Technical Support / Integrating and Partnering with ZenCash (ZEN)
« on: September 18, 2017, 01:14:49 pm »
Hey all, i'm one of the co-founders for ZenCash, also a big long time supporter of Bitshares...now that we're starting to grow and do some cool things with ZEN, it'd be awesome to integrate my two favorite projects: ZenCash + Bitshares!

I noticed that one of our media team members @MedaR has already reached out:
https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php/topic,24837.msg309915.html#msg309915

But I wanted to piggyback on that and get this discussion started since that didn't look like it went anywhere.

With ZenCash, we're leveraging zk-SNARKs over a fully end-to-end encrypted network of secure nodes that includes censorship resistant features like domain fronting, private comm over the blockchain, secure document publishing via IPFS, we're economically rewarding other stakeholders (not just miners) via a community fund / Treasury and paying people to operate secure nodes, and we're experimenting with decentralized governance via a DAO.

What's not to love from the perspective of anyone who values privacy? We also have some big sponsors, advisors, partners, and an awesome team: https://zensystem.io/team/

We're partnered with Crypto Media Hub (cryptomediahub.com) and Wachsman PR (wachsmanpr.com), so all of our integrations are widely publicized.

Would be great to get ZEN on the Bitshares DEX for starters, but because I love both these projects, I'd like to explore a deeper partnership. Any cool ideas?

It'd be great to chat further with the community. In the meantime, here's a bunch more info about the project:

Openledger / OpenLedger Margin Updating
« on: February 12, 2017, 04:18:54 am »
Does anyone know what happened to the margin maintenance box that was always in the OL account view? i can't find any easy way to manage all of my open margin positions, and have had to go to each smartcoin directly and update there.

Or is it located somewhere else my old eyes aren't seeing?

i trade every day on OL, so if i can be of use to whoever is working the trading GUI dev, please let me know...

A bit of a moment of panic for me just now trying to access my wallet and the password keeps getting rejected. Is anyone else having this issue?

That was on Firefox, so I just tried on Safari and the password works there. this doesn't make any sense to me, but it looks like there's some openledger work in progress; can anyone else explain this issue?

@svk @Stan anyone else experiencing this?

Thanks!

General Discussion / How do the OPEN.X assets work?
« on: June 18, 2016, 02:12:28 pm »
I'm interested in trading some of these OPEN.X assets, but not sure how they work? For instance, do I have a 1-to-1 ownership claim on a STEEM, MUSE, or BTC for each OPEN.X token I buy? And if so, how? Who guarantees that trade across networks, from the OPEN.X token on the Bitshares network to the respective blockchain?

With Bytemaster and (i'm assuming) others leaving an active role in Bitshares, who do we have left? Which projects are they working on?

CALLING ALL LIQUIDITY PROVIDERS, FRIENDS OF BITSHARES, AND SPECULATORS WHO WANT TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF SPECTACULAR SPREADS:

Our silver market is getting crushed and we're running out of sell-side liquidity on the order book. I've been borrowing and selling silver to try to keep the order book liquid for the last couple weeks into yet another BTS crash, and quite frankly i'm getting tapped out. I've just borrowed and put up for sale maybe my last block of silver until the market improves, which has narrowed spreads a bunch, but I don't have enough BTS collateral capacity to keep it up.

Anyone else interested in keeping the market going? Silver is one of the more extreme cases lately, but the same goes for the others. We need more sell-side liquidity providers.

General Discussion / WASHINGTON and FRANKLIN assets?

I just had some of these graciously dropped into my account (VERY MUCH APPRECIATED!), but can someone tell me more about them?

General Discussion / Why is so much CNY being dumped below feed?
« on: April 14, 2016, 01:07:38 pm »
I've been buying and settling CNY the last few days whenever I see a big order pop up below feed. To me this is an indication that supply exceeds demand at the moment. Anyone actively trading this market have a better explanation?

General Discussion / Who trades our GOLD or EUR markets?
« on: March 18, 2016, 01:04:44 pm »
I've been considering entering either of these, but both have fairly low volumes. Just curious about who else in this community actively trades these, or who would be interested if there were more volume?

11
Where are the other market makers? I was surprised waking up today to see our USD, BTC, and SILVER markets with highest bids well below settlement. For the first time that I've been trading these markets I actually requested settlement just to try it out. I've closed the gap for these markets, but it looks like we're seeing an evolving (or maybe temporary) chance to make money simply buying below feed and settling like @JonnyBitcoin mentioned earlier.

Technical Support / OpenLedger Wallet Still Extremely Buggy
« on: March 17, 2016, 02:58:34 pm »
Is anyone else having issues with OL? I'm still getting the APIs randomly disconnecting, orders expiring without being posted to the markets, etc.

General Discussion / Pricing in order confirmation window
« on: March 17, 2016, 02:29:54 pm »
Another UI fix would be to adjust the price in the order confirmation windows to be quoted in the same asset base as the market. For instance, we can view any of the markets in either ASSET-BTS or BTS-ASSET --i prefer using ASSET-BTS to normalize them all to a BTS base; however, even when i'm viewing the market as ASSET-BTS, for some markets (e.g. BTC-BTC) automatically show the BTS-ASSET price in the trade confirmation window. This is confusing and sometimes leads me to post trades at the wrong price bc sometimes the automatic fill in the Buy/Sell windows reverts to the the last trade.

A good fix would be to ensure the confirmation window posts the quote in the same base unit as the market we're trading.

General Discussion / Blocktrades.us offline (updated: online)
« on: March 15, 2016, 06:56:52 pm »
Does anyone know why?

Also, shapeshift.io still lists BTS as offline.

We've come a long way with the technology and have an awesome platform, but the openledger interface still takes way too long to trade. i'm trying to rearrange my open positions to react to changing market prices, and it's taking me, on average, about 30-60 seconds to execute each trade. that's from when i click either Buy, Sell, or Cancel ...it takes sometimes that long just for the confirmation window to pop up, and far too often trades expire unexecuted bc it took too long.

There are a variety of interesting new feature proposals floating around the community for debate, but compared to any of those the relative value of continuing to tighten up and improve the DEX experience should be priority #1.

For starters, does anyone know why we're having such variability in interface latency? Sometimes it works fairly quickly (but should still be constantly improved), but times like this are so frustrating when i'm trying to place a few dozen orders at once. it shouldn't take me 30 minutes to get in my trades.
