General Discussion / Re: [Proposal] Bounty for Easy to launch DAC code
« on: March 03, 2014, 08:56:56 pm »
I agree.

I've started developing tools that will be useful for all DACs: https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=3368.0
Unless we port the whole BTS codebase then nobody can avoid having to use that as the core code for the DAC nodes. It's actually already very well written, just unapproachable for other reasons.

Great, i haven't looked into the BTS code properly yet. However if they take to this idea, maybe they should break it up into individual components. eg A set of BTSX bounties and a set of non BTSX bounties. One could be setting up a new github account with clean template of PTS, with a wiki that describes the process of forking and creating an alternate. This will tie in with the genesis initalization guide i wrote. Fot BTS maybe it could be a repository in the same account doing the same, even keyhotee will have a clean template. Compilation of these clean templates, the tools required and guides would be a huge step for the ecosystem. NRS code as well can be added.

Then as we progress, anyone has access and can request pulls that improve the code as a template. So much possibilities.

General Discussion / [Proposal] Bounty for Easy to launch DAC code
« on: March 03, 2014, 08:32:21 pm »
Many people have ideas but no idea how to code. I propose a bounty be posted for clean templates of the existing code bases in the community for easy use, along with detailed guides on what can be modified in graduating order from a total noob to semi-competent developers. Thus far NRS,MMC,PTS are great but anyone who wishes to use them will suffer to get things started.

Additional Bounties could be set up for introducing new useable code bases for different applications.

This will help kick start DAC deployment outside of the usual developer circles.

I agree, this would be a good idea.

 +5%

Hopefully we wont just see copy and paste jobs, the alt-coin industry is failing due to that. Even if someone comes up with a good idea, i'm sure if they ask for coding assistance they will get help.

BitShares PTS / Re: Price
« on: March 03, 2014, 04:48:51 pm »
What?
The price represents the current market valuation. At every moment in the future, the price will reflect the market valuation at that moment. You want I3 to prop it up somehow by infusing it with even more value? You want the market value to be higher than the market value. Did you buy PTS on wrong assumptions about what it represents or something? There's no deadline for DAC proposals...

Unless they release a product favoring PTS soon or ask a third party to do so, then PTS may not recover, else it will recover when they finally get round to it, but it will be temporary and after that it will drop beyond redemption.

"PTS will drop and not recover unless it recovers before then".

I think the point is, this is another symptom of the failure to communicate even basic messaging.  PTS *should* be very valuable, arguably more valuable now that Invictus has proven (ostensibly) that this vehicle can actually deliver a new, unique blockchain product and therefore they'll do it again.

But the only messaging I saw threw out a bunch of ideas, the majority of which they don't think they'll build this year because Bitshares itself will take so much time, so outside help is needed and a high value contest (bounty) is most appropriate IMO given the variables in this situation.  You promote the contest through various channels, it brings in new developers and people who want to see what the developers are building, you spend no time and a fixed amount of resources for a variable and increasing (if you do it right) number of participants and work.

Do you mean 3rd party DACs? Otherwise it's almost certain they'd pay that reward to themselves for BTS X or BTS DNS.

I don't think BTS products should count

For all intents it seems as though the new shiny toy has overshadowed PTS and the effects are evident. PTS going down this far is not a good thing for invictus in anyway, it means PTS is loosing support, loss of support in this way means that money is now leaving the community, and money is what keeps long term investors around.

Unless they release a product favoring PTS soon or ask a third party to do so, then PTS may not recover, else it will recover when they finally get round to it, but it will be temporary and after that it will drop beyond redemption.

Maybe it's time to do a proof of burn into a proto-asset that actually trades on the first Bitshares chain.  Seems miners don't understand why they'd want to keep mining now that Bitshares has split off.

I don't think this is a good idea, I think it's good if PTS is kept "pure".

We actually don't care if there are barely any miners, we just care that they dropped so quickly that the difficulty doesn't have time to adjust and so blocks are slowed down

Implementation of the diff algo i use (PPC) for NRS with stronger limits may help. A hard limit on the maximum time that may pass before a block is solved will make retargets adjust to these swings in hash.

also recently there is talk of chain migration to PoS only. Everyone keeps their balance but we maintain high tx speed by way of micro PoS

uh, this is still active right?

Not much left for PTS , at current price of 0.0139 PTS holders are getting 60% value on their PTS/NRS trades since we are valuing PTS at 0.023.

Reading back through the thread, I see that there was a retake of snapshot; and I missed it again lol.

Put my GPU into mining too 5 days back and getting some 140 hpm, 44 vpm and still no block.

Anyways, still on 0 and any donation would be very welcome.

ALL those who asked for a break in order to wait for the snapshot are now welcome to come and trade their PTS for NRS at the previously agreed rate
