Stakeholder Proposals / Re: Tips for getting into Top 101
« on: September 23, 2014, 07:23:19 pm »
Thanks alec for the input.

Currently my payrate is set at 75%.  Once I get an idea of any earnings I would receive, I plan to lower this.  I'm not in this to make money.  Any earnings would go to 2 things.  One is running my delegate.  The other would be introducing new users to Bitshares.  I find the best way to get people involved is to give them an amount of Bitshares, get them setup with a wallet and show them how everything works.  I currently have given funds of my own to co-workers, and the response has been great.  Many of them have bought more Bitshares themselves, going from USD to BTC to BTSX.  At first this seems daunting to people but once everything is setup the process is much easier.

I currently do run alt's price feed script.  I notice that it doesn't show that I am publishing feeds from the GUI...does it only show this if you are an active delegate?

Thanks for the ideas.  I've setup an account on beyondbitcoinx.  I keep both my active and standby machines up to date.  I try to get involved as much as I can on the forums.

That is an interesting note about standby delegates.  I was thinking about that myself, there needs to be some incentive for standby delegates to continue running them.  I currently pay for the hosting, but eventually will be unable to unless I am able to start producing blocks.

Stakeholder Proposals / Tips for getting into Top 101
« on: September 16, 2014, 02:31:58 pm »
Does anyone have any tips for getting into the top 101?  I have been running a delegate for a while now but have yet to make it.  Unfortunately I don't have a lot of time to participate in all of the discussions on the forums.  But I do read through them everyday, stay current on updates and provide a stable delegate.  I currently have a hosted VPS that I have used for a while.  I have also created a backup server in a different location in case it would ever go down, and have email alerts setup to monitor if it does.

If you have any tips or questions about me or my background I would be glad to answer!

General Discussion / Re: win gui 0.4.15-a unusable

Does anyone know if this is being worked on?  Are we the only ones with the issue?  I'd rather not have to switch between 64-bit/32-bit just to get it to work.

I just installed the latest 64bit windows client.  This has fixed the display issues I was having. :)

I don't see a 64-bit version on Github.  Where did you download from?

Technical Support / Unable to build on VPS with 2GB memory
« on: September 13, 2014, 12:10:07 am »
I recently setup a VPS with 2GB of memory, but when trying to build I am getting this error:

[ 67%] Building CXX object libraries/blockchain/CMakeFiles/bts_blockchain.dir/chain_database.cpp.o
virtual memory exhausted: Cannot allocate memory
make[2]: *** [libraries/blockchain/CMakeFiles/bts_blockchain.dir/chain_database.cpp.o] Error 1
make[1]: *** [libraries/blockchain/CMakeFiles/bts_blockchain.dir/all] Error 2
make: *** [all] Error 2

Is there any way around this?  Or is the only solution to up the memory?

In another post BM said he's up 1.000.000 BTSX. So his order must have got filled.

Maybe he's not sure about putting in a new short.

Edit: or buy

Nope... we just identified a potential bug and thought it would be better to halt trading than allow the market to do bad things.  Trading will remain suspended until all parties have a stable wallet and we have resolved some known issues.

There really should be a separate forum post about this.  Maybe I just cant find it, but this is the only post I've seen regarding why no trading is going on.  And I had to dig for this.

Having an issue when scrolling down inside the wallet, the left side scrolls as well instead of staying in place.  Anyone else having this issue?

General Discussion / Re: Here we go again....4.9 version not working....

Just got mine fully in sync.  Had to quit and restart about 3 times though.

Did you reset the database 3 separate times? or just close out the client and restart it 3 times? (via "continue normally")

I just had to choose reset one time.  Even after that, I only got past so many blocks then would show "No Connections".  I would then quit and restart it to continue.  Eventually it did finish.  Although now I am seeing strange GUI problems, specifically in the market the entire left side of the application going blank.

0.4.9-a has the same crash just short of block 300,000

I just got .4.9.a to sync fully in Windows.  Will see if it stays working.
