Technical Support / Re: Permissions
« on: January 17, 2016, 09:37:40 am »
I am trying to understand and implement some permissions. "Active permissions define the accounts that have permission to spend funds for this account." What does spending entail ?  transfers, trading ?
Anything.
Any operation made by this account, or say any changes to this account, need to be confirmed by who have the active permissions or owner permissions.

man this is a killer feature ! gets me really excited , hope it will be soon available on gui and easy to use of course !  Let me get this straight . Active permissions only approve what that account does with its funds ? But they dont initiate a transaction ? When I was playing around I the account which was added as an active permission was able to trade the other accounts funds but when I added one more active permission it didnt work.

You need to use propose_transaction and approve_proposal to play with threshold permissions, which are not available on GUI right now. Try CLI.

abit ! you always have answers I need ! thanks a lot. so in gui adding authorities with weights wont be enough to use this feature right now, is that right ?

"Let’s assume, Alice, Bob, Charlie and Dennis have common funds. We want to be able to construct a valid transaction if only two of those agree."

common funds where ? in whose account ? in one of their own accounts or a separate account?

agree how,  what does that mean?  , whats the procedure of agreeing on a transaction ? how those separate authorities communicate about on what to agree?

how many here understand and successfully implements this, anybody ? I need help

There is an example on docs.bitshares.eu ,
"All four participants have a weight of 33% but the threshold is set to 51%. Hence only two out of the four need to agree to validate the transaction."

How do they agree ?, I have been tying this with no luck.  Once I add authorities do I have to add the account itself as an authority with a certain weight ?  I keep getting this message " Missing active actıve authority x.x.xxx" which turn out to be the account itself. I tried adding it and not adding it , with different weights and all that . I cant seem to wrap my head around a simple operation.

Technical Support / Re: Are fees for creating UIAs burned ?

In the system the value is expressed with BTS , how else can I bring value into the system? Lets assume everybody sees value in the UIA I created, that can only be ultimately expressed in  terms of BTS.

Imagine total BTS in the system is 1000 ,  only holders are two of us
you hold 500 and I hold 500
1. I create an UIA and ask 300 BTS for it
2. You think that it worth that much and  you buy it
3. now you have 200 BTS + UIA (worth 300) = 500
4. I now have 500 + 300 = 800
5. So now in total there are 1300 BTS in the system, wrong?

Haven't we just diluted the system?

( I didnt take fees into account since they are still in bitshares system.)

The core exchange rate ia only relevant if people use your token to pay for tx fees ..
Its also independent of the amount of shares in existence.
If your fee pool runs out of funds, people will nees BTS to pay for the fee

xeroc ! thanks for always being there.

When we create UIA we pay minimum 5k fee , I wonder if those are burnt or what?
Half of them went to your UIA's fee pool. The other half went to (system) reserved pool https://cryptofresh.com/reserve.

thanks abit ! So they still stay in the system, when I issue  lets say 1 million units with core exchange rate of 1 BTS, whether I really back these assets or not,  I would be diluting the system . What do you think?

To upgrade:
  • Download alpha 8 release: http://bitshares-munich.de/bitshares-wallet/BitSharesWallet-v1-alpha8.apk
  • Install it right over the top of alpha 7 release
  • Write down your Brainkey (in Settings screen) and TRIPLE CHECK you wrote it down correctly!!
  • Uninstall the wallet completely (not really necessary, but right now it's the easiest way to clean up unused files)
  • Install alpha 8 again from scratch
  • Tap on Existing accounts and then tap on the first link in the following screen to type in your brainkey
  • Give it a few minutes to sync up and bring in all your balances and transactions
  • Done. This week we are doing even more UI work, upgrading the Contacts screen, etc :)

Translations ?
