General Discussion / Re: Let's Lower Trading Fee
« on: October 22, 2015, 01:40:01 pm »
Currently trading fee is 10 BTS for each order and 0 for cancellation. It is obviously lower than transfer fee, only 1/4 of it. However, I want to argue for lowering trading fee for several reasons.

First, we can attract more users from centralized exchanges. "Almost zero fee" can be a good catch phrase. Our most important product is the exchange platform and we need to advertise it. Luring new users with lower fees first, considering a profit then (Just curious, how many BTS are reduced from trading?)

Second, lowering trading fees can lead to much frequent orders. Unlike transfer, people are more likely to do order when the fee is low. That is, lowering trading

Third, most importantly, we need market makers. In the centralized exchanges, they place orders several thousands times a day or even more, because the exchanges do not charge for "unfilled" orders (but we do). 10 BTS per filled order is not that bad. But for every unfilled order is horrible.

Lowering trading fees can be a temporary option, like only 3 months. When we have enough user base, then we can calculate the real numbers.

Developing world will be the first to adopt this technology . You need to be appealing to the unbanked  for mass adoption . Start by replacing western union and trading will follow. Transfer fees should be minimal.

The way to market to the developing world is to allow them to earn enough Bitshares to pay the fee. The goal should be to attract big whales and big money to bring in liquidity. The developing world doesn't have much liquidity so why would we want to focus on lowering fees to appeal to the poorest in the room who have the least money to provide liquidity?

Bring in people who have money first, then lower fees later on when liquidity is there. Even if there are fewer people, if the fewer participants have millions of dollars each, its more liquidity than if you have many millions in the developing world.

Well big whales can always acquire their own blockchain , why do you think they will choose your platform. This is a race agains time , whoever appeals to the masses will grab a market share and more importantly brand recognition. Aspirin is a cheap and widely available product some even claim that better than some of the prescription drugs . It contributed Bayer to become what it is today . Utility will bring value .

General Discussion / Re: Can someone send me 1 bitUSD
« on: October 22, 2015, 09:16:59 am »
before I sent it, 1 USD was in your account, why is now after the transfer not 2 USD ???

I got two accounts bitacer and bitsacer . probably the one you have seen  was bitsacer but you sent it to bitacer. Never mind . Does the transfer fee change proportional to the amount sent  or is it fixed ?

It is set in BTS and converted so the amount will fluctuate in the quote currency.
How do I transfer between my own accounts , do I pay fee for that too ?

If you listen to many prominent figures in the crypto space including Charles , most of them emphasize the fact that this technology is needed mostly in the developing world more than the west .  Most of the transaction types will probably be money transfers . You got to make it appealing , but you can set the fees higher for some of the more advanced transactions . Not for the transfers .

Pretty good talk actually. This is my take :

- There is a huge needless energy consumption for a small network like Bitcoin
- Scalability is an issue with bitcoin
- Bitcoins speed sucks
- Control is at stake with bitcoin

Thats enough for me .

General Discussion / Re: Fee Adjustments
« on: October 21, 2015, 12:39:39 am »
The only fee I would like to see lowered is transfer fees , sending value should not cost that much . Initial adopters will be the ones who will be using  BitShares mainly for basic banking . Lets first be inviting . A simple transfer just simply can not and must not cost 40 unit of that cryptocurrency.

Can someone explain how I can push the translation to github ? thanks

I've just created a pull request from your updated translation. Sorry again for the delay, this will be automated soon!

By the way thank you for the constant feedback and the heads by opening issues on Transifex.

Hey , great job as always , thanks.

I could help for turkish translation. Can someone send me the link here please. I was just thinking about the effectiveness of short videos like the ones Salman Khan does on Khan Academy. Many people will have hard time comprehending totally what such things like a witness or a delegate are and what they do . Short videos  each couple of minutes would really help people  understand basic terminology and the functions .

@bitsacer, are you dairemerkezi on Transifex? If so you are doing it great job translating graphene-ui into Turkish, we should grant  Reviewer permissions.

Same to inarizushi Transifex user wtth French translation. If you read this please let me know so we can keep in touch.

Remember that changes on translation source file are pulled once a day from github.com/graphene-ui.
You can click on Watch Project from the source file page of the project to get notified each time new strings comes from github (https://www.transifex.com/bitshares/graphene-ui/content/)

When translations get completed and reviewed I'll be pushing them to github. Reviewers and Language Coordinators can do that themselves if they want.

I'm glad to see more people joining

Hey , how are you doing . Could you please tell me how to do that  . Thanks

General Discussion / Re: we should focus on simple business

I remember what Andreas once said , there are many people around the world who just need to see it work and how to use it. Cars , phones or planes are some good examples . We just need to see what they do   and and how to use them , thats all.
