General Discussion / Re: Help me understand about Bitshares 2.0
« on: October 02, 2015, 01:55:23 pm »
Sorry to ask the same question again, but want to make sure I have it right.

I updated from 0.9.2 to 0.9.3c on Mac.

I did File > Export Wallet > saved json file to desktop.

In the console I did: wallet_export_keys  <path to the json file I just exported>

I now have the exported json file from File > Export Wallet and another file that is just called "Bitshares"

Which one do I import in Graphene after it launches?

Thanks for the help guys.

Assuming you are running 0.9.3c, both files should be identical, are they not?

They don't, since bm(?) missed including qt wallet change in 0.9.3c. the latter is (console version) the correct one.

Perfect, thanks Clayop and Xeroc. You guys rock, as always.

huh?

I'm just saying to anybdy who speaks Mandarin to:

call these guys up and give them the old:

这个是私人账号,表达的一切言论均不代表任何团队和任何人

Translation:

If you cats are simply dropping $500k on Ether just because it has the biggest market cap of all the public crypto 2.0 projects ("Ethereum is definitely the leading project of crypto 2.0 on decentralized applications at the moment" ), then you might want to get on board the BitShares train before we launch our product and hit an old BitShares market cap that just so happens to surpasses the market cap of the "leading project of crypto 2.0"

Personally, my Mandarin need work.

"Greatest" sales speech ever :

Hey , I saw you just buy an apple .
We have some apple too . It would be stupid for you not to buy ours .  If you are in your right mind , you should buy our apple already !
You cats really don't know what good stuff is . You must be stupid for buying apple from others instead of from us .
Why , why do your cats don't buy apple from us? It's your lost !

After this great speech , whoever buys our apple must have low self-esteem . Sadly , I think this was the speech many of us have made before we become mature .

I think the point that EB is making is that they aren't investing in ETH for any specific technical results, but simply based on marketcap and reputation. If they did a little due diligence, they would find BitShares to have similar or far greater potential (depending on who you talk to - far greater in most of our opinions obviously) and to be at a tremendous value/growth opportunity.

I agree that there is a big market there. We have been working to make it useable from that perspective, and we are almost there.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm really excited for the next upcoming quarter or two.

If you're excited, then I am excited good sir!

I'm going to set aside enough bitUSD to pay for my kids education and hopefully secure their future as well - with my private keys! Thankfully I have 16 or so years to let BTS mature.

Edit: hopefully. Obviously wild speculation and dreams.

Thank you...any additional is welcome.

It seems cool, is my first impression.

+5% it is very cool. Specifically, check out bitshares.org/technology....it should explain things fairly well, and ask any follow up questions you want!

Random Discussion / Re: Voter Apathy or Most Delegates = Not Worthy?
« on: September 23, 2015, 09:30:48 am »

BitShares has had this idea since inception that if incentives are aligned they will come. But who are they?

In the end, what happened instead was that people who initially participated in forum discussions and lurked around, ended up joining the core team, or starting a related project. Before coming, there was a process where they became BitShares, learning and arguing about the economical, political, and technical potential of this project, contributing their own knowledge and experience into the mix.

We have better incentives now, but I still suspect they are people who first have to become BitShares, and who then stand up and participate because they freely chose to do so, not because they are overwhelmingly compelled by profit. It is extremely difficult for a crypto-equity to align incentives in a way that makes it more profitable to work for them than to work where pay is best and then invest.

Just like BitShares understood over time that security is as much in the community and in reputation, I think we will understand more and more that getting people to participate is not just an economical calculation or a simple referral program, although it helps a great deal. Getting users, workers, witnesses, and delegates depends just as much on the "massively transformative purpose" we strive for, the developer experience, the forum liveliness and the characters involved, and many other intangible aspects of this project.

We should see everyone here as individuals first and homo-economicus second. In the end the economical aspect is in service of complex individuals who live with passion and purpose. The world is a big place, and we choose to be right here, right now, with each other and with this project, in all its gory matrimonios glory..

Well said!

I don't think discussion or user should be censored. The idea has been overwhelmingly shot down.....hopefully that's enough.

That's a good point. Shows our community's quick response time and attitude toward the kind of spam we are likely to see more of.

I'd like to ignore blazin8888 because he does nothing but troll about the price.  First bull trolling saying he would buy hundreds of btc and now bear trolling.

Our community is under scrutiny and review now more than ever. I don't think this game should be participated in.

We will probably stay under 1 cent until release.

If we break 2600 anything can happen.

I think we will stay in between 2500- 3k for the next few months. I would advice everyone here to sell and wait this storm out. We should see a major correction anytime now.

Been reading your posts for the past few days. I don't know what to think of you man.

I am not a mac users, so I am not sure, but do you have a console version installed too or only the GUI version.
I would assume the wallet is rescanning the blocks since the last login, but without the console version it's not really possible to know ..

The Mac GUI includes the CLI as well. What commands can they enter into the console to help understand what's happening?

Thanks as always for your help.
