I can haz brownie.pts?

I've been spreading the word about BitShares IRL (since it was ProtoShares) and did the below transcripts from hangouts, formatting them for the forum (took 4 hours each) and posted them on our blog, then made the links private and deleted all of my work from the forum so our blog/the forum did not take away from Beyond Bitcoins SEO, per CLains request. I loved doing it btw and was a bit torn about removing all of my hard work as it really helped me remember what was said during each mumble session and helped me answer questions here on the forum by linking to the appropriate part of the mumble sessions for others on the forum (I post under the TuckFheman account here most times. I also may or may not be a member of the "3 Comma Club").  ;)

I just checked the Notifications again and they are definitely not giving me the option for a custom url.
Not yet anyway...

Thanx for all your help you guys, if we keep sharing, we should reach the 500 pretty quick since I think we have at least that many users here on the forum.
The twitter page (kenCode_de) seems to be helping too.

Well, please Like, subscribe, follow and share anyway, google will see all your clicks and help get us bumped up. That traffic equates to new users!
Thank you! :)

Once you verify your URL it takes a few days to a week.

General Discussion / Re: Bitshares price discussion

I'm still wondering why the price has dropped since the announcement?

IMHO...

announcements are only good for quick pump and dumps, without an actual product it means nothing, it's just hype to make quick profit off of for most day traders.

every small announcement from here until "this summer" will be met with this same small rise, dip leaving the price a little higher each time until we actually do reach "This summer" and some may even wait until after it has been released and proven for a few months before they start buying in.

Obviously I'm not going to win this battle as anyone who may have bought bts with knowledge that an exchange would be integrating BTS isn't going to admit it here.  And i'm realizing internet battles might be the least productive thing in the world.  I'm also not a BTS bear, I got lucky and bought a bunch when it was trading around 9mil.  But if a BTS bull like me is bringing this up, what do you think people in other communities or anti bts people might say?  Insider trading happens everyday on wall street and many never get caught.  Its the repeat offenders that do.  If it wasn't the core dev team making the announcement I don't think it would be that big of a deal, but they have direct control over BTS until 1.0 is released.  We just saw Ross Ulbricht get life in prison for a grey list a crimes and creating a website.  Don't give someone a reason to investigate the dev's.

Ordering people to be killed isn't grey.. it's black and white: http://www.wired.com/2015/02/read-transcript-silk-roads-boss-ordering-5-assassinations/

There must have been some gray area because they did not file those charges against him, it was used more as propaganda against him.

General Discussion / Re: BitAsset 2.0 Requirements & Implied Design
« on: May 04, 2015, 08:42:03 pm »
1. An assumption that BitAssets 2.0 depends upon USD/BitUSD gateways  (false assumption)
...
From the perspective of merchants and everyone else you want them to know that 1 BitUSD to USD is the floor and ALWAYS a safe price to exchange at.

Sorry but I don't think you fully understand the "perspective of merchants" or I don't fully understand what the hell you're saying above when it comes to why a merchant would want to accept bitUSD. I can tell a merchant 1 bitUSD = 1 USD all day long, but what good does it do that merchant if they can't get out of bitUSD and into USD quickly (within 24 hours) and easily (without transferring funds to an exchange that is unregulated)? Why should that merchant leave the comfort of a merchant bank who (for 3% or less) handles all of the financials for the merchant and conveniently deposits the funds into their account the next morning?  How will BitShares possibly compete, much less get a foothold with U.S. merchants when there is no regulated gateway (even though you say it's not required, you've offered no solution for the merchants that I can see) to convert to USD? I can even throw in, "hey you're making 3% more!" and it would do no good. 3% more of what? The merchant can't easily convert bitUSD, no one else accepts it, what good is this 3% I've earned if I can't easily convert it to USD?

Dan, I'm down with your plan and all but I can't look at this with rose colored glasses thinking, "one day everyone will just realize how great this is and things will change!". You and I both know that's not going to happen.

  • How will the merchant get their USD within 24 hours without a regulated exchange converting bitUSD to USD?
  • How much of a hassle will this be for the merchant? They have enough to do without having to handle these conversions themselves.

The only way this makes sense is if you already have a deal lined up with someone like CoinBase and you simply can't say at this time.  Otherwise, as you've explained it in this thread and the original, the idea of merchants accepting bitUSD is a pipe dream IMHO. There's simply no way I could possibly convince a merchant to accept bitUSD with the terms you've outlined in both post, regardless of 1:1.03. And since you're much smarter than I will ever be, I'm going to watch you shoot down my entire post piece by piece and gently explain to me how this will work, so that I can easily explain it to merchants, because what you are reading right now is the "perspective of merchants".  "How am I going to get my money Dan?"

Can this be a weekly strip?  :)

I think it will be a "when it feels right" release schedule. ;)  I'm glad a few of you enjoyed it, thank you!

BTW, anyone wondering, I love BitShares! I've been in BitShares since the very beginning using a joint account here on the forum. I was asked to create my own account, for some reason. ;)  Please do not miscontrue my complaints or perceived bad attitude as "demanding value" or anti-BitShares. I'm not in this alone and I think I can safely say I have brought just as many people into PTS/BTS in the early days than anyone else on these forums. I link to all of your blogs and businesses online every chance I can in articles, forums, comment sections and sigs on many accounts and I upvote your comments. To put it bluntly, I promote the **** out of BitShares, I just forgot to make my ANN thread. So, I apologize for venting from time to time. It is nothing more than what I have to listen to daily from others I brought into PTS long ago, and a tiny bit of my own frustration leaking out publicly in an effort to avoid the "BitShares Shill" label I was given. It can't always be roses, or it begins smelling like     .  ;D  Thank you for your understanding and thanks again to those that appreciate the comic! I'll try to make the next one more positive.

Edit : corrected quote.

General Discussion / Re: Dash and Decentralized Governance
« on: April 26, 2015, 09:53:36 pm »
https://www.dashpay.io/news/self-sustainable-decentralized-governance-by-blockchain/

I just had a very quick read of this and thought to post. Can we learn something from there?

Here's what I learned a long time ago.

"Darkcoin was mined with 500 DRK generated per block from the get go. From block 1 to at least block 3250, according to their blockchain, they were still producing 500 coins each block. The transition from 500 to 277 coins per block occurs between 3250 and 3500 but this author did not see the necessity of getting the exact moment of halving. Simple math shows that 3250 blocks multiplied by 500 coins a block is 1,625,000 Darkcoins created between the times of 3:54 and 11:22 on January 19th, 2014. As of today there are around 4,300,000 DRK in existence, making this a pretty hefty instamine. The Darkcoin website expects around 22,000,000 DRK to be created. That means in less than 8 hours, almost 5% of the Darkcoins that ever will be created spawned in that 1/3 of a day. It's safe to say Darkcoin has left it's investors in the dark on this one."

Evan has some brilliant ideas, X11, dark gravity wave and he won 2014 Proof of Honor award. It still doesn't change the above. AFAIK, the instamine has never been resolved.  See : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=999886.0
