear about what we want. The discussion of prediction markets is very interesting and our technology is enabling others to build products which can do this. I am all about free speech. Nobody is being aggressive towards anybody. I hope we are all agreeing to be responsible to discuss these issues.

A prediction market on life expectancy is not quite the same as what a militia would do. A militia could partially serve to protect a community or some private assets. How is this accomplished by a prediction market?

General Discussion / Re: BitShares Status Update

I am not understanding number 8

8) AGS and PTS will be used to initialize all BTS chains each trading in a subset of assets.  Therefore, AGS and PTS is more valuable than owning a single BTS chain.  They get you rights to all chains.

Could someone please explain this or point me to a thread that explains this.

Thanks

I think this works because every BitShares-chain is a separate DAC which will stick to the social contract and give shares to AGS and PTS holders.

Technical Support / Re: Hi, a couple questions
« on: January 03, 2014, 04:19:07 pm »
Hello forum,

Trying to figure out PTS... can I just buy some from an exchange or do I have to mine them? What if I'm not particularly interested in mining, can I just buy a few and hold them?

Can you tell me what exchanges could be used for swapping btc for pts?

Do I understand correctly (I'm at work so cannot read through this forum properly right now to understand but...)

Buying a pts gives you a share in a DAC. All DACS? Or just DACS associated with a specific block.... or what?

Thanks for your patience with my silly questions.

Hi Supermalt,

Good to hear your interest. Yes, it is true that acquiring PTS gives you a future stake in all DACs which are honoring Invictus' social contract. For now, there are not many DACs, but the idea is there will be. MemoryCoin 2.0 is one such DAC which all protoshares holders benefited from.

If you want to buy PTS you can do so through an exchange like bter.com. The PTS you hold in your personal wallet at a new DACs startup will be counted to create your share in it.

Technical Support / Re: OSX wallet not loading
« on: January 03, 2014, 06:29:21 am »
Welcome to the forum yellowecho,

Have you tried the solution mentioned by toast. This is also an OSX client which keeps crashing.

If you have not done this. Make sure to keep a backup of the wallet.

MemoryCoin / Re: voting uncertainties

When I have a balance of 10 MMC and send 1 satoshi to a voting address, all my funds will be moved to an exchange address.

To make my balance count for the vote, do I have to move them back? How does that work? That would be a pain to explain voters.

I've recieved 10-15 votes already for my candidatures but even after 24h it wont show up above the 10% Droop Quota.

Which block will set the winners?

Every 20th block recounts teh votes.
This means whoever has voted you has a very low balance, possibly one person voting multiple times.
This makes me think. I voted for donschoe and donschoe can send me MMC. This would strengthen his vote. In general,candidates could buy more votes by giving their voters MMC. Am I right so far?
Technically, but they could also send MMC to themselves and vote for themselves.
Yes, it would be a bit crazy otherwise when bribes are embedded in the system.

Did you send to an address that you keep a wallet to? Why cant you find your wallet address? What platform are you working on?

Is it worth making me a global mod so that I can move threads into tech support?

https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=1902.0
What happens when you move a thread? Does the user get any notification or PM?

If you need someone else to do this I am willing to volunteer to move threads.
