The idea is very simple. Allow buy/sell orders to be placed at the feed price. These orders track with the feed price (or prices, in the case of two smartcoins). For safety, we could also have a minimum or maximum price (based on whether they are buying or selling) needed for the order to execute.

This would essentially allow the blockchain to act as a 0% spread conversion agent for any pair that includes at least one smartcoin. This is completely opt-in of course, so normal buy/sell orders can still be placed, and any standing tracked buy/sell orders will be matched with them as prices change, giving more liquidity that way too.

This seems like a no-brainer to me. What am I missing?

Русский (Russian) / Wallet Recovery, 1.0 -> 2.0, AGS/PTS
« on: June 15, 2017, 03:57:22 pm »
Dear Russian BTS community,

I see that some of you here are having problems getting your old BTS/PTS/AGS into the new Bitshares 2.0 wallet. If you know at least basic English, I can help you recover your BTS. I have helped many people over the past 3 months, over voice chat on Skype with screen share. You never have to send me your wallet or private information. I tell you what you need to do to recover all your BTS. My fee for this service is 10% of recovered BTS, which you send me based on trust.

If your english is not very strong and you want to use text chat only, that is OK too.

Please add me on Skype at fluxanomaly627 if you are interested in this service. For more information, here is my thread in the english Technical Support section.

Thank you,
Julien (fluxer555)

My name is Julien, and I have been an active contributing member of the Bitshares community since 2013. I am offering a one-on-one personal wallet recovery service, over voice with Skype (with or without screen share). I have recovered over 40 users' funds since May 2017 , from a variety of circumstances. Here is an incomplete list of services that I provide:
  • Claiming BTS from PTS/AGS keys in Bitshares 2.0
  • Claiming MUSE from PTS/AGS keys in MUSE 2.0
  • Migrating from Bitshares 1.0 to Bitshares 2.0
  • Recovering funds from Brain Key (1.0 or 2.0)
  • Restoring missing balances
  • Recovering lost passwords (brute force)
  • Un-deleting wallets (forensic recovery)
  • Recovering account data from browser localstorage
  • PTS/AGS claim audit (You may have more Bitshares than you realize!)
  • Anything else- contact me!
My fee is 10% of successfully recovered assets. You never have to trust me with your wallet or private keys, and you pay me based on an honor system.

(For brute force and forensic recoveries, the fee is 20%.)

December 2017 Update: I have become very busy, and unfortunately must start having a minimum fee of $500 (worth of BTS or otherwise). If you are not sure how much BTS you have (because you still need to claim them from PTS or AGS) then please contact me.

General Discussion / Automated Witness Deployment
« on: April 28, 2017, 05:37:15 pm »
Hi everybody,

I used to be very active here, but have spent the last two years focusing on my skills as a full stack web app developer. A few questions:

1. Are procedural steps documented for how to set up a witness server?
2. Would this community be interested in automated deployment scripts that anyone could use to launch their own witness?
3. Would this community be interested in hiring me as worker to get this done?

I currently do this for my work, and see this as something that could be valuable to this community.

How I'm imagining this, you'd be able to set configuration before launching- your cloud provider, server type, server region. It could come with tools to help monitor the performance of your witness.

Let me know what you guys think, also open to ideas!

General Discussion / Sharedrops?
« on: April 16, 2017, 06:17:17 pm »
Has there been any kind of significant sharedrop to BTS or PTS holders in the past 2 years? What ever happened to BitShares Music? Voting?

Has there been any notable sharedrops on other crypto assets in the past 2 years?

Technical Support / Recover Bitshares using PTS private keys
« on: April 13, 2017, 04:45:14 am »
Hi,

So it seems like I forgot my password to my BitShares wallet. Is it possible to recover funds if I have my original BTS-originating PTS wallet?

What's odd is that I'm pretty sure my password is correct. I'm trying to import a backup .json file that was created in v0.5.3 into the v0.9.3c wallet (which I loaded with the blockchain I downloaded from the torrent file). Is there a possibility there's some kind of compatibility issue?

Finally, is there some kind of way I can access BTS v0.9.3c through the command line, so I can use it along with something like Python to try and brute force the password? It's possible that the password I'm thinking of is very close to the real password, and I just need to permute through incrementally distant mutations until I find what it really is.

General Discussion / Haven't been here in over a year...
« on: September 06, 2015, 03:24:05 pm »
Hi everybody,

I've gotten busy with life / my job, so I haven't been as involved in this project over the past year or so. I have some questions:

1. I probably have an old version of BitShares for OSX. What do I need to do to make sure I have a smooth transition to the latest version?

2. What do I need to do to make sure my funds are secure for the 2.0 upgrade?

Thanks :)

What do you guys think? Can somebody comment on the security difference between this and what we have now and/or have planned?

General Discussion / Delegate Pay and 'Type 2' workers
« on: February 26, 2015, 09:36:13 pm »
http://qr.ae/Ee7Ni

"The overlooked detail is that not all sweat creates equal value. Type 2 worker was willing to break some rules, becoming an outcast and going hungry for an indeterminate period of time to create an automated stream of wealth for the village. Worker 1 expects to "get paid" this value by performing "skills" or "tasks". The basis of this line of reasoning doesn't yield the desired results. The key difference is risk taking with no guarantees.

Arguably almost all of the pioneers of the village itself (in this case Google) were Type 2 workers who held their thirst for years before establishing the stream of billions of dollars."

To all 100% delegates out there-- Hold your thirst, the wealth stream is coming soon :)

General Discussion / Instead of adding BitShares to a Bitcoin wallet...
« on: February 25, 2015, 08:24:11 pm »
...Add Bitcoin to the BitShares wallet!

I'm imagining a tab that says "Deposit BTC", which opens up to a page showing the best rate from either metaexchange.info or shapeshift, showing your current BitBTC balance.

This should be simple to implement, yes??

With the new web wallet, this could be the easiest path to giving accessible trust-free decentralized BitUSD hedging!

General Discussion / cn-members is abusing his mod powers
« on: February 25, 2015, 07:52:58 pm »
For those who read this before cn-members remove this post,

This is getting way out of hand. Dozens of threads over the past few weeks have been deleted by 'cn-members', and is making others and myself feel like we are being silenced unjustly, even violated.

Micromanaging voices does not go unnoticed, and if your intention is to have better PR, there are better methods than following the footsteps of your own government. I should not have to worry about what I can or cannot say here, and if I'm getting a sock shoved in my mouth, don't expect me to not fight back.

Have you forgotten the principles of freedom and liberty that hold BitShares together?

I'm thinking of starting another forum if this keeps up.

General Discussion / BitShares and Conway's Law
« on: February 25, 2015, 07:33:40 pm »
In light of recent events, I thought this was relevant:

http://www.thoughtworks.com/insights/blog/demystifying-conways-law

What does this mean for BitShares? How can we take this wisdom and apply to our current PR situation?
