I'd be curious to see which accounts are the most active traders.

General Discussion / Let's try to get @bitshares on twitter
« on: March 08, 2016, 02:11:55 am »
I just tweeted to the account to try to get it for the community. It sucks that @bitshares is taken by someone tweeting about mainly bitcoin, not our actual bitshares community. It's just embarrassing that the most official twitter account we have is @_bitshares.

General Discussion / Have trading fees dropped?
« on: March 08, 2016, 01:10:05 am »
I didn't hear any announcement, but my trading fees are only 0.23386 BTS. Is this a new change? I'm definitely not complaining!

General Discussion / DEX is having delay issues
« on: March 07, 2016, 12:15:00 am »
Has anyone else been having issues trading on the DEX? I'm using Firefox and have had delay issues for some time now, some times are worse than others; today has been miserable, though, which is why I'm finally posting specifically about this.

The issue is that when I go to any of the markets and try to place Buy or Sell orders, or even cancel outdated orders, nothing happens. I click whatever icon i need for the task and nothing happens. Several minutes later (or sometimes not at all bc i get too frustrated and close out of the window) i get the transaction confirmation window, but it's too late and the transaction has timed out.

Is this happening to anyone else? Does anyone have a clue why this would be happening? It's really cramping my trading volume, which means it is likely affecting others and hitting our core competency. This even happened while introducing a friend to Bitshares last week, leaving him with a poor impression, unfortunately.

i've tried closing and reopening the window, refreshing, and also just waiting it out.

What exactly is the reserve pool? How much is in it, how was it accumulated, and who controls is?

General Discussion / How can you force settlement for a smartcoin?
« on: February 27, 2016, 03:58:55 pm »
I just saw this video @JonnyBitcoin about how to profit from forced settlement: https://www.youtube.com/embed/psN-hhDcBrY

Mechanically, how can you force settle a smartcoin? I've never seen an option to do that for any of the markets i trade (USD, BTC, SILVER). Of course, i wouldn't want to force settle when i'm buying above settlement, but it'd be nice to know how to do that in case things ever got crazy...

General Discussion / Can My Orders be sorted on price?
« on: February 26, 2016, 02:41:08 pm »
Another improvement to the trading GUI would be sorting My Orders by price. Currently, it looks like they appear in the time order in which the orders were made. It would be much more useful for traders if they were sorted on price, so i can quickly see my highest bid and lowest ask simultaneously without having to scroll and mentally index.

I noticed some updates to the openledger trading GUI. The buy and sell boxes are at the very bottom of the screen now, below the My History and My Orders boxes, which are below the order book ...the thing i really need to see when places my orders. Can we please place the Buy and Sell boxes just above, or adjacent to, the order book?

General Discussion / Annoying problem matching orders
« on: February 25, 2016, 02:43:24 pm »
About a third of the time i try placing direct buy or sell orders against an open order by simply clicking on the bid or ask in the order book, the trade isn't matched. There seems to be some microscopic price difference that prevents trade execution. I've wasted at least hundreds of BTS in fees by having to cancel out that order and put it back in at some token amount higher. This is a very annoying bug in the system that probably has an easy fix.

Whenever i click on a bid or ask to auto populate a buy or sell order, the price should be EXACTLY matched. it often is, but far too often there is a mismatch that i cannot see and i end up wasting fees.

Any ideas how to fix?

General Discussion / Why is BTS not available on Shapeshift.io?
« on: February 23, 2016, 10:24:49 pm »
Currently listed as "offline". Just trying to do a little comparative shopping with blocktrades.us, but unavailable.

What exactly is the minimum margin ratio below which short positions are called? And what exactly happens at this point? Are our positions reversed and liquidated at the settlement price, or are they simply put on the market with a bid equal to settlement, or series of lowest asks that'll fulfill the order?

All i'm seeing available on my OpenLedger wallet are transactions for the prior 3 days. I need to verify that a withdrawal from Poloniex actually hit my account, but this supposedly happened four days ago.

General Discussion / What is METAEX.BTC?
« on: February 16, 2016, 10:15:37 pm »
I'm seeing a relatively high trade volume for it on the DEX, but can't find a description. Is this a UIA? Does it represent some sort of ownership in https://metaexchange.info?

We have an awesome platform, cool assets, we just need people to bring some money to the table and have fun experiencing the 21st century of trading. The more the merrier --noise traders, chart phuckers, quants, bots, whatever...

I've been having fun trying to play market maker for some of the assets, keeping open buy and sell orders throughout the day to narrow spreads, but we need a lot more people to jump in; whether it's to park capital in market-pegged assets, speculate, day trade, etc. My plan is to automate this when i have more time, but for now it's a fun addiction to keep OpenLedger up all day and refresh my orders.

that said, the community would benefit tremendously from a concerted marketing campaign geared towards retail traders.

Pretend you're pitching the idea of adding liquidity to bitUSD to a hedge fund and you're trying to convince them to short 1 million bitUSD into existence as a test run for significant future trading. What would you say?
