General Discussion / Re: October 2nd Test Network
« on: October 03, 2015, 05:29:38 pm »
Thank you spartako for the CORES, bitshares-argentina ready to be voted in

Easy steps to start translating: Create an account on transifex.com or login with your github or google account. Pick a username and search for project bitshares. There you can choose to join bitshares.org, graphene-ui and soon docs.graphene translation teams. Start translating with these easy steps:

(Just ignore the "collect phrases" step below, that's for project administrators)

You will notice graphene-ui project does not have the Live option, that's because it's not a live web translation, so only step 2 applies (second pic: web editor).

Every one can ask administrators (xeroc cas and I so far)for the role that better suits your task: http://docs.transifex.com/introduction/#user-roles-in-transifex

(ipfs.pics rules)

great!

This should work as on bitshares.org: http://docs.transifex.com/integrations/sphinx-doc/#live

bitshares-argentina is ready on master, can I have 5k CORE?

128
I think most here would be surprised to know how many people in Latin America that, even having an acceptable  knowledge of English, simply refuses to read anything in this language.

I doubt that this phenomenon occurs in the proportion to Russian and Chinese for example, but in any case the benefits of internationalization can be substantial.

129
I might purpose myself to coordinate internationalization  tasks.

Transifex platform worked great for translating  both bitshares.org and graphene-ui into Spanish.
(I guess most of you would get surprised
Working with Transifex "Live" feature for websites is a breeze. We can set any type of rules to prevent breaking page layouts and see changes in realtime before pushing translations. We already have a staging server to publish translations before taking them to production. Tool set, workflow and user roles for collaborative translations are just great too. .

Github integration works nice too,  source locale is pulled (and automatically updated) from github so translators doesn't have to constantly compare their locales on  github for changes on the source file. If something changes on github translators get notified by mail, new translatable keys are added and deprecated ones removed respecting the file format, so keeping translations up to date is much easy and consistent.

Same can be done with Transifex-Sphinx integration for Graphene documentation.

Most or our contents are highly technical and with very own  Bitshares/graphene semantics/technisisms. so even paying for good quality technical translations won't do much better than a raw google translate as it will  still require for advanced community members to deeply review each translation. Also as far as I've seen technical translations are priced from 0.07 up tu 0.2 usd per word, bitshares.org alone has more than 30k words so that's not an option at this point. That's why I decided to translate into Spanish myself.

I'll be posting simple tutorials to introduce the platform and workflow when I fin the time to do it, but I'm afraid that won't be enough to  to have quality results on time.

I'm looking for a way to reward some trusted community members as language team coordinators, any advice will be appreciated. Bitshares-argentina delegate savings could help but that won't be enough.

Having a child board or sticky thread may be a good starting point to coordinate and keeping information organized.

I like Sphinx.

We have Transifex-Sphinx integration  :)  http://docs.transifex.com/integrations/sphinx-doc/#live

Count me in, especially when I finish translating bitshares.org Technology a pages into spanish (not an easy task)

General Discussion / Graphene-ui Internationalization on Transifex
« on: September 30, 2015, 12:58:17 pm »
https://www.transifex.com/bitshares/graphene-ui/

Transifex checks locale-en.js once a day and updates it's translation source file if there's any change. Users can be notified on changes by clicking "Watch Project".

We are using plain text source file from raw.github to avoid the conversion from Counterpart locale file format (used by React Translate Component) to JSON every time that source file changes on github, and then reformatting for commits.

That's why we have to use the Copy Source String button on every string and translate only the text between double quotes.  The resulting locale file is ready to download and push without any change.

Non translatable strings have been locked so there's no risk to break file format if the translatable strings are copied from source language and only the text between double quotes  is translated. In any case I'll review every translation before pushing a commit.

I am at your disposal for questions and suggestions.

General Discussion / Reminder: bitshares.org is ready for translations
« on: September 29, 2015, 09:46:07 am »
Collaborative internationalization platform is ready to publish translations in bitshares.org, you can test its' behavior by switching to Spanish (translation in progress, I'm doing it myself when I have time).

https://www.transifex.com/bitshares/bitshares-org/live/ is open for everyone to translate but you have to create a free account (or login with github or gmail) to use the Live feature, which we are using to translate bitshares.org.

bitshares-org is bitshares.org project. We can add as many projects as needed if they are open source.

I'll add graphene-ui internationalization project soon.

Feel free to ask me to add more languages and for user permissions. Available roles are Translator, Reviewer, Language Coordinator, Team manager, Project Maintainer and Organization Administrator (I gave admin to Cass and xeroc so far).

Translations needs Reviewer (or higher role) approval to get published, so anyone can just start translating.

The following delegates have been upgraded 0.9.3:

riverhead-del-server-1
backbone.riverhead
bm.payroll.riverhead
marketing.methodx
argentina-marketing.matt608
fuzzy.beyondbitcoin

I will campaign for a witness position in 2.0 running on a dedicated, hosted, server. Note this is not a VPS but a standalone box hosted in a data center.

Many thanks for the upgrade Riverhead.

bitshares-argentina would like to campaign for a witness too. We think this respectable position would complement with our commitment on local community building, being a trusted referent for both Argentinians interested in implementing BitShares technology in their businesses as for foreign companies looking to apply it locally.
