General Discussion / Re: btsbots wallet release v0.0.1
« on: April 04, 2017, 05:38:52 pm »
FEEDBACK from a newbie

Those questions may seem ridiculous to you but that may give you an insight of how a complete newbie thinks...

I really want to provide liquidity but I need your help to understand this part:

First: What is the "Order Balance" and why is it in CNY? Afterall, I'm in the USDT/BTS market...that's confusing.
Second: My guess is that I have to input spread on both side in order to provide liquidity is that true?
Third: What should I input in the "Spread" section? 1% or -1% (Maybe it would be good to put a default value in there for the complete newbie who just want to run a bot quickly and then once he has more experience, he can easily tinker with it?)
Fourth: How do I make sure the orders won't empty my wallet of BTS when I turn the bot on?

1.) size of your order in CNY equivalent (because this bot was created for the Chinese who understand value best in CNY)
2.) if you just run a buy bot or just a sell bot you are still helping liquidity
3.) put positive amounts in both buy and sell. The total of these will be your spread
4.)click BOTS > SETTINGS then enter a "asset balance limit" this will stop the bot buying more than you want it to.

I would, but dont even know what is POLO

Poloniex is a crytocoin exchange.

We should lobby them to add USDT/ BTS, anyone know how?

Stakeholder Proposals / Re: Proxy: xeroc

no, btsbots.com is a gift to community for free.
and will be maintained as an open source project for free.
I don't have much time to develop it now only because of I have a new project need release in 3 month.it's not about money.
good news is the new project used btsbots's architecture, so some code will merge to btsbots later.

this is one of the reason why I against the worker.
a coder like to do something cool, but we don't need this, we need something satisfied the users.
If we need this tool, we definitely implement it in the web page instead of in the console
.. and you would do that for free?

You do understand that the console tool is not the main point of my worker but a reference implementation that shows how to use the python library?!

Alt, have you considered doing a worker proposal to further develop btsbots?

A big BTS related project in 3 months time sounds very promising :-) :-)

When you say you coded the bot yourself .. did you use Xeroc's  "pybitshares" as in his earlier reply to the stakemachine topic in the Technical Support & Feedback forum section ?  https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php/topic,23939.msg304085.html#msg304085

It looks like there are a few Bot discussions going on at the present time.
While starting to get in Python and liking the look of pybitshares for interfacing I am not keen to reinvent the wheel especially if its designed by someone who can do it better than a newbie :-)

Interested to know if anyone is using stakemachine currently or another bot for real trades on Bitshares or Openledger Blockchain.

Cheers John

bts bots is python and can be found here https://github.com/pch957/btsbots

I have a few questions, just trying to understand this more clearly. So in buying this asset it will redeem at date X 1:1 with the tether you hold elsewhere? Who will determine you own tether and that it has defaulted? Is this a UIA? It will only redeem the amount of USDTETHERDEFAULT that you buy, correct? So how will it cover Tether which you hold which has defaulted because amount of Tether will always be > this asset? Thanks!

Not a UIA. It is a special type of Smartcoin called a prediction market asset(PMA) this is a binary bet on the outcome of an event.
USDTETHERDEFAULT is borrowed into existence much like bitUSD. On Jan 1st it will either be worth 1 BitUSD or zero.
There are no tether tokens involved.

Think of it as insurance with a premium of 2% a year that only pays out if tether has problems and stops redemptions.

my guess would be that USDTETHERDEFAULT has a 98% chance of expiring and being worth 0.

112
thank god I roi'd. that thing will be worthless in no time.
what do you mean?

they won't take bitcoin from now on, only their UIA.

the potential user base went down by 99% - needless to say that FUNC is not liquid on any market at the moment.

very bad decision in my opinion.

I can't enter the site cause i live in the uk. must have an ip blocker. :-(

It's too easy to smart people to hear about bitshares community spending money to create a false impression and decide not to enter the community. I will not vote for this worker. Anyone is free, of course, to fake volume on the exchange but the community isn't going to pay for it.

Real trades are not a false impression. To make this volume you have to put up real bids and asks that any market participants could take.

This is just another idea to create liquidity. Something bitshares needs.

It is essentially zero spread market making with very little depth.

115
Faking volume is a bad idea in any case, IMO.

It's even worse when discussed in a public forum. Now even if we have that much real volume nobody's going to believe it.

It's not fake if real bids and offers are being filled.
Just like market making shows real market depth even though it is often done by the exchange itself.

I have handed over ownership of the asset: USDTETHERDEFAULT

The new owner is: LIN9UXIS

That account is controlled by respected community member [member=42020]Valentin | Lin9uxis[/member] who will be responsible for settling the outcome on Jan 1st or sooner.

Valentin and [member=41672]kingscrown[/member] are building a selection of prediction market assets under the banner of Bitsbetsgroup and I think they are more suited to be the owner than me.

their latest proposed PMA details can be found here  https://steemit.com/bitshares/[member=41672]kingscrown[/member]/would-you-trade-prediction-market-of-bitcoinunlimited-hardfork-on-bitshares-dex-with-steem

You should start a new thread and concisely explain your idea.

point to note: there is no USD:BTS market on poloniex

I talked with Ether Design but his prices are too high for due to the latest ETH price increase. I cannot afford 4000 USD for a website redesign right now from my own pockets. I am looking into other options. Will have an an answer about that soon.

Sorry about the delays.

Cheers Chris

I imagine a worker proposal would get approved for $4000
