General Discussion / Re: The Hero from BitShares Island
« on: May 11, 2017, 10:24:05 pm »
I don't think it's likely that HERO will pay effective returns of 5%. If you look very closely, HERO can only offer a maximum of 5% return; if it consistently trades above the price feed, it will offer lower returns. Sadly, if it trades above the price feed, it isn't 100% backed by BTS in collateral, which destroys one of its main value propositions.

Stan is talking like this thing is a free lunch (cue him telling me that he's not; judge for yourself), but it's rarely that simple. I don't frequent this forum much any more, but I've been posting about HERO over on Steemit:

https://steemit.com/bitshares/@biophil/will-hero-work-or-can-you-brute-force-the-free-market
https://steemit.com/bitshares/@biophil/who-will-pay-the-interest-on-hero

Here is an example when a person got completely confused by "5% return" claim. There is not 5% return, 1 HERO will always stay 1 HERO. 5% is a rate of increase of underlying peg index relative to USD.

If you read his steem articles, it's clear he understands this.

It may not sound decentralized to you, but it is. Stakeholders can easily change their proxy votes.

General Discussion / Re: Dan's Next Project - EOS Rears its Head
« on: May 11, 2017, 03:52:07 pm »
Here is my guess:

We won't get any sharedrop on EOS itself, but BTS will migrate to the EOS platform and will be a 100% sharedrop on an EOS sub-token. While bitshares will be under EOS, it will become essential to the EOS ecosystem, providing exchange features, stable bitassets, and an example codebase which can be forked into new projects (with possible sharedrops).

I am more skeptical that the value of the work put into bitshares so far will be efficiently transferrable into a new system that runs on what is probably a brand new programming language.

I'm currently getting a 502 Bad Gateway error from https://btsbots.com/sockjs/info

EDIT: Actually, the whole website is serving that error right now.
EDIT2: Everybody's back up now. Downtime of about 5 minutes.

Changing the title of the thread might start becoming a lot of work...

I thought I forgot my password too. It was different than all my usual passwords at the time (because I wanted to be sure it was protected!). I meditated for 14 hours and it came to me in a way that is hard for me to explain.

Try to put yourself back into the mindset of where you were two years ago. Think about what kind of things you were into, what was going on at the time, the personal relationships that you had, etc.. Then delegate the remembering part to your brain. If you try to force your brain to remember then you're only getting in its way. The gentle pressure of intention, combined with persistence and patience.

If you're like me, you've entered this dozens of times before. Sit and look at the password screen, with the same intention as you had every time you unlocked it before. If your work space is different than it used to be, imagine yourself in your old space. Once your fingers start moving in the correct pattern, your fingers might remember first and carry you to the answer.

This was just how it was for me. I hope this helps you too.

Check your PMs blahblah7up

in 0.9.3c wallet:

click settings -> console, then type:

Code: [Select]
wallet_export_keys 'C:\Users\[your user name]\Desktop\keys.json'
replacing [your user name] with the user name on your computer, and press enter. This should save your correct JSON file which you can use to import the bitshares into 2.0. Let me know how that goes.

And, even higher zoom levels (enhance!) show that the previous max was $113MM:

That's what I thought too initially, Stan, but you need to zoom in for higher resolution to see that the all time high was $112MM:

(Also, "MM" is the correct way to specify "million" as a single "M" represents one thousand; two of them is a thousand thousand. I realize CMC got it wrong here too.)

Is there a need for a ReactJS developer? I have been using React for about two years now as a web app developer. Is there any kind of structure/coordination in terms of development?

You lost me at

An increasingly ALT/Bitcoin bear market

This is the most bullish crypto market we've ever seen currently.

I think it's most obvious that the price rise is due to the good news that has come out: EOS + HERO

look at Doge coin....do they have EOS + HERO ?

look at STR....

look at other crap coins......

it's not related to news.
it's related to the acceleration of an overall bullish market.

Information asymmetry, my friend.
