Good insight - thanks for sharing!

Hi all - I've asked my IP attorney to provide further detail which I'll share but essentially and to refer to an authoritative source, refer to the first 3 paragraphs here:

http://www.fr.com/prior-user-vs-federal-registrant--whose-mark-is-it-anyway1/

Note, when we filed for BitShares last year, the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) used our own postings (on domains that we owned no less!) to initially make reference that the term was already out for public use and could not be trademarked.  We pursued that successfully and yet they added that the term was 'too descriptive'.

For the uninitiated "Too Descriptive" means:
A trademark that is overly descriptive and lacks secondary meaning is considered to be invalid. A mark is descriptive if it conveys an immediate idea of the ingredients, qualities or characteristics of the goods or services. This is because it would be unfair to allow a firm to prevent its competitors from informing consumers about the attributes of the competitor's brands by obtaining sole trademark rights to the descriptive terms. This also ensures the freedom of the public to use the language involved, without the possibility of infringement suits by the registrant against others who use the mark to advertise or describe their own products or services. If a firm does use a generic or descriptive term as a trademark, this makes it difficult for competitors to market their own brands of the same product or service.

Excellent - Also, BitUSD would completely do away with the need for services like the recently setup https://bitreserve.org started by one of the founders of CNET.

well... could rehash the ol' Gong Show saying...

BitShares X- "I'll Buy That For a Dollar!" LOL

That saying will bypass the banking image

Or how about "BitUSD - I'll Buy That for a Dollar!"    :)

Like... "compute the last digit of pi?"   *just kidding*

Been hearing this phrase turing complete mentioned lately, what does it mean?

From wikipedia:

Turing completeness, named after Alan Turing, is significant in that every plausible design for a computing device so far advanced can be emulated by a universal Turing machine — an observation that has become known as the Church-Turing thesis. Thus, a machine that can act as a universal Turing machine can, in principle, perform any calculation that any other programmable computer is capable of. However, this has nothing to do with the effort required to write a program for the machine, the time it may take for the machine to perform the calculation, or any abilities the machine may possess that are unrelated to computation.

While truly Turing-complete machines are very likely physically impossible, as they require unlimited storage, Turing completeness is often loosely attributed to physical machines or programming languages that would be universal if they had unlimited storage. All modern computers are Turing-complete in this sense.

I don't know how you can be more non-technical than that except by saying "turing complete means 'able to answer computable problem given enough time and space'".

"Reimagine everything" - Perfect

I agree that 'Reimagine Everything' is excellent.  Consider Apple's 'Think Different' campaign.

What is missing, is a real world, non-ethereal STORY explaining the concept which we can gravitate to and champion!  Not simply text, but well-executed video.  I believe I can help make that happen.

I asked in another post, but can we get a folder or download somewhere of all of the logo vectors?

Can you snag them off the web site for concept purposes until Brian get's back from the conference?

Like this:

Maybe in the future have a page on the site were we could copy approved Invictus images.
example: http://auroracoin.org/resources.php

Agreed - the marketing team has been discussing 1) a brand book, and 2) a page on the website to enable the public to retrieve assets.

General Discussion / Re: Beyond Bitcoin Mumble Server Now Up
« on: April 26, 2014, 04:43:43 pm »
Using Mumble 1.2.5 (64bit) on late MAC 2012 with Mavericks, hung during the 'connect to server' (ADD NEW) button.  Tried repeatedly and uninstalled/reinstalled.  Ended up using 1.2.3 (32 bit version) which seems to be working.

I used my founder key which was emailed to me and while it worked on the old system, providing me points, now it says it's invalid.
This is for my Keyhotee ID: Gregory

Public key: 5CCX9nWysxrv8KkibWmqVopjdMusLWHkFu478fyqwZa8HhvxGf

Can you assist?

Wasn't Gmail originally BitMail?   Probably not the best choice.
https://web.archive.org/web/20100304045911/http://www.bitmail.com/

BitMail sounds nice indeed, I do like the name Keyhotee but I agree it might be difficult to market and it doesn't say anything about what it does, but then again so doesn't Firefox, Chrome and Skype.

Well  +5% for BitMail anyways!
