General Discussion / Re: Economic Arguments against POS/DPOS
« on: August 08, 2015, 10:40:24 pm »
The utility and purpose of a condom can vary from person to person and is not universal.

To prove my point ask what purpose or utility it has absent humans.  Without humans the balloon has no one to give it purpose.   Take it back in time 1000 years and ask a native what it's purpose or utility is.

Send it to bytemaster.

I see a lot of unfounded speculation.   Bytemaster never gave up on privacy he just didn't have a solution until block stream  published it on the same day 2.0 was announced.    It didn't take Bm long to recognize the value and integrate support.

With the latest work of arghad on porting ct to JavaScript I bet gui integration takes higher priority.

Bm is not a gui developer but has grown the gui team for 2.0 to a total of 5 or 6.   Even Nathan is doing gui work.  That leaves only 4 people doing backend work.

Back seat managers think they can get more out of cass svk chronos and valentine James and  others don't know what they are talking about.

Bitshares already has the lowest forking rate and duration out there.

I think it is safe to say the fee should never be more than 10% of the value transferred, but must be at least a min amount and at most a max amount.

$10 for max fee.  $0.01 for min fee and 0.5% otherwise.

That would make it $0.50 to transfer $100.

Technical Support / Re: Questions on BitAssets in 2.0
« on: July 24, 2015, 11:08:41 am »
There is only one type of collateral per bitasset.   But different bit assets can have anything as collateral.  The issuer picks the collateral type when the symbol is registered.

General Discussion / Re: Ethereum argues for 115,000 TPS
« on: July 22, 2015, 12:02:21 pm »
Using a sharding approach bts could also increase its tps linearly with the number of shards.

Our pre-optimized code can process 180,000 on average hardware.   Upgrade the cpu and add a few optimizations and I bet bts hits 500000 tps without all of the down sides of sharding.

So we have test nets that don't break a sweat at 500 tps and theirs max out at 40.

No, this is long term Ethereum research and development Skunk Works kind of stuff. Highest txps we've reached on the current implementation is 40.
The work the researchers are doing now is for future iterations of Ethereum in 1/2 years or so.

Current yield on bitusd is preventing the market from settling as no one wants to sell their bitusd

Complexity kills.  The more complex the more attacks there may be.    A manual vote tally could provide some protection.  It should only charge a fee if the votes didn't change the outcome.

I think watching price moves is a indicator of a missed news item.
